    Vehicle maintenance that I have ever done in the past was pretty basic, that anyone could do. The things you are doing today are on a much higher level. Plus you make this look so easy like a walk in the park. Running a place as big as yours knowing how to do your own repairs is a huge plus! You could be an instructor at a school for mechanics. I love the way your kids come out to support dad.

      Thank you for the kind words! It does help to cut costs when we can do as much as we can by ourselves when time allows. The kids come and go on projects haha, but they do show some interest in them which is good! Thanks for watching!

    I have had great luck inserting one of the lower bolts, in the lower control arm first. I put a floor jack under the control arm and then jack it slowly, checking on the alignment of the top 4 bolts, until I get them started and then jack the control arm up until the strut is tight against the chassis. That way I don't have to hold the weight of the strut while I start 1 or 2 of the top nuts.

    Question: If I do this job myself, do you think I will need a wheel alignment afterward? Someone mentioned that any job in suspension will require a wheel alignment right after.

    Hey Brotha , I have an Edge 2013 and when I drive the steering wheel from one side to the other while the vehicle is quiet, or while it is moving, it makes like knocking noises, do you know what it could be? could be the shock absorber towers?

    • @amidwestfamily112
      @amidwestfamily112  Před 2 lety +1

      Our edge made a popping sound weather it was moving or parked when we turned the wheel from side to side. If it only makes the noise when the vehicle is moving then I would think more then likely it might be something else.

      @@KennethZ17 if you have someone who can help you have them turn the steering wheel back and forth and feel around to see if you can feel it popping. Grab the spring to see if it moves, or see if you can feel any movement in the outer tire rods. I would start there, hope this helps.

    I've never done something like this before, but have done many other things to my vehicles in the past? Is this something I could do on my own or should I have someone that's done it in the past do it for me?

    • @amidwestfamily112

      If you are swapping out the strut assembly as a whole it is fairly easy. You will have to get a alignment done as soon as possible when your done. I would not recommend disassembling the strut without proper training and tools, because that can be extremely dangerous.
