15 Most Populous Hive worlds in the Imperium (Warhammer 40K)

  • Humans are the most dominant species in the galaxy, say what you will but every other faction operates within imperial space, the necrons are asleep in their tomb worlds, the eldari are in their few craftworlds, the Tau are a small burgeoning empire the size of a sector, the Orks are maybe more numerous but they are not united and as for the tyranids, most of them haven’t entered the galaxy yet. So as of now, the most dominant power is the Imperium and its human citizens which are mostly condensed into hive cities which are monumentally large towering neo industrial cities. These Megalopolis cities make up a hive world which can have one or many at the same time. So if one hive city can house billions then a hive world has the potential to have a population in the tens or hundreds of billions, maybe even trillions. So, here in this video we are going to showcase 15 of the most populated human worlds in the Imperium

10% is a massive amount of peoples and is unsustainable in the long or even medium term.
Assuming most of those are men (and they would be) you are essentially stripping yourself out of 20% of the male population of your planet from labour, leaving only the old, the youth and the cripple to work.
A standing world would probablt have between 0.5 to 2% if its population inducted into the PDF when not under attack. That’s still a lot of peoples mind you, say your world has 10b inhabitant, an average of 1% of troops is still about 100 millions peoples. Those are going to be well trained compared to fresh recruit since they are a standing army.

One Ork can populate an entire planet in no time at all compared to humans. Their original template was the Krork which probably started from a single specimen and had reality warping powers. They probably devolved themselves because they knew that they would become a threat to the galaxy. They became just dumb enough to be a nuisance instead of an actual threat but their numbers are still a big issue should they be united for some reason.

Terra and Sol System's Population being in the quadrillions always made the most sense to me since it's the most important world in the Imperium of Man and the homeland and captial of all of humanity in Warhammer 40k having been developed for over 40,000 thousands years in universe and the setting and the most defended world among all of the Imperium.
Terra alone should eclipse Coruscant and multiple city worlds in Star Wars all combined by multiple times over.

If you are trying to say the Star Wars population is far far larger then the Warhammer 40k galaxy's population you are going to need alot of research on that. As far as I am concerned both are about on par with one another. The Star Wars galaxy has hundreds of quadrillions of people inhabiting it across it's 2 million systems mainly the Core worlds while the Warhammer 40k galaxy has probably nearly a hundred quadrillion expanding across over a million worlds. Most of the population being made up from humans living on Hiveworlds which there are tens of thousands of Hiveworlds spread across the Imperium but mostly centered around the Terra sector which is the most densely populated naturally.

When you think about the size of the Imperium...a million worlds, give or take...and realize that since the Age of Machines, they don't trust computers much, you can see how whole worlds just become lost in the bureaucracy. A good number for functionaries and bureaucrats is 1% of the population (we have slightly less than that now in the US but then we use computers). So, a world of a billion souls would need ten million people to check, monitor, catalog, and process all the needs of the other 99% of the population.

At what point do they ever say Terra has a population in the quadrillions? That's absolutely insanse, even beyond Warhammer standards. Like, i mean even a trillion pop would be extreme, but far more believable than multiple quadrillions.
Like, the planet literally wouldnt be able to support that many people. There would be literally 0 space not devoted to housing.

    • @KalashVodka175
      @KalashVodka175 Před rokem +2

Peoples did the maths and in fact there would still be a shitload of space.
Remember that as an ecumenopolis Holy Terra would have hundreds if not thousands of levels.
Modern population of the Earth can fit in a cube square that won’t cover more land than the lenght of New York.
We could all comfortably live, the 7 billions of us, in the State of Texas and still have dozens of square meters each if not more.
Trillions would be ridiculouslt small for a city planet, it would be a ghost town.
The unreasonable thing about a population of quadrillion isn’t space of which there will be more than enough, but food and temperature regulation
For food : Terra is lirerallt the center of an empire of millions of worlds and a non insignificant portion if the galactic tithe goes back to feed it (similar to how the city of rome ate up so much of the roman’s empire ressources)
Finallt when it comes to temparture regulation you can imagine DAOT ventilation technology keeping things cold down there

There is endless cultural variation in the imperium so it's not unreasonable to say that there are some planets that have civilizations very similar to modern-day America (altough with vastly different language and culture)
