Magnificent theme! Ever since I saw the "V" miniseries decades ago as a kid, this theme has embodied in my mind the world overcoming a long period of terrible suffering. Hopefully the world will be able to take the upper hand on this coronavirus scourge one day not too remote and when that day comes, I'll be playing this tune.
I feel exactly the same way. Coronavirus, Donald Trump, Brexit, Putin's war in Ukraine... the world has started to feel more and more opressive in recent years, and just ocassionally I hear this in my head and think "This will all pass, and decency will return"
This was a great theme! I just watched the entire miniseries this past week and was still moved by the music in the scene where the hot air balloons were releasing the red dust. It was such spectacular imagery, and the music fit it so well. This is really soul-stirring music and is full of hope and victory.

WHO in their right mind would re-use it for a movie about the last months of WWII?? Not even Tarantino would do that and he re-uses scores from the most unlikely movies into his own. I agree with the WW2 comparison and the use of this theme. I’d precede the victory parades by showing German soldiers leaving the occupied cities and going back to Germany.
I remember in a behind the scene the director had the intention of that idea of the end of ww2 when he was collaborating with the music composer. So in a way you already have the idea or you had received the intention of the director.
Alot of these air balloons came from the area where I live, we were all wondering where they were going to, we found out it was to get rid of the aliens! Cool huh!

This was a time when Maggie Blodgett refused to be responsible for the lives of 3 billion people......... just to put into perspective, we are 8 billion today.... 8 billion. And it is fascinating that we are actually rapidly going down the overpopulation dystopia of the Visitors' own home planet because nobody is doing anything about it and everyone believes that everything will fix itself automatically even though we are multiplying like bacteria. XD
This mini series should've ended after The Final Battle. That t.v. series they did after this movie was terrible. I think they could bring this back now reunite the cast of the original mini series and the final battle. If that was the case they would have to play it like V the series never happened and make it more shades of grey like Picard or even Cobra Kai.
Kenneth Johnson did write a sequel novel to the original miniseries that ignored the events of The Final Battle. Set 20 years after, the visitors were still in power and half the Earth’s water is gone and the resistance was all but defeated. He wanted to make a tv movie, theatrical movie or new miniseries to that end but the studios wanted a reboot and that’s what we got instead. I would have hated to lose the character Ham Tyler, but I would have liked to have seen what he had envisioned. I wasn’t a huge fan of the supernatural ending and the blatant lead into the terrible tv series. But I still love both miniseries. I have a special appreciation for its simplicity and economy of story, sets and characters. I fear if it was made today it would be overly convoluted and complex and focusing way too much on franchise level world building and not a good, concise story. The reboot has shades over over complexity that turned me off and I never could get into it.

VICTORY! What a fantastic, memorable theme, with wonderful footage edited over it. The Final Battle had an amazing score and imagery.

What about the Los Angeles Mothership? Was it left as a weapon?? I though it was attacked by the resistance ?????

V was a sci-fi allegory of how the nazis seized power in Germany. It also paid tribute to all resistance fighters of the WORLD fighting oppression and occupation. It wasn't some gung-ho allied propaganda about killing alien ass*s left and right because it's fun to watch.
You seem to think wars are noble and that they are something to glorify and celebrate. Let me tell you this: Celebrations were really short in Europe because there was an enormous task waiting for them. Great Britain was on the winning side, was never invaded and had relatively light casualties. Despite this millions were homeless in the UK and they were forced to live in hastily assembled wooden barracks for years before new housing could be built for enough people.

I agree with the WW2 comparison and the use of this theme. I’d precede the victory parades by showing German soldiers leaving the occupied cities and going back to Germany.
I remember in a behind the scene the director had the intention of that idea of the end of ww2 when he was collaborating with the music composer. So in a way you already have the idea or you had received the intention of the director.

This mini series should've ended after The Final Battle. That t.v. series they did after this movie was terrible. I think they could bring this back now reunite the cast of the original mini series and the final battle. If that was the case they would have to play it like V the series never happened and make it more shades of grey like Picard or even Cobra Kai.
Kenneth Johnson did write a sequel novel to the original miniseries that ignored the events of The Final Battle. Set 20 years after, the visitors were still in power and half the Earth’s water is gone and the resistance was all but defeated. He wanted to make a tv movie, theatrical movie or new miniseries to that end but the studios wanted a reboot and that’s what we got instead. I would have hated to lose the character Ham Tyler, but I would have liked to have seen what he had envisioned. I wasn’t a huge fan of the supernatural ending and the blatant lead into the terrible tv series. But I still love both miniseries. I have a special appreciation for its simplicity and economy of story, sets and characters. I fear if it was made today it would be overly convoluted and complex and focusing way too much on franchise level world building and not a good, concise story. The reboot has shades over over complexity that turned me off and I never could get into it.
That's where V should have ended - the miniseries was great, but the series was terrible and deserved to be cancelled.
