Deee-Lite is a house and club/dance group known for their 1990 crossover smash "Groove Is In The Heart," dance chart hits “Power Of Love,” “Good Beat,” and their albums ‘World Clique,’ ‘Infinity Within,’ and ‘Dewdrops in the Garden.’
Deee-Lite was formed in 1986 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn by vocalist Lady Miss Kier and multi-instrumentalist Super DJ Dmitry and became popular in the New York club scene as a vibrant and lively dance act known for their unique Holographic Techno Soul, psychedelic light show, and innovative art direction. Jungle DJ Towa Towa officially joined the group in 1989 contributing production on the first album and both songwriting and production on the second. Deee-Lite broke up in 1993 but all three artists continue to deejay to this day. - Hudba

How is this simultaneously the most 80s 90s and 00s thing ever
And then add her outfit and the 60's to it. ;)
Add 70's also.
I think it's called a blend of musical influences (like the music the band members really bonded with)...
Then all those musical influences get thrown into the pot as a song is written and arranged and recorded...
I refer to that process as "making a tune stew"...😆
This song is a perfect and glorious example of this....blending of decades, 60's, 70's and on and on...
Also art and fashion are in the mix!
That's what makes it great.

Quite right, Sean.
It was both of those things within like 5 years of its release, it 100% looks and sounds like a product of its time...
It sounded dated on purpose back when it was released, and throwbacks often age better than their contemporaries for that reason.

Early 90s were more of a rejection of this kind of polished music in favor of the grunge style. If this would have been made in the late 90s it would have taken off.
@@anthonydelfino6171 great point. I agree.
@Boi people like her? What was she a Nazi? Please, it's not that serious. Go find a hobby.
@@jamesway It's called heroin. Don't ever start.
the early 90s era (1989-1992) was basically the highest evolution of 80s electronic pop music. It was bizarre how the sound of Cathy Dennis/Dee-Lite/Black Box/CeCe Peniston suddenly disappeared, and was replaced in 1993 by the much more acoustic & introspective sound that people today generally associate with 90s music. The early 90s are a unique era separate from the rest of that decade.
I agree with that sentiment. The 90s were an uncanny era. The styles, the music, the girls..... all delicious and on point. I look back on the time frame like a great party I got to go to.
Hair metal was killed off instantly by grunge in the early 90's also. Load up on guns, bring your friends. It's fun to lose and to pretend.
You nailed it!
I was thinking more about this and you are so correct! This “mini-era” also produced Crystal Waters (She’s Homeless) and Snap (Rhythm is a dance)that fit this sound. I have often thought that each decade spills into the next for about two or three years. You could write an entire essay about 80s electronic music being the last great gasp of the 80s before being steamrolled by 90s introspective and acoustic type music in 1993.
Could you suggest songs of this Era please?
I graduated from high school in 1991 and albums released that year this album, Nirvanas Nevermind, Van Halen For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, Metallica's Black album, Rush Roll the Bones, Ozzy Osbourne No More Tears, U2 Achtung Baby, Lenny Kravitz debut, and Pearl Jams Ten were ALL released in 1991 and ALL were released in a four month period. SIIIICK!! FUCK YEAH CLASS OF '91.
