For those who are genuinely curious. The soup is gelatinized into a semi solid form, then wrapped with a dumlling wrapper and steamed. As it steams, the gelatine soup melts.
Now if you'll excuse me, I must run and hide from the Soup Dumpling Assassins for divulging this ancient secret...

It basically is as the gelatinous soup is mixed with a filling like pork, chicken, and crab. There are only a few varieties of soup dumpling that is just soup.
I think the Soup Dumpling Assassins got him and is now a Headless Chicken... 😁

I didn’t understand the tasting. I love Mikey but a legit tasting would be everyone tastes and votes on a sheet and then they compare notes...not like this
ahaha that cracks me up considering the fact that Mikey is a huge foodie and not selective about his choices at all. However, based on his ratings the hotpot place still needs improving and additional flavor to their food and is not his number one place. On my part, if you want really good hotpot, homemade style can be a really great option!

Suddenly everything is taking off for Mike business wise, restaurant, hot oil, hot pot kit... 😶. Makes me wonder if he was actually stuck in a disadvantageous contract before. So many people in that situation, I'd be sad if I learned that even Mike has been like that until now too.
Doesn't matter, though, because he's on it & fulfilling his desires (their) & dreams... that's all that matters.

A lot of these things hes been working on or atleast had interest in doing for years. The hot oil for example, i remember him talking about it from videos 3 or so years back.

FYI, the lamb noodle soup you used to recommend at that golden shopping mall that you were at for the smoked chicken is no longer the same. The broth is no longer as white or as rich. I think it's changed owners or staff. Doesn't taste good at all

I'm so curious is the restaurant where you did the hot oil taste test your friend's restaurant but everyone just gathers there to taste each other's food that they're going to sell at their own shop? The people you ate soup dumplings with seem like such cool friendly polite people!
Surely they're just wasting so much money if they let their friends eat there all the time, especially with all that gold leaf...
I hope the hot oil will be available internationally at some point! I got the dumpling slippers and plushie and I adore both the slippers are SO COMFORTABLE

I'm Chinese and grew up sharing food from the middle but now we use a "gong fai" of "gong guan". Main chopsticks and main spoon so we dont double dip our spoon into a shared pot after eating. We are literally ear each others saliva
