When we go away we find the closest supermarkets and stock up or we get a supermarket delivery. To the holiday house we stay at. It's just nice being away I do love caravans ❤
Hey BFG, prices down here are pretty much the same as those at your park, BUT, as for stocking up, better had, cos it ain’t gonna get any better, did you know that their are 13 countries signed upto deliberately cause a worldwide famine! Also India has just stopped the export of all rice, except basmati, not because of shortage, but to help their inflation, so the locals can afford to eat.
I can't comment on the caravan park shop but our little estate shop is really struggling. They're not profiteering, they're just struggling with increased energy bills, increased prices at the Cash & Carry, increased business rates and rent, increased insurance. A few months ago they were robbed and the milk fridge died. That cost them over three grand. A lot of people grumble about the prices in comparison to supermarkets but supermarkets benefit from economy of scale, holding the producers' feet to the fire etc. My estate shop is barely breaking even. Supermarkets profits are HUGE. The estate shop delivers to the elderly and disabled and if it folds, a valuable community resource will disappear.
My sister says that about the co op that they've got a captive audience, she will go on to say that they've got all the pensioners because they can't get about to town as well. They've also got all the shop lifters too, they're prolific near us and at my local aldi. They always go for the meat. 🍖
Totally agree about co-op. My old flat was next to a co-op and it was always busy no matter what time of day. People don't want to travel to Tesco,Asda etc. Me I will go anywhere to save
I work crazy long shifts in a Nursing Home . Sometimes to tired to cook or plan ahead . My local small shop is charging way too much . Can of soup £1.20 ? 😮 I need to be more organized . Thanks for the video ❤
In our local Herons shop, all Heinz soups (400g) are £1.70! Never is a million years would I pay that for a tin of soup. Just hope that these shops and supermarkets find that people just will NOT pay silly prices and that they will have to throw out stock every day.
Great video. I remember caravan hols with mum, dad and sister. It was the good old days with gas lamps in the caravan. I always felt "comfort" with the smell of them, ha ha! We went to Saundersfoot in a three-wheeler! If I remember rightly Dad had a motorbike before and you could drive three-wheelers without having to pay for a driving licence. I just remember the steep roads in Wales and my dad probably wondering if we'd make them with luggage etc. I love your videos of the village scenery when you share them with us.
Ive always loved caravan holidays and I’m going on a short break in September and I can’t wait but I also will be prepared like last year I took a cool bag with sausage bacon egg’s bread and milk cheese ECT…glad you enjoyed your break
I like that the pool was completely empty at the end of July when it is the worst weather we've ever had in the UK lol, and all we hear about is how hot the rest of the world is!
Me and my friend do caravan holidays. Before we go we google to find the nearest supermarket. Then go to the shop on the way to the site. Saves a lot! ❤
You are so right …a captive market ..I live in Jersey so we are held to ransom ! Those are our normal prices …people are suffering here along with rest of UK with household basics , plus we pay an extra 5% on top !
Though we haven't done static caravan site for few years now, we always stocked up before we went as we realised quite early on that the onsite supermarkets were a rip off🤦♂️
It's the same in the "kiosks" (corner shops) in Germany. In the smaller areas, nothing opens on Sundays, so if you forget to buy bread, milk, or drinks be prepared to pay at least double.
Oh, yes indeed! When I lived in Cologne, Germany in the 1970s you could only buy basic food items on a Sunday by making a special trip to the main railway station in the city centre. Nothing else was open.
If you are near Zurich and want to do a big shop on a Sunday jump on a tram/train to the Migros at the airport. Normal prices and a good range. Airports can be an option for any country with daft Sunday trading laws.
@@stuartpace6111 Cravendale is sold in litres. I get the 2l which tends to vary in price from £2.30 - £2:45 in supermarkets or on offer 2 for £4. Started buying it as I was finding regular supermarket milk going off long before the date was due
People are paying it though. Not sure why! Is there something about staying in prefab metal house in the rain that beats a holiday abroad for half the price? I do like going to Skeg and places like that but it's more for retro appeal. the main point was always to save money. If it's more expensive then it's a complete waste of money unless you're scared of flying. My entire holiday abroad works out at less than £75 a day, including flights, transfers, unlimited food and drink...never mind a crappy tent. And what's more you get far nicer beaches, better food
Yes absolutely if you can't or won't fly then holiday in the UK. You can get a good all inclusive holiday for 2 weeks for the same as these caravan parks charge for a week and guaranteed weather abroad.
@@carolmullen4218 that's the thing. I almost bit the bullet and paid for Centreparcs before looking at what was on offer abroad. I never generally considered flying as I assumed it was more expensive. Centreparcs is literally MORE THAN TWICE AS EXPENSIVE for a basic lodge for 7 nights, and that doesn't include the vast amount you'll spend on food and drinks. My holiday away is all inclusive, so I won't have to spend a penny unless I go off site. While Centreparcs is nice as UK holiday parks go, the prices are just not acceptable, especially with the inclement weather in the UK. I'd be absolutely gutted if I'd booked a holiday for over 2k in Centreparcs next week. I'm basically saving 2/3 of the money and getting guaranteed nice weather and the thrill of a different country rather than Nottingham
@@PotatoPirate123You are spot-on what you're saying👏👍. I went as a solo traveller to Turkey in the first week of May and stayed in a 5-star hotel 24hr all-inclusive for 8 nights £453 that included flights and transfers. Beautiful hotel and you could eat and drink around the clock if you wanted.😁
@@blb2022 this will be my first time abroad in over a decade but I feel like my hand has been forced. It’s already cost only a little more for the whole package than my caravan in Skegness cost last July, and I spent about £500 while we were there on food, drinks and entertainment. I’m actually going to be better off by flying thousands of miles on a plane, staying in a luxury apartment with air conditioning and round-the-clock food and drink and gorgeous sapphire seas and golden beaches on the doorstep. I would say that it’s a horrible reflection of uk holidays but at the same time people are paying it, so they’re obviously doing something right! When you booked the holiday, it should tell you the grade of caravan that you paid for. Eg deluxe, prestige, platinum etc. great video. I love caravan holidays. Though they have gone expensive too. I always found the on site shop far too expensive. The issue is convenience and they know you may have travelled a long way, so you’ll pay over the odds for bread, milk etc. it won’t ever end… unless the camp sites close!

Reminds me of a Center Parc I stayed at once near Paris. Pre COVID. The on site mini-market and restaurants were charging double what they should have been. Taught me to review the Trip Advisor comments section before booking my holidays!
Jesus , I nearly Chocked on my glass of wine 🍷 with the Shocking Prices of that Supermarket Gaz , but you brought back Lovely 🥰 Old Memories of going camping ⛺️ with my family when I was a LOT Younger mate Lol 😂 Xx
I've had a few Haven holidays but always left the site to find the nearest supermarket to stock up on food. When you go out on your day trips you stop off at the supermarket again on your way back to the site if you need anything. A rare treat to have a takeaway on site but same again, collected a takeaway on the way back to the site. When camping I would buy six disposable BBQ's and cook us all bacon for breakfast, no pan to wash and no fat splatters. Lol
I have been to the same site a couple of years ago. I went to the Asda in Barrow for our weekly shopping. The shop and the chippy is expensive. There’s a chippy in the village. Not too far away which was more reasonable. I’m at the Filey site at the moment. Prices here are pretty much the same. Enjoy your holiday 👍
Every year more or less I go to one of these caravan parks. Mostly Parkdean, but the shop prices are the same. Rule No. 1, buy most of what you need in the nearest major supermarket. Use the on-site shop for basics only.
I always find your food reviews and supermarket commentaries very interesting. Here in the US, I do without some things when I think the price is too high. With little children though that isn't always possible. (Or with cats. My cats eat better than I do, I am convinced.)
In USA too, I see the holiday camp prices are higher than normal as per usual, but I think our prices are far higher in local supermarkets, Decent Bread here is $5-$6a loaf. Ruffles $6 its insane, I leave out the luxuries at that price too, Im not willing to fall for it.
@@rbnhd1144 I hear that. Went into Aldis not that long ago and saw a box of crackers for 7 something. More than seven dollars for a box of crackers?? No way am I paying that.
I know that a lot of people are struggling with the price of food but if you compare the price of food when I was a kid and the average wage when I was a kid with now I'm pretty sure that food was more expensive then than it is now. I remember when Lidl first came to the U.K and absolutely nobody could work out how they could be selling things that cheap but then we kind of got used to it. From my personal perspective I have reacted to the hike in prices by being more careful what I buy and trying not to waste food which has offset the shock of the increases but I realise that there are plenty who didn't have the option to be so wasteful in the first place.
This reminds me of supermarkets (and fuel prices) at M-way Service Stations. Captive audience. However, I live next to an Aldi, also opposite a Co-Op Petrol Station. The price differences are astronomical! The cheapest bottle of own brand wine is £6.50, in the latter. The only advantage, is that you rarely have to queue! 😉😉
Is £75.00 a night a lot for an average family of mum, dad & 2.4 children? Three to four days for £225.00?!? I would pay it, subject to what it included / where it was. Everything can seem expensive but depends on what it is being compared to. The place looked lovely, very clean, tidy & safe for the kids….. I think it’s more about value for money….👍
Your right Gaz, the site shop has its own prices and if you find your self short of something you go to the site shop and take it right up where the sun don’t shine unfortunately, it’s not the price of the shop product as such it’s the price of desperation and they absolutely know it … but hey it’s holiday and they want your spending money unfortunately. Great content and something different 👍👍
We look after our grandchildren a couple of days a week during the school holidays. And to take them anywhere costs the minimum of £40, a trip to the cinema, by the time we’ve bought popcorn etc. Even a trip to the local park has a cost added to it, ie:- ice cream, coffee for granny and grand dad. I don’t know how young families, manage.
We often book a few nights usually midweek breaks at these holiday parks as they are often low price and the caravans are fairly well equipped. BUT, we only use it as a base to visit the local National Trusts or English Heritage properties! We do not use the clubhouse, or any of the entertainment, we take our own food or buy it at the nearest supermarket. A great way to explore new areas and much cheaper than a hotel. We're a senior couple. Do not use the onsite shop!!
In my experience;- A "long weekend" can easily turn out at £1,000 in the UK for a family, even "on the cheap". I'm glad my kids have grown up & f*cked off.
The onsite shops are usually run as a concession so the shop operator has to pay a hefty fee to the site owners hence the higher prices and yes they are relying on you forgetting things before you travel
Sending the sunshine and some better weather up for ya today 👍 and enjoy the time off too....those chips prices wow....😮 Fish i suppose for the location is ok but chips are milking it somewhat but hey its a holiday so enjoy...you can do a video of the empty wallet when youre back 😂
Not gonna lie, It looks a fab site, clean, tidy, nice & relaxing...the shop prices are about right for those type of places to be honest, Although 75 smackers for a tent pitch for 1 night is beyond extortionate!!,The caravans look epic though! Hope you all had a fantastic break pal :)

Looks like a nice place to holiday with kids but the staff should be wearing balaclavas! I suppose if it's a long drive to a market, it's better to pay more for the convenience of the holiday camp shop than the petrol it costs to drive off-site to pick up the one or two things you forgot. Keep up the great videos!
Been going to Haven most years for quite a while now, love the sites. Soon learnt to avoid the grocery shop, chip shop, and restaurant food. I have never seen prices that high at Haven up north though, and we were there 3 weeks ago. My general rule is if they charge too much, I just walk away! and that applies anywhere.

I get worried if i did supermarket delivery to caravan i would get adress wrong
£75 a night to pitch a tent? They can keep it.
Cheers Gaz lad glad the weather is good for you guy's, its been persisting on and off with rain here in Swindon Wiltshire ffs but spot on review 👌🏻🔝😉👍
Cheers Tim, yes we home now, it's raining 🌧
Yes they will disappear won't they unfortunately 😔
Love it. There's Right Guy Reviews holidaying in Fuerteventura and you're in Haven. Keeping it real. 😉👍
Shoplifters would go for my boot end if I saw one.
Can't really agree with you on Co-op. Their fresh own brand produce is really great quality 👌🏼
Shoplifters tend to stick to Gregg's here 😂
Have an excellent break blue van man.
glad you and family enjoyed the time away, yes i agreed always did, stockup b4 u go
I work crazy long shifts in a Nursing Home . Sometimes to tired to cook or plan ahead . My local small shop is charging way too much . Can of soup £1.20 ? 😮 I need to be more organized . Thanks for the video ❤
Thanks for sharing!! Respect to you 💯
If that's all u want ,, jobs a good un!!
You're welcome 😊
Ive always loved caravan holidays and I’m going on a short break in September and I can’t wait but I also will be prepared like last year I took a cool bag with sausage bacon egg’s bread and milk cheese ECT…glad you enjoyed your break
Happy holidays! Thank you. 😊
Top video mate. Thanks for showing us round where you can. Always the same scandalous prices at these places I hope you enjoyed though!! …. Smithy
No problem 👍 cheers Smithy
Thanks for another entertaining video 💜💜💜
Cheers Barbie x
Another great vlog mate👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it
I love your CZcams channel and your video and I watch your CZcams video everyday and them are awesome
Cheers
Only 7 weeks of school holidays left 😅😅. Great video as usual.
Great tip!
I do exactly the same.
A good tip for all.
You are so right …a captive market ..I live in Jersey so we are held to ransom ! Those are our normal prices …people are suffering here along with rest of UK with household basics , plus we pay an extra 5% on top !
That's it. The way it is.
Just enjoy your break. 🙏🇦🇺
Yes i agree get well stocked up before you arrive there .
Respect to Host and Channel ✌️🇨🇦
Lovely video Gareth, next time bring bread and other essentials from home. Love the rabbit xx
Yes we did, but run out lol x
Though we haven't done static caravan site for few years now, we always stocked up before we went as we realised quite early on that the onsite supermarkets were a rip off🤦♂️
Looking forward to watching this video after my siesta👍🍷
Just love hanging out with you and walking around in England. I will never see it personally, but this is almost as good. Cheers Pat in New Jersey
Cheers Pat
Went Centre Park Sherwood Forest last week lovely time so captive customers it is what it is mate, just bring what you can on these types of holiday 😊
I hope you all had a good break, Gareth.
Cheers Alan, yes was a good change 👍
Great video Gaz that’s about right ripping people typical of places like this everywhere but great look around 👏👏👍👍
Thanks 👍
Hello blue loving the videos. Bye for now dude. 🤗😁✌👍✋
Glad you like them!
You said the price of milk wasn't bad, but that £1.50 was for 1 litre. It's £1.45 for 2.3 litres in normal supermarkets
Haha got mixed up, only human 😊 do you mean pints?
thought the milk was expensive as was the bread
In the UK its £1.45 for 4 pints of milk in supermarket's never heard of 2.3 litres
@@stuartpace6111 think local shops do have odd measurements..probably to fox you
@@stuartpace6111 Cravendale is sold in litres. I get the 2l which tends to vary in price from £2.30 - £2:45 in supermarkets or on offer 2 for £4. Started buying it as I was finding regular supermarket milk going off long before the date was due
Hope you and family have a nice time. Bread at over 2 pounds crazy prices . Looks nice place.
One of my favourite haven holiday parks
Glad you are having A nice holiday Gareth. Best way to beat the prices on these sites, go loaded up, and drive to a local Chippy
Just had a look at prices for 14 nights August.... £4700! Could get to Australia for that.
Be interested to know what BFG spent on his stay, with expenses.
Thanks for the info!
Less than 12 hours that you so kindly posted your clip and less than 12 hours that I’m committing and I must be the 700th person up to date to leave a comment. Shows how popular you are with keeping us up to date with prices and taste. A house full of woman just like my grandad was, as ive mentioned before.
Yes me and 3 girls lol
Had holidays there as a kid.Memories😃
Reminds me of a Center Parc I stayed at once near Paris. Pre COVID.
The on site mini-market and restaurants were charging double what they should have been.
Taught me to review the Trip Advisor comments section before booking my holidays!
Good information 👍
Jesus , I nearly Chocked on my glass of wine 🍷 with the Shocking Prices of that Supermarket Gaz , but you brought back Lovely 🥰 Old Memories of going camping ⛺️ with my family when I was a LOT Younger mate Lol 😂 Xx
Glad you enjoyed it
Happy days mate
I've had a few Haven holidays but always left the site to find the nearest supermarket to stock up on food. When you go out on your day trips you stop off at the supermarket again on your way back to the site if you need anything. A rare treat to have a takeaway on site but same again, collected a takeaway on the way back to the site. When camping I would buy six disposable BBQ's and cook us all bacon for breakfast, no pan to wash and no fat splatters. Lol
Thank you pal
Great caravan trip gazza and family
I have been to the same site a couple of years ago. I went to the Asda in Barrow for our weekly shopping. The shop and the chippy is expensive. There’s a chippy in the village. Not too far away which was more reasonable. I’m at the Filey site at the moment. Prices here are pretty much the same. Enjoy your holiday 👍
Thanks for sharing!
love the video it looks a nice park❤ i have 3girls they get worse as they get older😂😂
You're welcome 😊
Thank you 😊
This reminds me of supermarkets (and fuel prices) at M-way Service Stations.
Cheers Rob.
Lovely thank you. 😊
Good video
Glad you enjoyed it.
Hope you've all enjoyed your family holiday 😊
In my experience;- A "long weekend" can easily turn out at £1,000 in the UK for a family, even "on the cheap".
I'm glad my kids have grown up & f*cked off.
The onsite shops are usually run as a concession so the shop operator has to pay a hefty fee to the site owners hence the higher prices and yes they are relying on you forgetting things before you travel
We was in a similar situation last weekend 😒 80 Yorkshire TeaBags £4.99p !!!! Absolutely Shocking 😮 Pure Greed 😡
Yes it's getting silly
We got a huge bag of those recently in our local Farm Foods shop. I think it was 560 tea bags in a huge plastic bag and they were £7.89p.
That the why it is at the holiday camps, that about 60p dearer than in londons supermarket for the bread, loves the video as always ❤😊
Happy holidays!
Takes me back to last year , I hired one of those 4 wheel buggies and we went round the park , knackered 😅
We went to Kendal Asda on the way .
Sending the sunshine and some better weather up for ya today 👍 and enjoy the time off too....those chips prices wow....😮 Fish i suppose for the location is ok but chips are milking it somewhat but hey its a holiday so enjoy...you can do a video of the empty wallet when youre back 😂
Thank you. 😊
No Gaz! if you go to camp sites, find the nearest supermarket outside of the camp. Prestatyn has Tesco etc. We like the place so much that we moved here (not the camp but the town)
Hi gareth. Yes spot on about haven camps. Going to blue dolphin near scarborough. Taking all our own food etc. Prices are disgusting. Like you say, theyve got you! Not me! Im a yorhkshireman! Not having my pants down! Lol. Some families go through a good grand on food alone. We tent camping. Usually static, just wanna try under canvas, at my age! (61) wild camped cayton bay here in 81 when i was 19. Cost me f...... all lol. Glad you exposed the trap of food prices. Good call matey. Keep up the good work Andy McCartney, Hull Yorks
Cheers Andy
Looks like a nice place to holiday with kids but the staff should be wearing balaclavas! I suppose if it's a long drive to a market, it's better to pay more for the convenience of the holiday camp shop than the petrol it costs to drive off-site to pick up the one or two things you forgot. Keep up the great videos!
Your videos are always so genuine and 'real', whatever you're talking about. Refreshing change from all the fake rubbish everywhere these days 👍
You're welcome 😊
Been going to Haven most years for quite a while now, love the sites. Soon learnt to avoid the grocery shop, chip shop, and restaurant food. I have never seen prices that high at Haven up north though, and we were there 3 weeks ago. My general rule is if they charge too much, I just walk away! and that applies anywhere.
Thanks for sharing!
The site is really nice and clean, that takeaway is robbery £5 for large chips, the drinks also daylight robbery, but the place looks nice and peaceful and the girls sound happy that’s the main thing ❤
We have done the sun holidays for years. Taking food from Aldi's with us and the sometimes the slow cooker.
