      It is due to impending de-dollarization. Print has an imported ideology created by the west (the deep state) which wants to play soft ball with the present government due to the impending currency reset after 2025. So, the usual anti-BJP rhetoric are going to be toned down. eg Shiela Rashid - a notorious anti-bjp person is playing along with the BJP right now.

      @rajendrakumarduggar1835 Před měsícem

      Who said that preserving mud houses meant safeguarding tradition? Not on this program, at least. Yes, corruption exists, but the scale of the issue is so vast that no matter the effort made, only a fraction of the populace can be addressed. If prior governments hadn't robbed resources through corruption and if politicians hadn't solely lined their pockets, the problem could have been significantly mitigated. Two factors are at play: size of the population and a sizeable portion of the population not earning wages. Indian rural folk lacks ambition. An ambitious individual would take any job to supplement his income, but many aspire solely for government positions for the promise of lifelong pensions, with work being merely incidental. They eschew jobs like domestic work due to perceived lack of dignity, even though wages are good, and there is a constant demand yet continue to live in substandard conditions without considering the loss of dignity. Dignity is in being able to elevate your living conditions.

    ThePrint I support the ground zero journalism……..the only thing this reporter is missing is in the knowledge of thing she want to analyse ….a)PM Gram sadak yojana was launched in 2000 Not in 2014
    b)It is centrally sponsored scheme …meaning funding to the tune of 40 % (general states) 10 % NE and Himalayan states need to be borne by respective states….
    c)It is implemented by state govt via District Rural Development Agencies (so again onus of delay or lack of development lies on states )
    d)also problem of land acquisition and requisition at ground level further makes the implementation murkier…..so long and short of this is You CANNOT and SHOULD NOT reduce the complexities of implementation on ground level to reason as “casteism’’
    e)Also 3Lakh KMs of road was constructed under this scheme during 2016 to 2022 i.e in 6 years vis a vis 1.88 lakh KMs in 2009 to 2014 .
    I know everything is NOT hunk dory in Modi regime yet it is way far better than previous UPA regime …..

      In Odisha people need to pay bribe in advance during paperwork, or the BDO/PM Awas Block coordinator/ Civil JE etc would not pass and forward the paperwork. Because the Central Grant is directly debited to directly to the bank a/c of beneficiaries via DBT, the corrupt state level officials take bribe in advance. The BDO collects cuts (also PC) from all block level staff and sends his cut to the DM/Collector who then sends all PC collection directly upstairs to State CM. That's how the clean and honest government of Naveen Patnaik is running Odisha for more than quarter of a century. Modi gives and Naveen takes his cut in advance from the public because he owns the state machinery responsible for executing the welfare schemes. Modi can't scrutinize too closely because BJP doesn't have a clear majority in Rajya Sabha. Also, what can he do when the people keep electing the same government for 25 years.

    The biggest problem of most Indians is that we don’t consider other Indians as our own. We are selfish and think only of ourselves. All these poor people for which our country gets the ‘land of poverty’ tag, have to suffer so much under the hands of corrupt and selfish officers. Even if the top level government makes ambitious decisions, without alleviating greed and corruption, it’s impossible to alleviate poverty. We need extremely strict legal schemes against corrupt individuals. The Indian legislative system also needs a complete overhaul. It’s unacceptable that it takes decades for justice to be meted out.

    Yo go there, and speak in english around the villagers. What kind of role models those kids end up looking at. This is the kind of elite Nehru Gandhi family was raising - creating a class of brown englishmen. At least speak Hindi around them. I thought Modi was able to usher India in a country where citizens are proud of their culture and language. Jai Shree Ram.

    The government has done good works so far on ground level but the problem lies in filling the gap and timely grievance redressal. Hopefully the coming days would be much better and we will see smart villages all across our nation☺

    There is so much demand for proper housing. Local and State government should focus on skill retraining in housing. They should teach them - about masonry work, carpentry work, build toilets, installing doors, windows, electric fans, AC units, building pucca terrace and roofs, build fences. All this should be done as per building codes also, so there should be permit requirement and there are no violations also . This will sustain regular employment in the long run also. This things the local politicians needs to fix this at the earliest.

    In my village, gam panchyat Mukhiya is very close to our family and a good man, he said in Indira awas yojna, there were 90% corruption, most of the money used to go to leaders, BDO even district magistrate had percentage. But the implementation in PM Modi awas Yojn a, its fabulous, leakage is almost none. Yes few officer does demand from bank some perks of 5000-10000 but that also not everywhere and now fear of corruption charges is high. And also its all DBT, so very difficult.

    What a great ground reporting by The Print. Whenever other reporters have gone to the ground, they have always cherry picked issues to show BJP’s work in bad light and have often directly criticised Modi instead of criticising the mega corrupt babus and Sarpanchs and block heads.
    If 10 years of Modi couldn’t weed out this corruption, if Indi alliance comes to power, it will be free ride
