It’s pretty accurate to war in real life. On D-Day thousands of Allied soldiers went through months of training and a bunch of them didn’t even make it onto the beach before they were slaughtered.
The books explain that well, Katniss says that they have mines that explode when there are pressure changes, they are deactivated as soon as the 60 seconds are over, if you try to leave before your legs are blown up (or you are killed). As much as I love the Hunger Games I really do wish that the characters actually looked like teenagers. This is horrific enough just to watch but knowing these are young kids makes it so much more terrifying to think about.
I was able to go see this in a theater with my high school's book club. Even then, I was able to comprehend how _horrifying_ it is to have kids slaughter one another for sport. I can't imagine the terror those who died on the first day felt. Personally, it's up there with the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan (in my opinion) when it comes to showing just how brutal combat is. The young are being gutted like pigs for the desire of a few old people to maintain their power.
Well that’s how Peeta ended up almost dying lol, honestly I’d take my chances with one of the smaller bags closest to the edge of the cornucopia and run like hell. If I make it to the woods I can use rocks, sharp sticks or other supplies as weapons until I possibly get my hands on a real one. I can fight in the heat of the moment, but I’m small and I’m not a great fighter, I’d probably die in the midst of the first bloodbath.

The Music adds so much to the scene. Instead of just being there and not being acknowledged by the viewer, it comes in full force adding tension and feeling between the viewer and the scene.
I agree with Peter (or whatever his name was). going off to the forest to wait out the blood shed is a lot better than diving into it. You will also get a better survey of the grounds before others and knowing one more landmark than another opponent could mean survival. as for the weapons when going back, there are more then enough. the chances of even 1 or 2 being left behind is good. also, looking back from afar, you get a good look at who all is gone and who to look out for the most. you survey your opponent before they get to you. running is what i would have done. survival over pride is always the best choice
I wouldve done the same thing. The only problem is that the career tributes set up camp there so that they can keep all the supplies to themselves so there is no way to go back and get a weapon. You have a better chance to survive longer but no way to defend yourself.
I watched all the movies again and this scene is the absolute the absence of the sound of absolute carnage as surreal music just takes over as katniss disassociated, spectacular
They did this movie so well, to me it felt like i was experiencing the anxiety the fear and buildup as if i was there. They really showcase the emotions you would most likely go through from beginning to end. Even the part where she runs into foxface and the hesitation that alot of us would probably feel in that moment. I even felt that collision. That's how good they were depicting this movie. It's one of the only movies that has done this for me.

This may be the darkest scene I've ever seen in a PG-13 movie
And they tried their best to censor the most of it😢
1:09 when u open a pack of gum at school
BAHAHAHA so true 🤩👏🏻
As much as I love the Hunger Games I really do wish that the characters actually looked like teenagers. This is horrific enough just to watch but knowing these are young kids makes it so much more terrifying to think about.
They look like teenagers to me. They just aren't baby faced lmao.
They do?
Some look like teenagers, others look younger
Bruh do you need to see dozens of little boys getting carved up?
Steve: *chuckles* there in danger.

bruh i swear someone got blown up early bc they stepped of the platform

@@iceloracingnetwork9427 omg what?! 😱
This is a pretty good movie and scene but it doesn’t hold a candle to the opening of saving private Ryan
Kinda like the allegory of politicians sending kids off to fight their wars 🤔😉

Probably one of the most intense scenes in any movie. At least in the top 100

Seeing a joke about quarantine or covid and also seeing the *1 year ago* mark just still hasn't registered to me that it's been this long.

This scene is pure gold
Also known as a blood bath
I wouldn’t run to the middle, I would run towards the trees and hide 😂
most people would but you would struggle with no supplies or weapons
Then you have nothing to defend with
Well that’s how Peeta ended up almost dying lol, honestly I’d take my chances with one of the smaller bags closest to the edge of the cornucopia and run like hell. If I make it to the woods I can use rocks, sharp sticks or other supplies as weapons until I possibly get my hands on a real one. I can fight in the heat of the moment, but I’m small and I’m not a great fighter, I’d probably die in the midst of the first bloodbath.
I was 5 when I first saw this. I remember it so well , my dad brought home a Redbox DVD and said his friend told him about this movie , and that we should watch this . My parents were horrified at how graphic it was for a PG-13 movie . I don’t remember how I felt when I saw it , but this scene has been in my mind for the past 10 years
Compared to some PG-13 it's pretty tame
I can’t believe this movie is nearly 10 yrs old
Not to complain about your parents decisions or anything... but they let you watch this when you were 5 fcking years old?!🤣
Doesn't PG-13 mean you should be at least 13 and with parental guidance?

The hunger games is just one of those movies you never forget about watching. Especially going to see the film opening week in theaters. Boy, that was quite the experience, I’ll tell ya..
My school showed part of this scene when we did the Hunger Games with Nerf guns and Velcro balls. Let's just say that no one was paying attention to the students in the ring 😂😂😂

I loved this at school but when I watch it back now I realise where all my nightmares and fears come from
i remember when this movie first came out, i was a lot younger and i remember watching this scene in the theatre and having to walk out. truly scarred me when i was younger lol.
Bro when I was in the 7th grade my teacher made us all watch this. Everyone was on the edge of their seats at this scene
WHERE IS THE GUY WHO JUMPS OFF EARLY AND BLOWS UP
At least they are smart and that didnt happened
Yes I was thinking the same thing
It was a flashback that Katniss had; it didn’t happen in the actual games
You know in the book they described someone who dropped their district token and blew up, but I’m thinking what if I grabbed my token and threw it near a career tributes feet at the start.
@@coe8159 omg great plan
How to win, team with the most experienced tributes then kill them on the first night so all the dangerous people are dead
Then you get good before you become 12 or just hide in a tree with a bow and snipe
That what the careers did but they hunt down the week people
If you do that the Gamemakers would kill you because that would anger the viewers.
@@chupacabra9357 So the game was rigged from the start?
@@hidan407 no it's not rigged, the viewers wants to see action, if you're just hiding somewhere or doing nothing, the gamemakers would try to swerve you, like what they did to Katniss who almost reached the border of the arena.
Black Friday in a nutshell
LMAOOOOOOO
I would literally die if I was put in the Games. I would be dead. On the ground. Dead.
I really like how Katniss didn't even think of hurting foxface I honestly think they are one of the few that didn't want to kill anyone they just saw each other and took off
But Katniss scares her and looks very angry, wonder why! 😱
And one of them sounds very angry! Wonder why! 😱
That’s why I love the first movie so much, the next we’re way better animated but the fight scene was so brutal even for fsk 12 movie I mean I really love the brutality of this scene. It’s a complete different scene instead of the other parts. It has a complete different influence on me I guess. I really love this scene.

The Music adds so much to the scene. Instead of just being there and not being acknowledged by the viewer, it comes in full force adding tension and feeling between the viewer and the scene.
the first movie will always be my favourite, one of the best scenes aswell
Hi, just watched the newest film for the first time today, and I must say, they really upgraded the arena over the past 64 years
Yep. They sure did.
Also there’s more than one game maker.
The loud echoing countdown with a few seconds left was the most heart racing part of this scene.
Katniss was this close to dying like two times.
I can only think of the families when this happens
Them being forced to watch their children be killed by other kids is haunting
His name is Peeta 😅

I watched all the movies again and this scene is the absolute the absence of the sound of absolute carnage as surreal music just takes over as katniss disassociated, spectacular
Who’s here after Songbirds and Snakes and just to see the comparison?
The adrenaline you feel when the games begin ! This movie is legendary it’s like your there with Katniss in the arena 💯
I’ve seen some fucked up movies. This scene still to this day is one of the most disturbing well put together scenes I’ve ever scene
The loud alarm like sound when the game starts gives me chills
They did this movie so well, to me it felt like i was experiencing the anxiety the fear and buildup as if i was there.
They really showcase the emotions you would most likely go through from beginning to end. Even the part where she runs into foxface and the hesitation that alot of us would probably feel in that moment. I even felt that collision. That's how good they were depicting this movie.
It's one of the only movies that has done this for me.
