I keep my posts as educational as possible, and don't do any sponsored posts. I have essentially learned what I know about woodworking through CZcams and Instagram, so I try to put helpful information back into the community.
The Domino XL was an awesome tool to use on this buffet. But, it does get repetitive after a while. I've recently been more drawn to traditional joinery and am beginning to incorporate it into my designs. I'll never get rid of my Domino, but like all other things in the shop, there is more than one way to make nice, tight joints.
The finish I used is Rubio Monocoat in the "Pure" option, which is basically like any other oil-based finish in terms of color. The oil brings out a nice warm tone in the walnut. One major benefit is that you only need to apply one coat. They do recommend sanding between 120 and 150 grit, but I sanded to 220 and it worked just fine. I applied the finish with a squeegee so that I wouldn't soak up any excess finish with a towel or foam applicator. Good to the last drop!

Nice build, very inspiring too.
Amazing craftsmanship, and love hearing just the sounds of woodworking instead of music
Stunning. That's an heirloom right there. Beautiful work. Congratulations :)
Friggin beautiful!
Thank you, Steven. I appreciate it. I just got another order for this buffet and I’m excited to get to make another one.
The walnut is gorgeous. THe piece looks amazing. Very nicely done. I love it.
Great work man. It’s rare to see someone so new to CZcams with such high production quality.

Going to binge all your stuff right now! The attention to detail is amazing!
John Ayala Wood Works thank you, John! There is plenty more on the way, I swear. I’ve just been busy with the dressers 😂
Trust me I know I see the work going into em. At least a Russian who doesn’t speak English approved
Beautiful piece
D’s Hard Wood Creations thank you for the kind words! I appreciate it. This was a fun piece to build.
Beautiful!! Great video and great build
Rudy Mejia thank you, Rudy!
Fantastic Design. The smell, colour and texture of the Walnut wood gives it a unique design, something you can't get with synthetic wood.
Unique Design and Craftsmanship, plus I love the idea that its on original design, not commercialised like you see in furniture shops.
Thank you so much for sharing your ideas in this video!
You like building with walnut like I do. Beautiful wood. Your doing some amazing work..love it.
You know good wood, Mark. It is my absolute favorite to work with. I've been fortunate to have a lot of business lately, and all of it is walnut, except a white oak door I made for my cousin. Damn him :)
Very impressive work! Your precision and accuracy is excellent! The only thing, I would have used undermount drawer sliders with these beautiful dovetails to make them pop more!
awesome work!
Thank you, William! I appreciate it. I'm already working on the next video, too!
Great job on the project and the video. Very complete presentation with all the different shots, it was gratifine to watch especially cleaning the glue squeeze out shot.
Elliott Austin Thanks, Elliot! Chiseling off semi-dried glue has to be one of the great pleasures of woodworking :)
Man, that should be in the Louvre. Bravo, sir 👌
Thank you, Richard. That's awfully kind. I appreciate it.
you make beautiful furniture
Very nice work!!!!
Thank you, Andy. I appreciate it.
Domino extremo! Nice piece
Haha, the domino triggers some people for sure. It's a good tool. Definitely extreme-o.
Nice piece! Glad someone can use a Leigh Jig!
Jim Fox thank you, Jim. It’s a great jig indeed.
Have you ever watched your old videos and then watched your new videos to see the progress you have made .
Nice job! Keep up the nice videos!
Thank you, Nate! I'm hoping to get the coffee table video out sooner than later this time!
Super!
Thank you - I appreciate it :)
Молодец!👏
Damn I wish I had all these tools
Lmao - almost had a VERY expensive accident at 6:35 - Beautiful work though!
haha yeah. That was pretty close. Thank you :)
I like your work mate. Very precise and clean. Are you a qualified cabinet maker/joiner?
awesome work. Just getting in to woodworking so this is super helpful. What time of finish did you use if you dont mind me asking?
that's absolutely a beauty. I love that walnut. what type of finishing did you apply? roubio?
Thank you so much! It was a great batch of walnut and it is such a pleasure to work with. I used Rubio Monocoat "Pure." The one coat application was nice, but it is a fairly expensive product. That said, it cured very nicely!
Sweet dude .. I can only imagine what you're house looks like with all these beautiful furniture & if you don't have it lol you can just build it 🤣👍
I haven't been able to build myself many pieces - customers come first :) I still have an Ikea dresser in my room haha
@@theroaringwoodwork2213 IKEA's are good alternatives lol 🤣🤣🤣
They do the job just fine - except for my bed, which broke. But that inspired / forced me to make the bed that is currently my top seller on Etsy :) I've replaced maybe one Ikea piece a year at this point haha.
Love your work it is Absolutely beautiful & precise.. Do you make these buffet tables for anyone? Also do you use maple wood on everything you build? I been trying to find one that is 50 inches long, 34 inches in height and 14 7/8 wide with tapered legs, 3 doors & 3 drawers with shelves.. and can never find one so I gave up.. If you do make these for customers what do you charge to make one?
Really great stuff.
Any videos that show how you flatten your panels?
Thank you, Michael. I appreciate it. I think flat panels come down to good milling practices, both on the faces and edges. All I do after the clamps is sand. It's worth going over in depth though, for sure. I'll have to film something about it on my next build.
Your design and execution are inspiring. Thanks for sharing. @1:16 you are planing on a Dewalt 735 thickness planer and it appears your dust collection is below the outfeed table. If so, how did you do that?
Talented woodworker good video may talk a little and explain more
Thank you Jason! I'm learning as I go, both in woodworking and video editing. I'll keep that in mind with my next coffee table video since it has a lot more intricate parts and joinery that would probably benefit from some added explanation. I just wanted to get this video out since it had been a few months since my last one.
@@theroaringwoodwork2213 No talking needed. Your editing is spot on. You pack a lot into the time. Kudos to you for keeping it nice & tight! All the best, @HoneyOnWales
Can you share your Sketchup plans for the walnut buffet? I would love to try and make it
Amazing job. Are your plans available to purchase? I would love to try make one myself.
Great job on this. Do you have a link to build plans that you sell?
Hej
Pls share what software you use for your Furniture design
Great work! Keep recording!
Beautiful piece! do you have plans available?
Joe K. Thank you, Joe! I appreciate the kind words. At this time I don’t make or sell plans. I sell this piece on Etsy, as well as the other ones I post on here. I have a full time day job, so time is pretty limited as it is. It’s something I may consider down the road though!
Just out of curiosity, how many days did this project take you?
did you 1/4 walnut plywood for the back?
Nice. How are the partitions fitted to the frame? Thanks.
A fisher thanks man. The partitions are fitted through a series of dadoes. I’m cutting them around the 3:55 mark.
Do you have the plans for this anywhere?
Shop Dreams. Subscribe!
are you not concerned about expansion on your side panels, being all mortised in with dominoes?
All of the grain is facing the direction - just like a mitered box, for example. This includes the cabinet and drawer dividers. In other words, there is no perpendicular grain intersecting.
@@theroaringwoodwork2213 ah, ok, understood.
this has to sell for $5000!
I wish :)
Do you think that oiled walnut will ever be out of style or tacky? We look at some pieces that were incredibly popular in their time and now see them and think they're ugly. I hope that never happens to simple walnut furniture.
No walnut drawer boxes? Way to cut corners.... Haha
Maple drawers with walnut drawer bottoms... steeling that idea
Mortgage & Mitre it’s my go-to since I use the 1/4” walnut for the back panels anyway! Plus, it’s walnut and maple :)
