    The NC wasn't my favourite generation of MX-5...but this Super 225 package is enough to make me want one in a heartbeat. I really hope this is a sales success for BBR because it would be heaven if they would offer an ITB conversion package for the ND2 as well - hopefully the head design of that 181hp engine will have good potential too!

    The ITB manifold may cost way more than an exhaust system, but damn is it the right way to make the 2.0L MZR sing.

    I think BBR GTI should get Keiichi Tsuchiya (aka THE Drift King) over from Japan to drive this car. The ITBs in this NC sounds like his AE86 Sprinter Trueno he canes around the Gunsai Touge for his show 'Hot Version'

      @@joetaka7620 Hi Joe, I have an S550 Ford Mustang V8 manual at the moment, but might get another MX5 in the future. To answer your question, the ND is technically the better car, but the NC with Ohlins was a sweeter drive with more predictable handling, and with the addition of ITBs I think the NC would be my favourite. :-)

      @@MikeDasani I found 2 manufacturers that are willing to make itb's for the nd1-2, I tried to post about this but my post was eliminated because the mod said it was against the rules 😒 anyway I know you're in the forum spread the word man there's hope for itb's for the nd1-2.

    when I read 225bhp i thought that was supercharged...N/A?!! with ITB's, presumably a tune and exhaust? Stock it's only 167hp for the 2.0L. A huge increase...

    I really appreciate BBR for offering the ultimate tuning option for the NC platform, the ITBs. Thank you guys.
    I reside in S.Korea and am planning to have your 225 kit installed on a NC. Will contact you soon.
    Is it compatible with a US spec lhd NC?
    Since my track is a 2hr highway drive away, let me ask you this: In 6th gear doing 60mph, at what rpm would the engine be revving?

      This does not affect your gear ratios or final drive ratio, which are what controls your rpm at a given speed. At 60 mph in 6th gear, you should be well under 3k rpm.

      @@mitchellsteindler yes, for a Euro spec car, US spec used lower ratio final drives hence you always see quicker 0-100kph/62mph times quoted on US spec cars. They don't tend to use them for longish drives or daily drivers in the US, obviously there will be a few exceptions to that but as a rule of thumb...

      @@sonofplato yes...im in the US. 80 mph is about 3700 rpm, so 60 mph is well under 3k. I just got back from a 1000 mi road trip in my NC. Certainly is noisy on the highway, however is still quite efficient (33 mpg on the highway).

      @@mitchellsteindler a true 70mph equates to a true 3250rpm ona UK spec 2.0 sport tech, these figures taken via Scangauge rather than the factory dials for accuracy. So not that much difference at all. By simple arithmetic I will be doing 3714rpm @ 80mph, interesting.

    Finally, an MX5 that sounds decent, rather than an overly loud and droney mess. Just a shame I bought an NC1, not knowing that it may have a slightly fragile engine compared to the later iterations.

      I just picked up my NC1 with Super200 conversion from them today. The car's been with the team for nearly 2 months. Full Engine rebuild, BBR suspension and brakes upgrade. It now produces 212bhp. Neil reckoned that once the braking-in period is done I can have ITB and back box installed to get it to around the 240bhp mark. Having heard what the ITB sounds like, I'm saving up for next spring!

      @@HienTQuan Sounds awesome, enjoy it. Good to hear that the NC1 engine can take these upgrades. I'm hoping to install them piece by piece, working through from the 185 kit, to the 200etc.
      Did they have to do any specific upgrades to the NC1 that they wouldn't have to do for later spec cars? Cheers.

      @@GMak81 I originally did the Super200 upgrade last year. Stock engine and it was just their kit. However due too much high revving action and not paying attention to the oil level I had to go with the engine rebuild. Expensive lesson for sure! Just make sure oil is fully topped up regardless of what the useless oil gauge says.

      @@HienTQuan Thank you. Sorry to hear you suffered oil starvation. I have just purchased a DaveFab coolant expansion tank to avoid the known plastic tank cracking issue. Next I will get the car undersealed, then I can start on fun mods. Enjoy the car as it progresses with its mods, and thanks for the replies.

      There is nothing wrong with the NC1 engine, it has a lighter crank which makes it more revvy, the problem was the oil control rings, if its not drinking oil then don't worry

    love this, but! Questions: will this run on 93 octane which is best we can get in USA? Will this fit LHD cars?

      Your octane ratings are calculated in a different way in the US from UK/Europe. In Europe, the octane rating at the pump is the Research Octane Number (RON) figure. The USA uses an average of the RON and the Motor Octane Number (MON) figures, or the anti-knock index. As a rough guide 97 RON is classed as super unleaded in Britain and roughly equates to a USA equivalent of 91 octane premium. I'd take a stab at your USA 93 octane being equivalent to a 98-99 RON rating so yes, you're fine on the octane.

      @@Speedwelltuning BHP is horsepower (HP) measured on an engine dynamometer (aka brake). Worldwide, people who can't afford to use an engine dyno put their cars on a chassis dyno to measure WHP (wheel HP). In the UK we like to pretend you can reliably calculate BHP from WHP. You can't. It's utter nonsense. Engine brakes measure BHP, chassis dynos measure WHP. Chassis dyno operators should give you the measured WHP figure, not the guesstimated BHP.

      Yeah but no. Don't get me wrong I love how this car is tuned, sounds, performs. But you're comparing it to a stock s2k. Start tuning that and you'll also have different results.

      @@carolusdero6663 You can tune anything to what you desire . An S2000 can be tweaked and an MX-5 could be tweaked on a par..it don't matter . I remember the first Gen Mx-5s with the 1.8L block. That block was shared with the 323GTR Turbo ...the tuning potential it had was phenomenal..Mx-5s in general have massive tuning potential and the amount off aftermarket parts available far exceeds the S2000.

      So? It'll break down more, have poor throttle response, and weigh more. You'll have boost leak problems and heat soak issues. ITBs are just better.

      4k for a 40% all motor hp increase is absolutely amazing. A lot of people including myself would never turbo a canyon carver/track car for many reasons.

      @@theREELdogman The whole point of going for BBR's ITB package is because it uses the OEM Mazda ECU. Its 100% reversible to stock if you want to sell the car later on. You end spending so much more money and waste so much time fiddling with the car if you go elsewhere for ITB setup
