  • Today myself and son ventured to the highest point in Lincolnshire which is the centre tower of Lincoln Cathedral, to say I wasn't ready for it is an understatement! it's a long way up and a lot of steps to climb but the view is spectacular even on a rainy day.

Make sure you check with the Cathedral staff when the roof tours are on as they won't do it when the weather is bad and I think they only start from March on wards.

I think to date I've been up 3 or 4 times, stunning building with amazing history.
If you look at the front you can still make out the Norman part which the rest was built onto.
The Norman part has rounded arches to the windows.

You must be very fit running up them steps as quick as you did.. I don't think I will be venturing up there anytime soon. I went up Cromer church tower a few years ago and thats about a third of the height. It nearly did for me. Those medieval folks must have been a lot smaller than we are today.
