Welcome to the best band and female vocalist of our time, I know bold statement but if you take the journey you will understand ,the YT fan base is massive,passionate & very active, 80% of which is for the Floor era,she stepped in Oct 2012 ,and has been their 3rd,current & "Final" vocalist ,GLS is the epitome of
Symphonic Metal with more of a classical influence as is many of their compositions but many from this concert are much diverse & heavier ,also GLS is the most reacted to song on YT ever with several vocal coaches having over 2.5 Million views .But this was but a very small taste of what Floor & NW has in store for you. Jukka pronounce Yukka is sorely missed,his passion & energy ,enthusiasm are unmatched.

**there are 2 pivotal events since Floor Jansen came aboard NW in late 2012 #1 Wacken 2013 - #2 Beste Zangers 2019 at this popular Dutch tv show filmed on Ibiza some top Dutch singers past & present get together and the person on the center couch for the day has one of their songs or a song that has meaning to them sung back to them reinterpreted by the other singers,novel idea .
Floor opened the show with the 1st song below and just blew everyone's mind,only two of the other singers knew who Floor was but none of them had heard her sing with such versatility,after the 8 day run of the show Floor's & NW's popularity soared,stadiums filled up and ticket sales shot up.btw since Floor joined NW & after this show NW's fan base has tripled . on Mama by Samantha S.Floor completely changes the tempo and song structure ,the song is about Samantha wanting to be more like her Mom, Que Se Siente by Rolf is originally a merenge ,mambo type song so of course Floor does it her way,Winner by Tim A. he wrote for his brother who has Spina Bifida,

You mentioned hearing something that sounded like bagpipes. I'm not sure where you heard those, but if you continue to listen to Nightwish, you'll get to hear bagpipes! The Irish ones, called Uilleann pipes. Troy Donockley, the English bandmember which you haven't seen and heard yet, plays those on quite a number of songs. The more you listen to "Ghost love Score", the better it gets, and that's often the case with Nightwish songs. The masterpieces needs more than one listening. It's impossible to get even half of the details in the first round.
The combination of a genius composer and writer like Tuomas and a voice nerd like Floor, are some very serious business. Also because Floor interpret the songs in her own way and Tuomas's writing allows this!! Think about that, being able to write poetic lyrics that can handle individual interpretation, without loosing the story...

Just wanted to commend you on your ability to internal music and then speak about it so well. The biggest compliment I can give a music reactor is “I actually want to hear what you have to say”. Lol keep ‘em coming, lots of journeys and side quests to be experienced within the Nightwish catalogue. I can honestly say I’ve never found a band that sounds so different song to song, while some how sounding true to their self. Symphonic metal may be the foundation of the music, but they really have earned their wings across lots of genre-blended skies.
Well thank you Pro-V, I know some folks would rather I talk less, but when I watch others experience music, it always makes me cringe when they stop a track...only to add no value in commentary to what they are experiencing. It's a learning process for me, but it's a little easier when you have a few decades of experience and are passionate about what you hear! Thank you!

It was nice that you mentioned Marco’s bass playing. It gets overlooked because his vocals are so amazing. He has such a great crunchy tone from his Warwick bass. It was also nice that you recognised Emppu’s contribution. He always plays what the song needs. Again his guitar tone is always on point. Wether it’s a crunchy metal tone or a fat front pick up tone for a solo his ESP guitar always sounds perfect.

This specific version of Ghost Love Score is one of the few live performances that I think are just perfect. Usually, because people aren't robots, it is hard to make something sound as good as it does in a studio, where you have functionally infinite takes and as much technology as you need to get it right. There are a few more of these by Nightwish, like Greatest Show on Earth from Tampere 2015 and Poet and the Pendulum from Wembly 2015, that I think are either at this level or beyond.

@@breakdownlounge9541 I would maybe explore a bit more of Nightwish before you hit up Poet, though. There's a ton of Tuomas' history with that song and so knowing more of their work and the history behind the song makes it, and the performance, hit different.
To be fair, this is a recording that's been engineered and recorded for the DVD, so the sound is taken directly from the soundboard and processed as it would be in a studio. If you watch all the performances from Wacken, you can see a few times when things have been "enhanced" a bit by effects or drawing out some of Floors vocals. Not huge things, but what we are hearing is not strictly "live".

The sea figures heavily in many of Toumas' lyrics. The first few words of this song are "Scent of the sea.."
This is Floor's showpiece song so Emppu is content to just echo the vocal line in his solo.
And if you want a Sea Shanty song listen to Nightwish's "The Islander"

I have seen too many reactors that obviously have seen the song before and pretend they hear it for the first time, hoping to get many more subscribers, but you obviously are new to this performance and give worthy comments. Welcome brother! This legendary concert took place in Wacken (vah-ken) Germany. Floor,vocals Tuomas,keys and composer Emppu,guitar Jukka,drums (you-ka) J's are pronounced as a Y, such as Floor Yansen.

I hope you can find the time to react to this TOP LINEUP OF MANY MUSICAL INTRUMENTS/SINGERS: The Source is the 9th studio album from *AYREON* , a progressive metal/rock opera project by Dutch musician Arjen (Ahr-Yun) Anthony Lucassen, released on April 28, 2017. *_”The Day That The World Breaks Down”_* is a song that features all 11 (quite well known) main guest singers (you’ll be surprised) and is taken from that album. Arjen himself is telling (in subtitles) who the singers are and which instruments are used and by which standards.

Another similar band that I'm sure you will enjoy is Epica. They are another European symphonic metal band (Dutch) . They are heavier than Nightwish, but just as complex. Their Singer, Simone Simons, is on par with Floor. Most people start out with the song Consign to Oblivion, live at the Zenith in Paris.

Nice reaction, this is very melodic Nightwish and it clearly shows why it's called symphonic metal. This was song number 13 from the Wacken ( pron. Vahhh-ken - A as in father ) concert and she had been singing well over an hour by then (not counting warm up). She calls herself a technique nerd and that is why she is able to do this, she knows exactly what her voice can do without hurting it. In 2013 she had been with them for 10 months and they mostly played everywhere but Europe, this was her introduction to the European crowds. They headlined this festival and while there were 82,000 people - not only Nightwish Fans - I am pretty sure many left as a fan. This concert is pure gold, not a bad not in it. Enjoy your journey, we'll be there with you.

I really love this kind of content that goes into detail of the songs.
This is my favorite band of alm time playing the best song they’ve done in the best way they’ve ever played it.
This performance is something else. I could watch this performance on repeat for the rest of my life and I still wouldn’t get tired of it.
And Floor is a gidlike vocalist. To think that she had only been with the band for ten months at this point. If you didn’t know that you wouldn’t guess it. She is in total command of the audience, she is so comfortable on the stage and extremely confident in every move and note she makes and hits.
No wonder Nightwish made her a full member a month after this gig.

It is easy to see, once you do a few Nightwish songs, why Nightwish army is so passionate about the band. Nightwish fans are so happy when someone new discovers this, unfortunately, hidden treasure of a band. OK, they are relatively decently known but not nearly as much as they deserve to be. It isn't exaggeration to say this is one of the best bands in the World. Loved the reaction, keep it up!

There are 17 key changes and never resolves, keeping you subconciously on edge, from chord V to 1 until the very end. The genius of Tuomas the composer.

Great reaction! I found Nightwish over a year ago now and they became my favorite band. Amazing compositions and artists on stage. Pretty much incomparable. I'll watch all of the Nightwish reactions you do. They're just that good. Subscribed.
One other band you should check out is Lovebites. They're one of the other bands I have found that have such a high level of talent on stage, and sound better live than they do in studio. It's a rare thing. They're tied with Nightwish as my favorite band of all time. I love them both, but it just depends on my mood, because while you have symphonic metal here, you mostly have power metal with Lovebites. They have one of the greatest guitar duos of all time. Like Nightwish, you can't listen to just one song though. They don't have a bad song, and there's quite a few different things I'd recommend Holy War, live from Zepp, as that is a good entry point, and showcases a few things, but my favorites are elsewhere, to be honest. They're all great songs. Equal to the Nightwish journey, in my opinion. I'd be curious to see what you thought of them, as well.

You'll be old and grey by the time you've seen everything Nightwish have to offer if you only react to them once a month. They've been around for a very long time, and I'm pretty sure Tuomas is incapable of writing a bad tune. All their side projects are extraordinary too.....

Normally the " GATEWAY" song for NIGHTWISH.....just an absolute monster of a song ...the definition of " EPIC" , in most cases after doing a song like this , its all downhill from here but not with NIGHTWISH.....everything is a little different but always remains NIGHTWISH as you already know by doing ROMANTACIDE and now GLS .

Another thoughtful and knowledgeable reaction! As to your remark about not understanding the lyrics, that is totally normal for a musician. A musician is going to listen to the music first. That will engage one part of the brain. The part of the brain that processes language is different. You cannot use both at the same time efficiently. Every song with any complexity has to be listened to multiple times before it can be fully appreciated.

This song was #13 of 15 in the set to put some perspective on it. I don't consider myself a Nightwish fan like the majority of the folks you'll find here. I'm really a fan of Floor's and her solo projects, which, after seeing her solo performances from her appearance on the Dutch tv show Beste' Zangers solidified my fandom of Floor and introduced me to Nightwish. Just FYI, that’s about 70 minutes into the show, and Floor had been killin’ it the whole way already. Also, that’s 82 THOUSAND people hanging on her every word; so, no pressure on her to Bury that (9 second long)high note.... At 6’1 and 170 pounds Floor is a smiling, singing, dancing, enchanting, stage commanding Valkyrie Goddess, and to me at least, a gift from above. Seeing the whole video of this concert, Especially the Floorgasm changed my life. It made me start listening to music again. Your shirt is very apropos for a Nightwish reaction as the owl is kind of the unofficial mascot of the band. The orchestral interlude section is the London Philharmonic they have worked with Nightwish a lot since the album Once.
Oh wow lots of people commented on the owl shirt, I don't know why but I thought it would be a cool shirt to wear for them but you're the first person to tell me it's an unofficial mascot of theirs. The stars align when Nightwish is involved I guess.
Still more than 25 very impressive tracks/performances to go. Some as good as this one, some even better and some absolutely absurd. My calculator says that you've got more than 2 years to go and check out the huge catalogue of this band;-) Succes and have fun.
I always feel like I really need that long ending, coming down from the high (litteraly too) of Floor's last long belt. And yes, some reactors do stop way too soon, thinking the song is over already, so then I keep hyped-up and edgy, without the release of that ending,. I can't relax until the very last hit on the drums!

Good reaction, very professional. I'm not keen on a lot of interruptions and talking during these reactions but yours are structured. Kudos for mentioning the outro. As to what it's about, there is a maritime theme and that's been explored previously in an earlier song, Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean (the relationship between a mermaid and the Devil). Tuomas writes greatly about seas and oceans. But I think it themes around the concept of original sin. ("Relive the old sin of Adam and Eve"; "an angel without care for love ‘n loss" would be the Devil (fallen angel); "The one behind will lead me" could refer to another path but it could refer again to Old Nick as in 'get thee behind me Satan." And of course "forgive the adoring beast". Many Nightwish songs are replete with religious imagery even though Tuomas is (or at least was) an atheist. Nightwish are careful with their choice of colours, The house colour is blue, you see that a lot. Note how at 17:13 - 17:16 (in your video), the sky changes from blue to an ominous, boiling red - the fall from grace, into the flames of hell. The video backdrop they use these days (and on this tour right now) has 11 candles appearing during Emppu's solo, which become one. Candles and religion, there are so many potential connotations of that. Perhaps one day Tuomas will explain it all but I'm not counting on it.
