- This has been quite the project… and though it is not yet complete, there are plenty of gorgeous things to show you so we thought we’d dive in!! Enjoy~ and stay tuned for the final details as we finish out that fenced in raised garden space!

That house and the landscape, yours and the "borrowed" is magnificent. You have married it all together and given it the Barnwell magic touch. Great work by you and the crews. That oudoor kitchen and raised beds and the greenhouse. Oh my gosh! I cannot hardly wait to see that all come together.
I have missed a couple of things this summer. You haven't included your family. I miss seeing those children and how you planted your place up. I know you are not focussing as much on the video side of things and I miss seeing as many, but you have to do you, right? I sure get excited when I see you in my list of always show videos! Yea!!!

Bugbane is such an underutilized plant. It is so architectural.

I’m here to tell you, the contrast of black and natural wood house colors are striking! And, of course your amazing talent to put it all together! Only you would point out the err of plant color! I don’t think any of us would be like “why did Jack place two white flowering plants side by side”!!!! Lol

It's nice to see this project again. It's come a long way. I like the idea of gravel in the patio areas. It gives a real natural feel. Hope to see a project or two on Mackinac before you head back to Florida.

Looks like the owner is sort of rebelling with some loud colors in pots. I took over a large meadow type planting, the architect had planted a naturalist low key design. The owners said they didn’t want to see any more daisy like flowers for a long time. Orange is hard to work in … maybe for the cutting garden. And some in the Greenhouse ! Love your design.
Beautiful home and gardens, love the black and natural home and I’m a big fan of boulders and rock in the gardens. Hopefully there will be an inside tour somewhere that we can enjoy!

Great project on a great lake. So many great homes. They could keep you busy for years redoing there property into master pieces like this property. What nurseries do you use for those northern projects? Is that a Hartley greenhouse ?

Wrong tag in the Yarrow! Happens all the time. I liked the orange in the pots dotted around the property. Dahlias or Marigold? Great design at such a grand scale Jack.

So beautiful!! Question - do you have any issues with boxwoods browning over the winter?
Sometimes~ however- we usually let them go into winter a bit shaggy and resist the late season trim on them… that way, when they get a good trim after soils are above 60, they look great-
Love it! Green infrastructure (gravel patio). Will you be using more Native plants to feed pollinators ?
There are huge native meadows all around the property we’ll show off in the next vid….

What do you do in the area where the arborescens hydrangeas are, DURING the winter?
They get cut back so the snow can be shoveled off the porch into that space- they grow nice and full and bloom on all “new wood” each season…
