Cable Cars Can Solve Congestion In Europe?

- Are cable cars the future of mobility? With road space at a premium in big cities, urban planners are looking up. Bogotá, La Paz, Medellín lead the way with their electric gondola transportation networks. They offer shorter travel times, avoid traffic jams and don't create polluting emissions, but they need space! And most European cities fail on that count. This is where the idea of a skateboard can make cable cars function in a European city.

ottobahm is just a gagetbahn that looks to only make the situation worse. the answer is very simple. Bicycles, trams and busses
All natural creampies
Agree a capsule that transports less than 4 people is no different than driving.
5:59 The guy who rides in high tech capsule and exercises instead of just walking around the city is the perfect icon on what's wrong with all those hi-tech boys thinking how to revolutionize the world :-)
Why not stack a lot of pods toghether making it more efficient and then put the whole thing underground so it doesn’t ruin the landscape.
Oh it’s called metro
adam something?
But from which point would the cable car to Aachen Hauptbahnhof go? From the Stadtgarten or Lousberg? There arent so many mountains or hills in Aachen :'D I don't see any benefit by this, just build some trams and give the streets back to people.
So now the question is, will this be owned (and built) by governments or private companies?
Is this a "stupid ideas for the rich" contest ?
"make hyperloop even worse" contest
living for these comments
Yep they can reduce congestion but are maintenance intensive and many company will skimp on them then you’ll have accidents
The only place where this would make sense is to cross wide rivers like the Danube or Volga, or for cities built around a large mountain, to get to the top, but this should also be considerate of whether they even want to commercialize the mountain and instead only offer it for hiking. Otherwise, just get rid of cars to reduce congestion, it’s the only thing that’s destroying our cities.
It can even lift cars from point to point if traffic congestion and reduce diease spreading if pandemic happen because more privacy in each cab
Wait for some mischief maker to stop and lower their pod, deliberately jam the doors, and watch while other pods get stuck behind it, trapping their occupants 5m in the air.
one more lane bro… but in the sky…
when the capsules can stop everywhere and lower down, all the following capsules have to stop, so what's the capacity gonna be of this? 500 p / h? Gondola yes, but this Ottobahn (what a goofy name) no
Pensé que esta clase de ideas absurdas sólo se daban en Estados Unidos
It can work for some is the network is well developped and if improvements are made with the other transports like buses and trains. In Antananarivo (Madagascar) we want to build a cable car but I think it will not really works because nothing is do to improve the existing public transports (buses).
Interesting point about the need for improvements in existing public transport, such as buses and trains, alongside new initiatives like cable cars. It highlights the importance of a holistic approach to transportation planning and development.
Some of this projects are too out there and run the problem of overextending themselves
La Paz, Bolivia have suceed in that.
No they cant. Investment in trams and buses and bike lanes will. This just perpetuates status quo
so is cable car that also goes on the groung? isn't it the same than driving it might solve in some parts but it will cause more trafficts in others then where is the pourpose of the cable car on the air 😅specially that it dosn't have a big capacities
Cable car is best as far as energy effic , less polution, public safety and limited disease spreading and look and feel best for crowded city. It is best for new clean generations future. Fir us old people the bus was humbly enough
works for La Paz due to its geography, may not work some other big cities
Interesting. Why?
La Paz has so many hills and some cities are more flat@@DWREV
@@peaceonearth1971 Ropeways work for many dense cities and it is much cheaper to build compared other modes of public transport.
europe isnt congested, Paris Bucharest and london are
Berlin, Rome, Istanbul, Dublin…
@@DWREV Berlin? Go to bucharest dude its literally the second most congested city in europe, 99% of cities in germany arent congested, neither for advanced countries like austria or any scandanavian countries
@@long-black-vietnamese-man Even the little city in Germany where I live (15k people) is completely congested, and the neighboring larger city is a complete nightmare of urban planning with cars everywhere. Here in NRW, almost every city is congested (but its totally flat, cable cars cant help here):'D
@@lunaris7235 i feel like people in Germany some times dont appreciate what they have, take a vacation to shit romania for a week and come back home to appreciate it more
@@long-black-vietnamese-man I feel like you are an idiot. Newsflash all places can be congested some worse than others. Also Bucharest is 4th congested.
ew... its a no for me
Best way to avoid land mine😂😎😍😘🥰🤩
It can had raised platform for loading and unloading rider
Cable cab is safer than flying cars
Interesting point
Bolivian capital??? 🤨
