@@lokenontherange star Treks tech is also far more fantastical considering they hand wave energy concerns and physics at the atomic level to make 'tea, earl grey...hot' with a teachnology that can create life AND has the most frightening of military implications but in the show the greatest known feats of that tech are making a phaser (most advanced item of a standard replicator) creating bio plagues, and the greatest on screen or even in mention presented feat of the industrial level replicators making a single tractor...so the farmers want to keep the device for when their equipment breaks rather than making a industrial level stockpile.
They are playing god for tea, and too caught up in their own arrogance to contemplate simple uses for one of the most broken technology in sci-fi.

A 40k planet management game, where you are a planetary governor, and you need to make decisions based on your planets income, production, tithes, strategic importance and location in the galaxy would be incredible!
Think about it: all good for 20-30 years until a warp storm severs you from the wider Galaxy. A year into it you discover a Cabal of chaos forces trying to overthrow you. How do you react? How do you plan for this, what sort of forces should you send?! How can you contact other worlds?
This is a game that NEEDS to be made.
    Edit:
Absolute no easy mode. It just drops you in the deep end after telling you the Theory of how to do it.

Never could get myself to believe this. If you are at constant war and suffer constant losses what will come to a halt is your military. Without massive cloning effort and the fact that it takes AT LEAST fifteen years (eighteen if you want an actually useful soldier) to gain a soldier and the fact that hive cities seem to suffer from terrible sanitary conditions and lack of medical care you'd lose and you'd lose quickly. And before you say: It's fictional: If a character (a normal human being) in fiction was riddled with bullets and kept going you'd say: "That's dumb. I can't suspend my disbelief." That's what's happening with the Imperium of Man. There's no way they can sustain their war machine through constant all-out war.
I do like the universe but I can't suspend my disbelief enough to take the struggle seriously or fear they will fall because no matter what they do, the IOM will never fall. And the creators don't do much to explain why it isn't falling. And Astartes couldn't change a war of the size the Imperium is fighting. There's too few of them. A million of them spread thinly across the entire universe.

Yes and no. There are the old numbers given by battlefleet goth which are admittedly smalll but those are specifically vessels under the direct command of the imperial navy. That's not everything the imperium has (astartes ships, various orders, various noble families have their own fleets, planetary fleets can be quite large as well, etc) and those numbers are outdated lore but it should also be noted that even the 'small' ships in 40k aren't small. The imperium tends to go for quality over quantity in terms of its fleets. If it needs quanitity it requisitions merchant vessels or brings in a rogue trader's fleet to act as escorts. The imperium's void fighters are also not small either and again, they prefer quality over quantity.

I always think of it like this, every chapter has a fleet of maybe 50-100, with some like the Ultramarines, Dark Angel's, and Black Templars having 200-1000(1000 is more for the Templars) that's including Capotal Ships, and Support vessels. Now we can assume the Imperial Navy as a whole has direct command of at least 1500 to 3000, maybe more. Mechanicus have there own fleets of similar size to the Navy. And the SoB have fleets similar in size to the Astartes. Now finally we have the remainders, Rouge Trader fleets, PDF fleets, and random small merchant fleets. Rouge Traders, if rich enough and there are likely a few hundred who are, have fleets numbering 25 fighting Ships, and a gaggle of support vessels, none larger than a large Battlecruiser, plus what ever number there are of Rouge Traders, who all have at least 1 ship. PDF fleets can number between 5-25, depending on wealth and importance. Most planets however may only have 1 ship, if any at all. Then there are merchants, with similar figures to the Rouge Traders. The inquisition likely has a fleet of 1500-3000 like the Mechanicus and Navy, due to importance, and then there are the Black Ships, which indeed number to at least 5000(no support vessels included). So we could see a figure of maybe 10k or more if the Imperium was to muster every ship in one place. I have no idea if this is small or not, but I do know the US Navy has over 500 vessels, and is the largest on earth at this time. So in my head that's a lot of ships.

Not exactly. Like you said, the Imperium is absolutely massive, they lose and gain new worlds daily. Them losing a few worlds to an Ork Waaagh could literally go unnoticed for decades if not centuries. They "endure" simply because no threat has shown up that is massive enough to destroy them, or at least it hasn't done it quickly enough to matter.

Not only that the commerce and trade benefits of rapid, stable warp transit. You'd still need the Navy yo operate in the normal warp because I don't think they can fit through the Webway, but it would have made the Imperium of Man an absolute juggernaut.

The Imperium responds slowly, you can hurt it for awhile, but keep in mind that it's always winding up for a right hook.
Ideally, you'd hit it again and again and then withdraw before it decides to launch that punch and hit the Imperium at another place, but seeing yourself do that much damage can be enthralling and you leave yourself open to that right hook. Eventually, you find yourself in too deep and have no way of avoiding said right hook and you end up eating a whole lot of knuckle sandwich and hoping for the best. But it isn't just one right hook. It's one after another until you're bloody, limping, and left utterly senseless. And you best hope that you haven't done enough damage to warrant a left straight after the right hook.

So each campaign is essentially a chain reaction, where any increase in the threat exponentially multiplies the response, until finally the sheer level of death, destruction and all-round carnage finally kills the enemy's momentum. After that, it's just a matter of slowly wearing the opponent down under grinding attrition and raw weight of numbers, before eventually the whole situation ends up exactly back where it started, and usually at the cost of millions upon millions of lives on both sides, over several decades or even centuries.
