#DenonDJ #Gear #Tech #DJTips #DigitalDJTips #MusicIndustry #DJing - Hudba
I'm hype for the SC Live 4. I was stuck with the Mixstream Pro for the last year because the Prime Go wasn't worth the upgrade, the Prime 2 was discontinued, and the Prime 4 cost too much. Denon's trailer says the SC Live 4 is compatible with a pair of LC6000s so i am GOOD!! Shout out to Denon!!
Sounds like this is the one for you…
12:22 - It DOES work with with LC6000 based on official release video. Btw, I like those. They fit the gap for affordable entry level Dj console for new Djs and enthusiasts. Also those speakers that Djs seem to hate - are great for outdoor livestreams - which is a billion dollar market. Plus, how about the partnership with Amazon music? This alone is a solid bonus for new Djs and livestreamers. Not for everyone but certainly for many.
Yes, happy to be corrected on the LCs.
I personally like the green-blue colour scheme of Denon gear. The jogwheel displays really do make more sense than just showing a random logo. Also, the screen is fine from my point of view, but then again, I'm currently mixing on an XDJ-RX, so almost every other screen would be better. The built-in speakers are pretty neat, however I doubt that they are loud enough for the venues I'm DJing at. I imagine them to be pretty convenient for home use though. I'd still go with the Prime 4 or its successor though, as I love its build quality and its high amount of features. Great review!
Pretty much spot on there DJ Kärcher.
I loved the thorough and honest review especially when comparing to other units like the Prime 4 and one of Pioneer’s flagship dj controllers.I was honestly expecting MORE from the next gen DENON DJ controllers and whatever else they’ve got up their sleeves but with this unit even adding a motorized version and/or STEMS effects built-in to the unit for standalone mode would’ve definitely KILLED ANYTHING coming up.I love my P4 ALOT and love the fact of being able to use it with everything it has to offer but I would’ve loved to enjoyed having STEMS added into it somehow with any upcoming firmware/software updates recent and/or up and coming which I would’ve expected this unit at least to have had available. Nonetheless, it’s a pretty decent sized unit packed with pretty good features especially AMAZON MUSIC, which I’m hoping and praying that APPLE MUSIC, SPOTIFY, and other similar types of music services will be available in the near future….. even for those of us that already have Denon DJ products at our disposal like the Prime 4 or any other Prime units
I think we'll be waiting a long time for stems on standalones - that is the advantage of software, when any new features arrive, software pulls ahead often for many years from standalone.
Just bought one and love it.
Great!
Hi Phil. I've recently started DJing again (I used to mix vinyl lots of years ago!). Having spent many hours watching your reviews I've just bought a Denon SC DJ Live 4. Do you have any plans on doing a full tutorial & training manual, as you've done with the Prime 4 please? I find these videos really helpful. Keep up the good work.
No, the Prime 4 tutorial is very close.
Thank you for this!! Cheers
You are welcome
I have this and its brilliant also got tidal when asked for request i do alsorts of gigs with defo recommend it💯
Thanks for sharing
Absolutely can not wait to get this tomorrow, the smaller controllers do the job but it’s a nice feeling to have a decent sized controller in front of you with plenty of options and features .
Speakers don’t bother me , I will use my monitors anyway but if I want to unplug it quickly and use it in a different room or quickly take to someone’s house etc then the built in speakers are spot on for that , that’s what people don’t seem to be getting , the ones moaning will hundred percent use them speakers at some point and realise they were actually useful after all .
Reckon you're going to grow to live those speakers
@@digitaldjtips I was impressed with the effects and then I discovered you can use the touchscreen as like a chaos pad , awesome bit of kit .
Probably get lynched but I feel the sound quality is much better than pioneer too .
Just looking forward to what Denon come up with next. Way ahead of the game along with Numark there❣️
Let's see...
How do you make the time countdown instead of counting up? what do i have to do?
What sort of aux do u need for this just one or red and white
Technical specs for the sound quality look pretty good too. Good to hear it sounds good. Is the power 12v dc?
Not sure may be 20v, but yes, low voltage DC (it’s locked up in our studio now!)
It‘s 12V @3A. Which makes it compatible with certain Powerbanks which offer DC output! Since you also have the speakers you have a KILLER device for outdoor sets!!
Thanks for nice review. Can i use live 4 with my mac while playing? Reason is i want to see my songs on my mac’s screen while playing. Looking for a song in 7” onboard screen not ideal for me due to my eyes 🤓
Sadly not. I agree, 7" screen can seem very small. You could use it with Serato as a controller, then you could see your music on the laptop screen.
Very good video, im doubting with numark pro go and SC live 2, i wanna a full portable stuff, and add a external battery to the SC live 2, but im wondering if Its worth the price diference between numark go and SC live 2, because only a lot of more fx, little bit better sound at own speakers, and little bit better material quality construction between this two? And pro go IS full portable but maybe IS a toy.
Because Both are plastic right?
So im in this doubt, i Will apreciate a full comparision, because numark is the lowest line of inmusic but this sc live 2 i dont know if IS worth It at all.
Im talking by second hand buy.
Really thanks.
Wish this had dropped a few months earlier! Seems like a great compromise for those not needing a Prime 4 or uninteresting in some of the bigger/more expensive pioneer standalones although we'll see if the price point/availabiity is really worth it. I reckon an upgrade to Engine OS or a refresh of these units will really make it worth for people to consider it. Hopefully we don't have to wait 2.5 years from Denon
To be fair, the Engine OS is pretty damned powerful and up to date exactly as it is.
I had hoped Denon DJ would have released a revision to Prime 4 with adjustable jog wheel tension and better integration with Serato. This SC Live 4 & 2 actually looks like something that belongs in the Numark line.
We agree re the "brand confusion" with this one, it is kinda half Numark, half Denon DJ.
So with this release, are they officially phasing out the Prime 2 and 4? Or will this just be a different line of controllers, that’ll stand alongside the prime series?
Prime 2 has been impossible to get for a while now (read into that what you will), Prime 4 is still out there though - we think it will sit below the Prime 4, which is still completely current and a great unit.
Oh man, I'm still saving more money, $107 so far, but I'm so excited for this!!! Especially for the live 2, it's expensive, but if hopefully if the prices go down a bit, I don't mind buying this at all since it has built in speakers, I don't have any type of proper speakers in my home, so this will be perfect for it :)
Why don't you get the Numark Mixstream Pro then? Similar specs at half the price. Depends if fx strip, Amazon and Serato are important for you.
@@hvxcolors396 true that, but the FX layout is a bit confusing to me, I don't really use streaming services since I have a 500+ track library, I know it functions the same way, but I prefer the standard layout
Hi Phil, I know you can connect the Lc6000 s via usb , but surely you could connect sc 6000 or turntable using and analog to digital (rca to usb) converter?
Not to my knowledge
Do you recommend it for mobile/wedding djs?
You'd be better off with the Prime 4.
HI Thanks for the video. With serato dj pro the controllers freeze. Is there any way to sort out.I was playing live and the cue button does not work properly.
Not heard of this problem, sorry
Can you insert an HDD into the SC Live 4 like it can be done in the Prime 4?
There is no "bay" for it no.
Hello, is it possible to use different streaming services at the same time for example amazon and beatport in different channels? Thank you.
Afraid not, you need to toggle between one at a time
You need to toggle between the streaming sources but you can have tracks from different streaming providers on each deck.
What are the specs on the speaker monitors? Would they really operate effectively (loud, bass) in a live environment? What would be equivalent studio monitors on the market, since I'm currently in the market for some and won't be moving away from my Prime 4.
Any studio monitors will outperform the ones built in to the SC Live consoles. They would not operate effectively in a loud environment. They're just a convenience for home use, or maybe monitoring when playing in a small bar/pub etc.
they're meh. they distort like crazy with any heavy bass music like dnb
Thank you
You’re welcome
Beatsource comes ready to go!👍🏽
Yup, all DJ streaming services including Amazon are there.
Used denon dj prime 2 or denon dj sc live 4?
Good morning!
Como funciona o ajuste do beat grid?
As someone that only has a ddj400, this is amazing and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. It’s literally a novice home djs dream
It is certainly a lot of fun.
@Digital DJ Tips what about VDJ?
Beautiful studio! How do you change the camera? OBS studio?
Thanks, MACO DJ. We use an ATEM switcher.
@@digitaldjtips Okay i dont know how to US it
I hope Denon uses that mixer layout for the Prime 4 V2.
We'll see...
can we talk about the effects panel in the same position than píooner ? do we get more effects at the same time ?
You can have two effects at the same time, the sweep FX, and the strip FX.
Why do I feel like I really need this
Maybe you are suffering from G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome)"!
Is there a way to eject tracks? After loading a track on deck 3 or 4 everything becomes extra smaller
Good question, not sure there is
I already use Amazon Music Unlimited to listen to in my work van. I need something smaller than my MCX8000. I need this
Cool!
The 8000 is a big old unit !. I have a 7000 and thats built like a tank but smaller than the 8000. Did you update your 8000 with the latest firmware ?. V2.1 i think it was. Supposed to be a huge improvement.
@@dj_paultuk7052 yep. I bought it used shortly before it was discontinued. Do not regret it one bit as it is great to learn on.
Would you recomend this or the mixtream pro+?
This is the better unit, but obviously it is more expensive.
I think that there's a really interesting reason to buy this unit: it's denon porduct, but works like a pioneer dj gear. Personally, I don't like the location of the effects on prime series, and SC Live series allows me to buy an extremely well priced unit where I can play on it like in a RX2 or a standard club gear. In addition, it's possible to use it with a powerbank, making it very portable and useful with all the software updates that have arrived recently
Good point, that layout will indeed potentially appeal more to DJs more used to club layouts.
Hi Phil, when you switch from deck 1 to deck 3 and adjust the pitch fader to match the tempo, what happens the speed of the track on deck 1 when you switch back to deck 1?
It remains where it is until you move the pitch fader to where it would have been if you hadn't switched to the other deck. This is called "soft takeover" and is designed so that when you switch back, you avoid any possible potential big leap on tempo.
@@digitaldjtips excellent. Thanks
Hi love the channel I’ve recently brought a sc live 4 when I change from vertical to horizontal wave forms with the shift and view button when I switch it off o d turn back on it’s gone back to vertical again is there any way to save horizontal?
Don't think so
I noticed the samw bur could fix it by activating deck 3/4 in the settings. Then it remembers the view setting!
I have a Prime 4 and this made me Stop, Look and Listen, but I think im sticking with what I have, wasnt sure if this was and upgrade from the Prime 4 :)
Definitely stick with your prime 4
@@digitaldjtips Thank you, puts my mind at rest, your never sure when new gear comes out. all the best :)
If you have a P4, stick with that! Butas P2 or Mixstream owner, it is very tempting. A perfect hybrid, with SDJ unlock on top of that. Pretty neat imho.
What do you think it’s better SC Live 4 or Prime go?
not as simple as that, both are good for different things
It's also worth noting that the sc live 4 has the same exact screen size as the xdj xz which is almost there time the price of the sc live 4
Denon should make a 4 channel Serato controller with large jog wheels like the SC6000. I don’t know why they’re sticking with standalone, people still like Serato and they have no controller competing against Pioneer (1000srt) & Rane (rane one)
Rane and Numark are there for controllers in the inMusic line-up, presumably.
Will it be possible to use the LC6000 with the SC Live 2?
Good question, but I think no, due to lack of 4 channels. But the Live4 is much more to recommend anyway for just 200 bucks more.
Denon is advertising the LC Live 4 as „compatible with LC 6000 decks“.
So maybe you can connect them via the USBs??
That would be so cool if it were the case, we didn't pick up on that - thanks for sharing Gerrit!
I bet you definitely can, that's why there are 2 usb ports
I'm assuming we can run Serato Beta 3.0 on this device? Anyone know for sure? My need/want to use STEMS in real time, is one of the main reasons I'm looking at this device. Thanks.
That would be dope. But officially it's 2.6.1 so far
@@BlueHawk80 Thanks Blackhawk! I have a Rekordbox DDJ 1000 and I'm getting impatient as I watch everyone else incorporate STEMS except for Pioneer. Seriously thinking about switching to a Serato DJ Controller.
Just give it some time, I think before the end of the year we have more solid information which company and device is going to support 3.0 😀
The way I look at the Live 4 is that it's not replacing my good system (5000's and X1850) but to serve as portable B-system for gigs (odd party here and there). As for the screen, 7 inch is the same size as the one on the SC5000 (though that’s just 2 waveforms rather than 4)
I think the SC5000 screen was bigger - anyway, it's too small for us!
You are right 7' is same as Pioneer XDJ XZ too so don't see why he says is too small, that has been the standard till Denon arrived with their Cinema stuff screen. hehe
@@ValenAlien I say it is too small because for me, it is too small. What's unclear? Try looking at four channels on it! They use fonts that don't work at that size.
SC5000, Prime Go, 2, Mixstream and the new SC Lives devices all use the SAME 7" screen. Add the Akai devices, too! The 10" is only on the big guys, Prime 4 and Akai MPC X. And I fully agree with Phil, for a solo deck it has plenty of space, for 2 decks it's okay, but four decks, just nope... too crammed :/
@@digitaldjtips and I said is the same size all of us been using with pioneer since years dude, so the problem is on you not on the equipment, thats my point. :D
Can you 4 deck dj with serato dj pro with the denon dj sc live 4/ LC6000
Yes, apparently you can!
Is the internal speakers same as the numark mixpro?
No, it's better.
I am bit jealous TBH that they've release such an impressive stand alone at that price, I just bought the SC6000 and X1850 and feel like I just paid too much compared to this :') still i love them
You have an incredible system there
So in my Country the difference between the Prime 4+ and the SC Live 4 is 1.100€. I tend to buy the SC Live 4
can the speakers be by-passed
Yes, there's an on/off switch for them. Then, the speaker volume becomes the booth volume.
Is there anyone can give me a bit of advice about recording on the sc live 2?can you only record on a sd card or usb and upload to laptop?or is there an easier way?
What could be easier?
@digitaldjtips I don't have a laptop so can you connect your phone to the sc live 2 and maybe use a recording app on your phone to record your mix?
Pictures on the decks are not only for the nice picture you know. It's a reference of witch deck is playing. So you make no mistakes.
Good point Shuttel, I never thought of it like that!
Even more, the Prime 4 (as well as the club SC decks) have RGB LED rings, customizable for each deck/layer. They really, really should have added that here. There is no visual feedback, not on the CUE (Pfl) buttons either, they're just plain white.
main fader in the middle and mix with the vertical faders and you will never mess that up again. the fader that's down is not playing and the fader up is playing.
Are the SC Live 4 & 2 speakers exactly the same?
We think so but we do not have an SC Live 2
Interesting question! Would love a comparison between the Live 4, 2 and Mixstream (which I own currently)
People talked about the prices were being to high and now they have reduced the prices. Live 4 is now 1,299usd and the Live 2 is 1,099usd
Thanks! Yeah, we picked up on that too.
Numark Mixstream Pro + put Amazon Streaming in that unit as well as far as I know that is the only difference between the 2 Numark Mixstream units.
It is the only difference
The midstream pro + crossfader is inferior started bleeding after a week of use .. sent it back and got SC Live
Huge difference plus the touch effects has 8 presets
It's got Amazon built in?
Bang goes any 'Private' Parties you were considering doing with it then xD
Amazon music, yes
Dear numark, please make a stand alone NS72 thanks.
Not sure that will ever happen now we have Rane (same family of companies) making motorised controllers.
so it cannot be paired with LC6000s?
czcams.com/video/QrvtoQfFswk/video.html According to Denon DJ's own video you actually can.
@@bubbelchampagne Thanks for correcting us on that, always good to be corrected when it's good news! :)
How's the pitch fader increments?
Not sure if any official spec but they’re fine
Thanks
Hi would recommend these over the xdj rr
This
@@digitaldjtips hi would you recommend paying the extra for the rx3 instead of sc live 4
Why d you say it is home system ?
Because it doesn't have the pro inputs, outputs and build quality of, say, the Prime 4.
I picked up an almost new sc live2 for $600, which was too good a deal to pass up. I'm actually happy with it and I hate digital dj stuff as I started off djing on turntables many moons ago. This feels almost like having two turntables and a mixer. I'm usually really picky about how digital platters skate away from 12 or wherever the dead air and sample start begins, digital is usually far more inconsistent and lacking precision compared to technics turntables, but the technology is getting better and it's starting to emulate much better and you can pull of some simple turntablism routines on this. The fader can be adjusted in the menu to an acceptable cut in crossover, but it could be better. I noticed when doing flares it's not as precise as I'd like it to be. The pitch control is spot on and I never really had to ride the pitch to stay on beat once you match the bpm numbers on screen, just simple rubs to slow or pushes to the lower plater was enough to stay locked phasing which is really nice and also the feel of the pitch doesn't feel cheap and light, like there's some resistance to it which I really like. I didn't hook up a sub to the sc2 yet, but the sound coming out of my cerwin vega 12's was clean, one thing I noticed is this unit doesn't like to be red lined at all, so if you like staying in the redline be prepared for nasty digital bass distortion. My advice for this is to stay close to 0db on the board and just turn up your speakers. If you're on an sc2 and you want booth and more mic's, then just pick up an external mixer like a Yamaha MG10 and that gives you another 8-10 channels with eq (which you should have anyways if you do gigs, so you can eq the sound to the room better).
Great mini review, thanks for sharing
Thanks very much for the review, lots of useful info there. Out of curiosity, is your music mostly digital (sourced) these days, or are you playing your vinyl that's been recorded to wavs/mp3s?
I’ve noticed that every person I see using this, has the knobs for high, low etc in centre and I’m confused. When I mix vinyl, I always have to obviously move some knobs, to get song sounding right. More bass, less highs etc. so if I do any of this basic dj stuff on sc live 4, it will sounds nasty and distorted? You can’t keep all knobs in middle and it sound good? Is this device some cheap toy for kids or something?
I use SanDisk will it read them
Should be fine
My new sc live 4 keeps crashing and rebooting.
When I start it up it already reboots twice. Than after 30 minutes or an hour. Sometimes sooner. It's random. It happens while using usb sticks, external ssd drives (all fat32) and when I stream on Beatport Link.
I just got the product. I have my wifi on wpa-2 (so not wpa-3)
I also tried a usb to ethernet dongle.
I tried a factory reset and I tried reinstalling the firmware. I have firmware 3.2.0
What can I do? I read that several other costumers have this same issue but they also don't know what to do.
So, Denon isn't great. I have it only for a week! It's ridiculous 😮
I have not heard of this before, but it sounds like a hardware issue and I would get it replaced.
@@digitaldjtips The store where I purchased it also created a support ticket. I think they will tell them that I have to return the item. Let's hope the next one isn't the same.
@@DjStingerdid you get replacement? And did it work properly?
@@grahamkelly8662 Yeah, they gave me a new one and I didn't had 1 crash since. I just got a faulty unit I guess
Got a 1000srt and got this for a all in one and for travel
Have fun, Dik!
Tempted want to go up a level from ddj-400 now
Just remember this would also be a switch to different software, whereas the XDJ-RX3 (for instance) would keep you on Rekordbox.
@@digitaldjtips yes how reliable is the Denon engine oh with rekordbox I have had so much trouble with beatport link not loading songs
EDIT: Since the price update I don't moan about the screen size anymore. It makes more sense now given the price. It is crazy to get a Engine DJ standalone controller with Serato Pro unlocked for the price of a normal 4 channel controller of another big brand. It is great for those that want to go standalone but still want the advanced features of Serato. (Prime 4 was 2400 euro since a long time). Built in speakers are really powerful, certainly usable in the setting of a small party. ORIG: I just don't get the choice for a 7 inch screen in a 4 channel controller. To counter cannibalism towards the prime 4 they could give that a 12 inch screen. Other than that I dig a much lighter version of the Prime 4. There is no fun in lugging almost 20kg (prime 4 plus flightcase) to a friends Halloween party, .... I hope we don't get that silly discussion here about the built in speakers.
Yeah I think bigger would have been better on the screen.
There had been a significant price correction today!
Phil, please add some sticky note, as it makes these units far more competitive!
The new prices make a lot of sense
This is what I was waiting for, the only reason I didn't got the prime 4 is because it looks like a toy even when all the settings are just amazing over the pioneer, but the pioneer looks more pro, with the original mixer of pioneer, I never understood why Denon didn't add the original mixer from the X1850 in the primes, it would had been the perfect Dj controller, this one if the settings are as good as prime definitely I will buy it, the internal speakers for me is a great plus, if you wanna practice at home you dont need to instal nothing, no laptop, no speakers needed full standalone is a total dream, you can use this equipment for practice and as professional, DJs who critics this product because of the speakers need tu understand that most Djs perform in small clubs, pubs, private events, weddings, and hotels as I most often do, big clubs or festivals already have their set up, so this is what portable djs actually needs, I saw you can off and on the speakers so is great, I will definitely get this one for next summer, it looks just like the pioneer so is impossible that they can't say now that looks like a toy. If they re lunch Prime 4 with this mixer and jobweels it will be a total product with all we need.
Also, there is far less "green" on this, the LEDs are more understated which I guess will be to your liking.
Prime 4 is a beast!
we are close to Christmas, it's the perfect toy for the children😁🤣😂
Nonsense comment.
Only rich families would drop $1600 on a DjJcontroller for their kids

Make your decision based on the software.
Interesting having watched Mojax review also seems if Phil was going to score it he may give 8/10 and Mojax more 5/10, on this occasion i am more in agreement with Mojax as the two area key issues for me being the less responsive pads and Phil confirming you cannot connect the lc6000s with to the sc 4 kills it for me and if the prices are correct that is a miss from Denon in my view, I am sure they will sell a few for sure and I hope they keep the layout of the sc4 on the prime 4 replacement, but I would argue the mixstream pro is the better buy if you just want the bare bones wouldnt even recommend the sc live 2, but if you want the bells and whistles either get the prime 4 or wait for its replacement, given how popular the prime 4 was I hope the replacement takes it up a level and includes a damm sampler come on Denon sort it out please.
the LC6k does work with the SCLive 4

Would be bloody expensive cereal. 🤣
Said the guy with a low-res Pioneer jogwheel as avatar, nice humor. Not.
Look for them in the Kitchen Appliances Section at Target. LOL
Using streaming services only is kneecapping yourself. Local tracks are the way to go rather than assuming your connection and download speeds will be sufficient if you are running from a public/guest Wi-Fi network. If you can supplement your tracks online, that's fine. But not totally.
The screen is way too small. Just my opinion though.
Streaming services are wonderful for casual fun, music discovery etc.
That‘s what people said about MP3/Wave Files in the beginning…
It's good as addition. Nobody FORCES you to use them, dude. You still have 2x USB + SD.
if you populate the 2 usb and sd slot you can have a library of 17,000 tunes on hand. even has touch screen search feature to find the 1 tune you need at the time. I don't like the idea of relying on someone's shotty network, but it could come in handy when aunt suzy from Papa New Guinea requests Cannibal Rain Dance by Chief Tooki Tam
Can you still use a laptop with it and have stand alone for backup?
Yes, they work with Serato
.The price for what it offers is reasonable, too bad you can't plug in an external turntable and also a shame you can't plug in an Rmx 1or 2.
I guess you can't have everything at this price point.
@@digitaldjtips I'm not really thinking, indeed it's just
I decided to get the SC lIVE 4
Enjoy!
They need to add bigger platters to prime.
Instead they took away xlr input.
Doesn’t make sense.
And why add speakers?
Why was prime 2 discontinued?
So does prime 4 plus let user connect 2 vinyl turntables? Prime 4 isn’t available so would have to get the plus.
If so, any1 have prime 4 plus with 2 vinyl turntables connected? If so, is the whole unit too big width wise?
Yes, although as you say it would be very wide
Just because it has MORE features, doesn't mean it's better value. The RX3 while it might have LESS "FEATURES" is selling based on it's reliability and standardization across Pioneers eco system. Also, do the big clubs and big name DJ's really use streaming? Most of them bring an SD card with them and pop it in, which makes streaming a "cool" feature, but not a deal breaker. Wifi is great until it doesn't work, then it's a pain in the butt, us DJ's want stuff to work and not have to play with tech support during the middle of a gig. Streaming is just a fad like 3D TVs, it will go away when it becomes a pain to use.
Agree with you that this is more a hobbyist thing. Streaming ain’t going nowhere though!
"reliability and standardization across Pioneers eco system" --> typical fanboy comment
1) Denon gear became just as reliable, especially their higher tier stuff
2) Engine OS is HIGHLY standardized across all Denon and Numark units.
I think it's cool for a weird request that you would never think of playing and having the ability to make someones evening with a track you wouldn't otherwise have had on you. It's definitely a niche thing, but it's like heated seats in a car, do you need them? no, but are they nice to have? sure!
I think denon missed a massive trick with this. This should of been battery powered like the prime go. Then you would have had the perfect dj anywhere controller.
I think it would need far too much power to make fitting a battery practical. Plus it's a bit big to throw in a backpack.
@@digitaldjtips shame that like, it would be ace.
Just connect it to a 12V 3 amp battery pack. That's the advantage of the 12v barrel connector.
Can you recommend me a powerbank with DC out @3A? I heard these do exist. Doesn‘t have to be crazy big in terms of Wh. Thanks :D

Seems like they are tring to woo Pioneer users with this basic unit. Pioneer SCPrime 4 Nexus xD.
Maybe!
@@digitaldjtips Do you think Denon have dropped the ball with this?
Well they look more pro than prime 4 to me. I would buy that over pioneer.
@@Bodzio1982 I think they were going more for the lackluster Pioneer design style.. Sorry (Professional) or whatever that subjective norm is.
Think I’ve found the one thing that annoys the hell out of me more than anything with this controller .
The usb slot placement .
What a stupid place to put it
Fair point!
@@digitaldjtips I’ve ordered a usb extension, hoping that makes it easier with no latency issues
But it shouldn’t matter really. Put usb in and forget about it. Is it really that hard?
I find my prime 4 a bitter disappointment, goodness only knows what they were thinking when they cobbled this together. Back to Roland for me
What did you find disappointing about the prime 4?
Exactly what I was going to ask
sounds like a troll comment. The Prime 4 is AWESOME. He is the first guy calling it a "bitter disappointment" 🙄
@@BlueHawk80 yeah i figured, I love my Prime 4 and only have a couple things I find a bit of a disappointment, but they were easy to overlook when compared to the rest of the platform. While I have you here, the gain knobs and master knob on mine seem like they have zero resistance. Unlike all the black knobs on the controller where there is a nice resistance when you turn them, the grey knobs feel like they turn over so easily and can be changed dramatically with a simple touch. I have gotten used to it but it just doesnt feel nice. Is that a prime 4 thin, or a MY prime 4 thing?
Yeah I can undestand what David Line means. as a Denon User i am used to expecting something inovative everytime Denon releases a Unit. Meaning moving forward NOT backwards. I really find no need for Backtracking. for those additions that denon made. all they had to do is a Firmaware Update with the Amazon Stream as option. it may sound simple said but i believe it can be done without the need of 2 more units. Now i beleieve in these 2 units there is NO Hard Drive Bay bay to store your music, That for me personaly is more inportant than the Addition of Speakers and Amazon Stream. I have been a Denon user for over 30 years i currently own Sc6000's and X1850. i know for a FACT that denon is a solid Piece of Equipment. but for DENON to start releasing Mix & Match units it's a bit of Pioneer's model. And that is a NO NO because who want's a new Piece of the same unit released almost every month with same old features just re-arranged, it's just my thought. with much Respect. Peace my fellow Dj's
Way too expansive, at the release the prime 4 was 1799€, now it’s up to 2400€ at some places, that’s why they charge 1600€ for this controller now!😊
@@djstuc apparantly some people still don’t have, and I don’t mean you!😊
prices just decreased. sc4 is now 1300
For 1300 bucks this is a steal. Almost half the price than the Prime 4 (if you can get one at all) and cheaper than the RX2 and 3. I just ordered one. Shipping time already increased to 3 weeks :o
@@m-stat9 Changing the price changed also the whole game. It now costs less than a ddj 1000 and is available. Big advantage is that it is much lighter. Before I needed a special corner with heavy duty desk (technics turntables, pioneer controller etc). The prime 4 in a flight case is same weight as a 1200 in a flightcase. But this one is just 5,6 kg - you can just sit on the sofa and take it on your lap. Screen is still too small but at 1259 I will do an effort.
I just don’t see the point in it. Lost me when you can’t connect anything to it.
It is a stand-alone 4 channel complete DJ system. That is a pretty big point!
@@digitaldjtips a big point that will cost you a fortune for under par kit. This should of been a Numark product and positioned a lot cheaper. It’s such a tiny market for this I don’t see the point. Is my point.
Or a NO Hard Drive bay to store music. back to a pocket full of USB's 🤣🤣
I fitted a 500GB sd card, dont see the problem.
In all honesty I really do not like this at all. When you look at this compared to the prime 2 & 4 it looks very cheap and tacky. The inbuilt speakers for me are a complete waste of space on the unit and make it look cheaper. I loved the Prime 2 & 4 they looked the part had everything and the ability to add a HDD instead of usb drives was great. The only thing for me that is amazing is the engine DJ software hands down this is the best out there at the moment for standalone DJ units. I think this is really a step backwards from Denon and my have Pioneer laughing at them at the moment.
It's aiming at a different type of customer, for sure.
They have lowered the price to $1200
All good!
Great deck but Wi-Fi reception sucks balls
On dirais une pioneer
English, dude.
We don't mind what language people communicate with us in. you go ahead, Jean Jacques Plileas.
But others mind. It's not respectful when everyone else has to use a translator to understand what a single persons posts, rather than the single poster just using a translator to post. I am a not a native English speaker either. But hey, your channel, your rules. *shrugs*
No thanks to those two units!
Care to share why?
@@digitaldjtips I hate those built in speakers on the unit and it's almost like Denon wasn't sure what they wanted to do with this unit. I think the prime go is a much better option if you are on a budget for a stand alone player
What a terrible turn of events.
?
@@digitaldjtips Denon has always made great controllers. Not this time. Sadly. 👎
@@PierreVonStaines Luckily, not everyone agrees with you. For me its a great hybrid between Prime 4, Prime 2 and Mixstream Pro. Also, clickbait comments like "terrible turn of events" aren't helpful at all.
@@BlueHawk80 If it was branded Numark then I would get it.
@@PierreVonStaines well then simply apply a numark sticker to it and be happy.
no memory cues, im absolutely mad at that mentally unstable decision to take something so stuply simple yet important
Most DJ systems don't have both memory cues and hot cues, they're a legacy from older Pioneer DJ gear (even some recent Pioneer DJ gear doesn't bother with them). Hot cues work the same with added benefits.
in all honesty, i cant imagine NOT using both, hotcues to jump to essential parts like the actual intro (without extended intro) the drop, then maybe a hotcue to cut out the break and so on.
in a Genre like Hardcore the songs are rarely structured identical, so just counting the beats is hardly possible without PERFECTLY knowing the song..
it just bothers me so much that such a SIMPLE MINOR feature ruins such a otherwhise perfect piece of hardware for me@@digitaldjtips
What is it even? Denon DJ is supposed to be the top end of the "In Music" brand. These are what Numark should be covering. They should redesign the original Prime 4 Series with IMPROVEMENTS not budget cuts. Denon just shot themselves in the head big time with this.
I agree. This is too expensive for beginner and too lackluster for professional DJ. I don’t see advanced DJ to buy it either. If they would, probably they will sell it and buy Prime 4 afterwards.
Imagine the price for the prime 4 replacement, Denon really dropping the ball here.
@@djstuc I see what your saying but to me, it's a waste of money. Better IMO to save the money producing these and use that in the Prime 4 update, at least then the price drop in the older Prime 4s would fill the gap instead of these things...
@@djstuc dude ive been waiting 2 years for a replacement Prime 4. How much longer do I have to wait to Upgrade? Im still using MCX8000 and it is tapped out in 2022. Ive been using my Prime Go for most events
@@djstuc I lucked out sent out my prime go 2 weeks ago for a repair the battery failed after a year had to complain it was stupid that the battery stopped working after year. Comes in tomorrow
It not getting my money. It’s a ddj400 on steroids. A plastic toy.😂😂😂
Nonsense. 🤦♂️
