Paying for the higher price tag like the S series isn't really necessary for those who don't really utilize the performance and features. This a34 has all the features(dual speakers, awesome camera, one ui, 120hz) you can ask for which is almost the same as the s series!

      I got a oneplus 10 pro for 5 days wich burned the plate, and an S22 ultra for like one month, talking to a friend who owns a 22u the first thing I said to him was: Im disapointed it just not worth the price 5000 BRL( around 1000 dols) even tough i paid 3,700 brl in very good sale, but ende up returning, cause i dont like oversized phones, I dont use SPen often and hgiher resolution display;refresh rate doesn't make any difference to me,

    This year, samsung focuses more on the building up and refinement for user experience. I am using S23 ultra now, conpared to S22 ultra, everything is a little better for everyday usage. But that small portion is everywhere. So overall user experience seems to be improved a lot. When I tried A54 and A14 in the best buy, it is very solid for the price nowadays. Previous A series used to get a mere reputation in S. Korea, but this year A34 got a lot of attention as a value for the money.

    I believe for the next-gen A-Series phones, Samsung should give the A55 the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 (or Gen 3 if it's out by then) to make it a better value and avoid making the same mistake it made this year as well as perhaps a 108 MP main camera now that the 200 MP camera's here

      They kinda did. Look up either the m54 . Its the India version of the A54. It has 8GB of ram as well as a 108MP camera. It even has a 6.7 inch screen. The only downside is the fact that they removed the stero speakers and it's a plastic build on the back

    • @mrgodspeed
      @mrgodspeed Před 9 měsíci +25

    • @James-fg3ed
      @James-fg3ed Před 9 měsíci +13

      @@mrgodspeed it seems like it doesn't make sense. But the M54 is cheaper than the A54. Has a bigger screen and battery at 6,000mah and has the 108 sensor. Also adding stereo speakers surprisingly costs alot. They have to mount the top speaker at the right angle with the right amount of pressure release or else it'll blow the top speaker. That's why alot of older phones with the 2 speaker setup had speaker issues over time or from being dropped. The pressure made them blow. Newer speakers aren't as prone. But they still have to design the chassis to handle the extra movement and sound of it. But yes it is weird. But I guess they have to cut corners somewhere

  • @midniteee
    @midniteee Před 9 měsíci +130

    I actually didn't realise just how close midrange phones are to high end ones. I've recently picked up an A34 as a second phone for work to go alongside my S23. And I'm honestly starting to question why I'm paying £500 more for a flagship. In terms of features. DEX, wireless charging and all the other gimmicky stuff which I never use personally is irrelevant to me. The build quality obviously isn't as premium on the A34 and that is something I would miss if it were my daily driver, having said that they've done a fantastic job with what they have, the plastic all has a nice matte finish and feels great in the hand.
    The S23 has a great camera and obviously the two are not comparable in terms of dynamic range and detail. That said, the A34s cameras are still solid and in terms of general posts on social media, most people would hardly notice the difference. It's amazing how far smart phone cameras have come in the past couple of years. I've been quite impressed with some of the images I've shot with this thing in good lighting.
    The A34s biggest selling points are the screen, as it's on par with the high end devices. It's frustrating though that there is no adaptive refresh rate, as it seems like it has been intentionally left out as higher end only feature. The battery would be the next best selling point as it easily sails through a day of heavy use or two on medium use. Had adaptive refresh been a thing on the 34 the battery could have been even better.
    Don't get me wrong the S23 is a better phone but I'm actually mind blown by how good the a34 is.

    • @Lucy_595
      @Lucy_595 Před 9 měsíci +1

      They s23 is way more superior in every aspect, you'd realize it more if you compare the phones side by side. The major difference will be felt after 2 years where the mid range will start lagging but the flagship will still be smooth due to a superior processor and do daily tasks without overheating.

    • @midniteee
      @midniteee Před 9 měsíci +25

      @@Lucy_595 I have compared them side by side, extensively.. but tbh I doubt after two years that will be an issue for me as I tend to upgrade every two years anyways and I've found in the past providing you maintain your phone well it will continue to run smooth for its entire lifespan. And from my use with both devices the s23 isn't actually superior in every aspect. The battery life on the A34 is actually far superior to the S23 (and the main reason I needed a second phone).
      But the point I was trying to make wasn't that the A34 is a better phone, it isn't. But that the performance difference isn't worth the difference in price. To me personally it boils down to 4 things and they are marginal really; 1. Do you care about better cameras? For me no, I have a DSLR which shoots a better image than any smart phone camera. I've taken pics on my S23 and A34 and 95% of my IG following probably can't tell the difference. 2. Better build quality? For me yeah I care about this and it's one of the reasons I will always prefer the S23. Having said that, for its price the A34 feels more expensive than it is, and it just has a nice feel in the hand. 3. Gaming? I don't care too much for mobile gaming but the performance difference is noticeable. But once again having said that, the A34 performs fine with any game I've booted up and I've never had an issue with overheating. Oddly enough though I have found my S23 to get quite warm while gaming, nothing that would cause damage to the phone but enough to notice. When it comes to daily tasks I can barely notice any real difference tbh other than the camera app running smoother on the S23. 4. Wireless charging? Possibly a big one for some people but again for me it's just not something I use and I'll always find charging with a cable to be far superior.
      From my use with both devices I feel like I'm getting probably 80% of the experience of an s23 on the A34 for less than half the price. Because when it comes to my personal needs for the device and the differences itself I truly only really care about the premium build quality of the S23 and it's not really worth the £400-500 more in cost. Probably won't stop me from buying an S25 but I feel if you're limited in your budget of it's a stretch to buy the S23 just get an A34 or A54 you're getting most of the features and only slightly worse performance for a much better price.

    I know there are other reasons that support getting the A34 over the A54, but weirdly enough, traditional speed tests can be a poor way to test chipset performance.
    Especially since the MediaTek processor is a year old and is very likely to be used in more than one phone by one brand, there is a possibility that the chip is just better optimised for. Now of course this is good for the A34 (and every other phone that has this chipset), but it doesn't mean the chip is necessarily faster. Still it remains to be seen whether or not the Exynos chipset will get better or remain the same.

    • @aRTEFRES

      If you look at the specd you will see that a34 chip had 2 cores at a higher frequency and that only helps with lower cpu intensive tasks like opening common apps - this can give the feeling of being faster but its only snappier...bring out some intensive cpu task and the a54 cpu will win.
      For dailly use though i will 100% take the snappier cpu.

Also the mini stereo effect as a result of the top speaker line, makes looking at visualisers while listening to music out loud even better. Having used both, I really can recommend either the A34 or A54 ... and I actually generally like Samsung phones. I have an A23 5G, an A33, and my wife has an A53. Other than a little disappointing battery life on the A33 and A53 - they are all perfectly fine for what they are.
    I purchased an A54 a couple weeks ago - I get choppy scrolling anywhere on One UI or in any app. I returned it.
    I then tried an A34. Excellent battery life and performance. The MediaTek Dimesity 1080 seems like a really good chipset. Its a real shame, because it scrolls smoothly (unlike the A54), but whenever I pinch to zoom it jitters like crazy - making it really unpleasant to use. Returned.
    Also - not a deal breaker for me - but both the A54 and the A34 have significantly worse viewing angles than the A53 and the A33 (with significant green tinting even slightly off angle on the A34 and A54). Also noticable white shadow under black fonts on a white background with the A34.
    I don't know why reviews don't mention this (or were they both bad units?) It seems Samsung really went down hill quality-wise this year ...

    I definitely agree with your points on this phone. I would describe it as the best mistake Samsung has made regarding their A series. The Mediatek Dimensity 1080 is definitely a better chipset than the Exynos 1380. I wouldn't touch an Exynos processor with a 10-foot pole.

      @@DARTHBANE-sz4zj power wise they don't really have to do much but their main issue is to fix their fabrication first. Exynos by themselves probably aren't bad processors but Samsung's fabrication has some serious issues that causes all chips manufactured by them to have overheating and battery draining issues. I mean they even messed up the Snapdragon 888 and 8 Gen 1, after TSMC made the wonderful 865 and 870. So the issue is their fabrication, not the chips themselves.

      exactly buddy the only one phone I had and it was really good by the way with exynos chipset wwas s7 edge, really a beast back then. Nowadays mediatek just crushes exynos just like every other brand. I've had never used the mediatek chipset before but I Knew the times when it was trash chips were in the past. And my first had to be the mediatek dimensity 8100 in a poco x4gt, as I said above dont lose in any point to snap gen1 besides the photos processing, an absolute beast chipset it crushes any task and to be fair I felt much more smoother using the poco than the s22ultra.

    Are most people who are commenting here outside the US? i can't find the a34 available through any US carriers or retail stores. Availability is only online and statements say unlocked globally and only for T-Mobile/Mint/Metro USA Market or Latin varient US compatible (Mexico?) LTE.
    What has been US owners experiences? Does LTE mean no 5g?

    I have the A34 and A54. The 34 is smoother, camera almost as good, cheaper. The chip-set runs super fluid whereas the A54 is more choppy, even laggy in comparison.
    I would definitely recommend the 34 over the 54 any day. Especially if you can get the 256GB / 8GB Ram model. Fantastic value indeed.

    This is my first phone and it is absolutely amazing 👏 Whenever I take photos in portrait mode (there are 10+ modes) people think a professional photographer took it or its 4k! Whenever I play gannes, it is so smooth on max graphics or even when I download games it is so fast! For 350 pounds, it's an amazing phone. The only thing I don't like about it is the thickness, I prefer thin phones but that is my personal preference. I really suggest this phone 🎉

    I recently got the Samsung Galaxy a24 I am very happy apart from the app crashes (ie: when I play contra returns at the share to get diamonds section when returning from the app I am sharing to my game would restart) that is very annoying but that's the only issue. The phone is very loud though which is a huge plus.
