I love Nina's vocal talents; from her chain saw growl to multi-octave angelic lilt, her voice BECOMES a musical instrument in itself. Years ago I saw her (of all places) on TV's David Letterman doing the most surreal interview ever, at one point, "confiding" to listeners that she was an extraterrestrial. David Letterman didn't know how to respond, and I was overwhelmed by a feeling of "being in the right place at the right time. A spiritual gift, for sure.

Danceteria was a well-known four-floor nightclub located in New York City which operated from 1979 until 1986 (and in the Hamptons until 1995). Throughout its history, the club had seven different locations, three in NYC and four in the Hamptons. The second, most famously at 30 West 21st Street in Manhattan, served as the location for the disco scene in the film Desperately Seeking Susan. The first Danceteria was opened on West 37th Street by Rudolf Pieper and talent booker Jim Fouratt.

I LOVED Danceteria...from what I remember, anyway. 80s New York was the best.

The Mudd Club, located at 77 White Street in downtown Manhattan, quickly became a major fixture in the city's underground music and counterculture scene, until it closed in 1983.
