Hey JC! I'm one happy golfer Sir! The idea of a punch shot has helped me tremendously. Playing out here in my neck of the woods ( no pun intended)😅, I'm always hitting the punch shot out of the pine straw and it works beautifully. So, took your advice and started hitting a full punch shot from the fairway. And, low and behold, smashing my irons now! I was hitting my 6 iron 145 before this drill from the fairway and hoping for the correct target line. Now, Sir JC, I'm killing my 6 iron 170 regularly with accuracy. When I step on it I can get 180 but losses direction. However, giving me this drill was like water to a dehydrated man. 🎉 You are the best JC and the Queen should consider you for Knighthood! Besides, I've learned so much more from you than I ever learned from Sir Nick. All the best my friend!
I am already looking forward to your course-logs! That will be really great to watch.
I had to google Essex to Scotland. That's quite a move. Love the new setup. Less soggy! =)
you're also posting the left leg and rising up correctly. The beauty of golf. Discovering new sources of power even after years of playing. Keeps us coming back for more.
Thank you so much, makes it so much easier to understand and feel
Working on a swing trigger in a bit of a weight shift, to help with my tilt and getting onto the lead side. Early results are solid
Great video again. I've struggled with getting my weight forward in the past because I've been conscious of not wanting the head to come along for the ride and lose its central position. In those days I was clueless about side bend. I had zero. Too much side bend isn't good but I had none.
Thats awesome good for you .
Hey JC! I'm playing #6 on Wednesday, so I'll be able to use this info and drill right away. Great stuff bud! Congrats on the move! All the best.
Awesome! Thanks bud!
Literallly my exact issue... been trying to fix it for 8 years.... I wil ltry this!
Excellent lesson.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏼
I've been trying something similar but with a shorter swing. I'll work up to a full swing in a few weeks time (isn't much longer though! 😆) hoping to gain good muscle memory! This has really helped with getting through the ball and straightening my left leg! Enjoy Scotland 👍🏻
That sounds great! Keep at it 🤙🏻
Welcome to the home of golf. Let me know if you're in East Lothian this summer and I'll take you round North Berwick - any tips for longer distance would help. I'm 6'2, 13.5 stone, 54 years young and struggling to get my 7 iron beyond 150 and driver beyond 230 yds carry. Would love to get another dozen yards carry.
Good thoughts.
I have discovered that making certain that lead foot is turned out to allow that unlocking of that lead knee to swing open the lead side and allow that forward move.
Your thoughts?
Nice going
Thanks Bob!
Great video and congrats on the move. Are you doing in person lessons at all?
Cheers bud. All my lessons are online via Skillest. There’s a link in the video description that takes you straight to my page
Congratulations on the move to Scotland, stay warm. Will be trying this in the basement.
Thanks bud! Haha can be chilly but it’s not too bad. England is just as cold (hopefully the weather doesn’t hear that and take that statement as a challenge 😂)
@@jchowngolf England just as cold? Self-delusion there mate! :)
Where can I find this swing plate? If I don't have one, how can I modify this drill wirhout using the swing plate?
There’s a link in the video description 👍🏼
Nice video mate, what part of Scotland have you moved to?
Cheers bud. Ayrshire 👍🏼
JC, does hitting off a golf mat give us golfers a false sense of power? I mean, I can crush irons on a golf simulator/driving range, but when I go to hitting off turf (real grass) I seem to lose about 20 yards almost. (I understand it’s winter in Canada so there’s a drop off). But I’d like your opinion on how “true to life” hitting off a golf mat can be! I’m buying a lesson next payday by the way! 😊
Hey Chris. That’s only a problem if ground strike is an issue, as mat first contact will still result in decent distance as the club will deflect off the mat reducing the distance loss from ground first contact. Whereas on grass that won’t happen. Low point issues or swing height management will most likely be to blame for the issue. Awesome to hear, I’m looking forward to helping you out 👍🏼
@@jchowngolf thanks for the reply, your channel is the best golf instruction content channel on CZcams!
Fab tip
Off topic, but what tracker are you using here?
And is the iPad part of it or just used to show you what your camera can see?
Do you have a video of the setup somewhere?
Same question
It’s a Flightscope Mevo+. It’s connected to my iPad so I can see the ball flight. There’s a link in the video description with a discount for the Flightscope 👍🏼
On the subject of Mevo+ how much room do you have in front and behind the monitor. I understand with radar launch monitors this can have a big impact on results. Also are you using the RCD Titleist balls.
Wise move to Scotland 😊
🙂👍
Cheers bud!
You gain 8 milles swing speed? 84 vs 92
Absolutely. Mass moving left is a huge speed booster
