“Paint It Black” (The Rolling Stones) Amy Winehouse/Back to Black Cover by Robyn Adele Anderson
All my videos are done live, using one take. Arranged by Robyn Adele Anderson - Hudba
OMG So difficult to sing “Paint in black” lyrics over “Back to black” my mind has short-circuited just by listening!
Oh. That's what was going on. Thanks.
Carlos, that was my thoughts exactly. Chris Cornell did it with Metallica/U2 One
So do I
Yeah thanks I wasn't sure ✌️👍
I mean, the music and special arrengament sounds beautiful, I don't understand why they just don't create a totally new song, with differents words 🤷♀️
OK, I'll say it: The Postmodern Jukebox influence is spreading. And that's a good thing. Very good to see a talent like Anderson picking up the challenge--she's doing a great job with this.
Not spreading enough...play it on ur speakers show ur neighbours watchu listen to ... who gives a phauk on what theyll say
Um, she was one of the creators of PMJ, her and her boyfriend Scott Bradlee. Wikipedia doesn't say that but there were many local news pieces on PMJ in 2012 when the first video went viral that referred to the group as a "creation of Bradlee and his girlfriend Anderson." PMJ does great stuff but I always felt that Robyn was the catalyst that made the early videos so appealing.
@@grog000 Interesting!
She makes it fresh and new. No comparison required to enjoy.
ever since I've discovered Robyn and the band, I've exclusively relied on their covers whenever I felt I wanted to listen to a popular song, instead of revisiting the original. Fresh is not always better, but if they're the ones doing the refreshing, then I'd go with fresh
Days after my wife died I heard the Rolling Stones's version of this song and truly understood and identified with it so much more than I ever had before. It almost sounded too cheery to me.
I love this! Keep bringin' the swing!
I'm so sorry for your loss
I‘m so sorry for your loss
You have my deepest sympathy. I can't imagine that.
Back in the 80s, they used this as the theme song for Tour Of Duty and people connected it to Vietnam. I kept telling them-- listen to the lyrics! It's a dirge for a lost wife or girlfriend... I can't imagine what you went through.
I haven't found anyone yet ( engaged back in 2016, but then I found out about her other boyfriend...) but if I ever do, I'd rather die a thousand times...
❤
Am I the only one who wants Jazz to come back into the mainstream
Nope.
This type of jazz? Damn right!
Robyn was born awesome. I've been watching practically everything she's done since Thrift Shop
I’m amazed how you do all these different versions of wellknown songs in a completely different style. Great artists
and?
I dont understand why a singer like her doesn't win a Grammy. I don't know what is wrong with today's music....she is amazing
She’s not diverse for the Grammys.
Because she has a pretty good voice but is hardly outstanding at that sort of level, and is singing a cover version.
For what exactly should she win a Grammy?
@@alexanderSydneyOz Not gonna hapen. Because she is not a Swifty clone.
Frankly, all of the PMJ vocalists are better than 75% of the artist that are the typical Grammy winners.
Easy they favor the ones who make them money then they kick them to the curb
The Stones were massive Amy fans.
They will love this version. Amy is looking down and smiling.......
Nine years after her premature departure, she still remains influential as ever.
or up and smiling....whatever. I love Amy (still)
There's no heaven, but the warm hearts we hold Amy's tragically beautiful memory, but yes, she's there, we all prove it just being here.
Bush Man
Doubt it dude
@@bushman4543 If anybody is looking at us, it's probably sideways.
@@MultiCappie really? was that first part necessary?
That voice, that outfit, that song... This is truly something special
This is the single most talented cover I ever heard ever. Period.
These musicians are nothing but cool, the arrangements are smooth as silk...I'm glad I subscribed.
Check out Post Modern Jukebox for more of Adele and many other great artists.
The lady with the stringed instrument...
@@stephenharper6638The bass?
loved the mix between Rolling Stones' lyrics and Amy's music
I believe Mark Ronson wrote the music.
@@Flowmotion1000 maybe it was, im not that aware but i meant the music for Amy Winehouse song
Emlyn Williams are you kidding? Amy Winehouse wrote the entire lyrics to Back To Black and all her songs
I love this woman so much. She captures the essence of every song she sings. Great backup also. 💕💕
Watch Post Modern Jukebox to know where she was influenced by.
She is a copy cat or PMJ is. This is exactly how they do these arrangements. Now who was first ?
What am I saying? Amy was the first one , of course . I hear no difference . But that strange use of Stones lyrics.
Robyn knocks it out of the Park! Robyn Adele Anderson and Morgan James are two of my favorite singers on CZcams!!
For years I’ve been thinking this would have been a good mash up, wish they’d done it when she was supporting them.
Would have loved to hear Amy sing paint it black
Rip Amy
This version flows so seamlessly I can easily get lost in it and almost forget it's a Rolling Stone cover
I listen to this song about once a week. This version is simply beautiful.
I was lucky enough to see Robyn live with PMJ in Manchester academy she was fantastic
Georgia! We need more of her!
And the cover itself is incredible.
I'm a huge Amy Winehouse fan, so I appreciate anything that's reminiscent of her. I like this a lot.
WOW--- 2 of my all time favorite songs--- I need to see her in CONCERT badass song LOVELOVE
Damn, what a voice. Love the band too.
I love this song, so powerful, so dark. And here she makes the ugly beautiful, the profane, beautiful, a broken heart, whole. 🥀
Love this version, now I just need to see a cover of Sympathy for the Devil
We absolutely need a Sympathy for the Devil cover!!
And Sympathy 4 the Godfather, no?
This absolutely needs to be done!
Check out Motorhead's cover.
Still waiting along for it!
You could tell that the keyboard player was having the time of his life
It's nice to see and hear genuine passion.
Let him paint it as acting
Love it i grew up listing to the rolling stones if my dad wasn't playing their cds it would be their videos 💕
Great Robyn!
I have been following you Robyn since a couple of years and I still don't understand how do you make every cover sound as good as the original version. ❤️❤️
better
Is it just me or this is absolutely perfection, so well captured the essence of the song and still you made yours. I admire so much your taken, thank you!❤️❤️
Not just you:)
It might not be 'just you' !
Bien le bonjour de France.
How was this song NOT played during the movie or credits of Insidious: The Red Door? This fit literally PERFECTLY.
1:58 - 2:10
"I wanted it painted black, black as night, black as coal."
Damn, baby, I *FELT* the pain in that.
This was awesome! I've watched quite a few of the older video's you did with PMJ (that Timber cover is one of my favorites) but your work since surpasses that by lightyears! Never would have thought mixing Amy Winehouse with Rolling Stones would have turned out so good, and I'm oh so happy to be proved wrong.
Love these guys ... real musicians
OMFG... never thought this was possible, two of my favorite songs merged into a single stroke of genius, bravo.
This is genius! 2 classic songs arranged together like that? I simply love it. 🎹🎤👏
Every time i see Robyn Andersen sing.I know it's going to be a great song or show....Much love Columbus ohio
ethanbodybuilder Eyy! Fellow Ohioan.
Absolutely blown away by this rendition such talented musicians and a wonderful vocalist great to know that there's some"real" talent above and beyond groups manufactured like packets of salted nuts!
As a longtime fan of this song, I am absolutely in LOVE with this cover. Thank you.
Honestly, this is the best interpretation I have ever heard of this song with that of Ramin Djawadi (Westworld S1).
you have so much control over your voice it is insane. i cannot imagine how long and hard you have worked to attain that kind of skill. bravo
This is incredible hands down the best cover/performance of this song outside of the Stones.
Boy I can't just stop listening this woman sing, what a beautiful voice she has.
Love this! So many times I have heard this song, but that's the first time I've understood why people respect it.
Just awed and overwhelmed as always by Robyn. But Georgia Weber on the bass is mesmerizing! This is an overflow of beauty and talent!
This hit the Amy vibe so well it's uncanny.... well done!
Got a love the glow on their faces as they read the notes.
Most impassionate effort i have seen.
The horn hits are SO hype. Its just that little bit that puts this over the top into fantastic for me.
This is Art. Thank you for sharing. Two of my favoured Songs combined.
This is fantastic! I love this song in every version I've come across! This is the most original cover ever! Robyn us sublime
I love your style, keeping the old alive. The covers you do are amazing, your band is amazing, keep up the great work (this is my therapy, your voice is so strong and soothing. I'm mesmerized.)
The voice, the outfit and how good she looks in it...WOW! I am out of words.
Hey Robyn, just discovered your work! I’m absolutely blown away! Thanks for staying at it, sharing your awesomeness with the world and being such a phenomenal singer & entertainer. Richard Cheese and you need to duet!!
That is an amazing version. The mix on this is very good, nice balance of your voice and the band.
I recently wrote a book called 'UNDERCOVER: 500 ROLLING STONES COVER VERSIONS THAT YOU MUST HEAR!', and naturally this takes pride of place in it!
Oh Robyn, seldom do all the pieces come together at this level of magic. You guys have done a great job. Your voice and image is beyond description. Kudos to lighting, sound mix and choreography.
Великолепное исполнение и очень оригинально и вообще красавица. Браво Robyn!!!❤️
What a brilliant mashup! And a fantastic singing voice 😊
How did she just mash these two songs perfectly? I'm obsessed!!
Best song youve made so far. Got this on repeat, over and over. Its pure joy to listen to. :)
Got to love CZcams's captioning. "I see your wet dough" lol
Those aren't the original lyrics? Haha.
🤣🤣🤣
Todd M Around 2:10 it has [laughter] where there is none, and would be inappropriate. During an extended o in “coal”. And so much applause everywhere.
[Applause]
Yes, the song is about a pastry chef. He beholds some wet dough and wants to "paint it black" by covering it with chocolate. It's a song of frustration at mediocre pastries.
Bravo!!, Talento, belleza, ....simplemente arte!!!
I see a red door
And I want it painted black
No colors anymore
I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by
Dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head
Until my darkness goes
I see a line of cars
And they're all painted black
With flowers and my love
Both never to come back
I've seen people turn their heads
And quickly look away
Like a newborn baby
It just happens everyday
I look inside myself
And see my heart is black
I see my red door
I must have it painted black
Maybe then, I'll fade away
And not have to face the facts
It's not easy facing up
When your whole world is black
I wanna see it painted
Painted black
Black as night
Black as coal
I wanna see the sun
Blotted out from the sky
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted
Painted black, yeah
No more will my green sea
Go turn a deeper blue
I could not foresee this thing
Happening to you
If I look hard enough
Into the setting sun
My love will laugh with me
Before the morning comes
Gracias
Dankeschön
If you want to write the words up, that's good. But, please get the fuckin' things right.
Great
I still love watching videos over and over. Great timing, sound and beautiful s ladies with awesome voices.
Absolute gold
Every time.
I can't help but cry for Amy.
It was a damn shame.
Incredible talent we're discovering
in quarantine.
This 👧 is just one.
I honestly didn't expect that to work out. But that was splendid. Good going.
I listen to the original version often, and am so glad you've covered it!!
Awesome mashup! Two of my favourite songs from two different genres.
So well done too.
Robyn, you have done an excellent job, with one of the best songs from the world's best band. I just love the wind section. I confess I watched this the first time just to see someone make fools of themselves. I just couldn't envision that someone would, or could do a good job of making a Stone there own. Boy howdy was I wrong. I now listen to your song a couple times a day.
Thank you for the joy you added to my life.
What a voice!
Fantastic cover, Robyn!!!! 😄👍 🙋🏻♂️
I just love this song!
How can people be so talented is something that amazes me every time
That is one of my favorite songs from the Stones. Your reimaging was stellar!
Hi! I'm your listener from Belarus) And u should know: You are incredible!
What a voice. Very apt for this style.
I love how it’s also overtly an homage to Amy Winehouse’s Black to Black. I love this channel.
OK - I'm officially hooked on this lady.
I Just realized the same thing... damnn
That was really cool. Great job by Mr Horn and Mr Wind, it sounded amazing.
Amazing version of Paint It Black. Gorgeous! (Jakarta, Indonesia)
@Robyn,
I absolutely love the focus on times gone by, which you so perfectly recreate in your videos! You're rockin' it, Robyn! KEEP IT UP, PLEASE!
LOVE LOVE LOVE - So glad I found this and your channel! Amazing vocals, arrangement and band and so charismatic! Thank you!
Band: 'Damn, we have only 4 minutes, and still two songs to go.....' Robyn Adele Anderson: 'Hold my beer'.
Love this style of singing!! Fabulous!!!!!!!
This is great!
And now I'm imagining Amy herself actually doing this... I think she could have done it and would have rocked it!
Wow my mind is blowen away... brings warmth to my heart that my favorite song of all time just got 1000% bettter, cant stop putting it on repeat every day and just ... enjoy this in all its perfection... thank you so much for changeing my life
¡Simple y sencillamente exquisita interpretación! 🥰
Excelente escuchar un clásico de los stones en una voz femenina excelente version🇦🇩🇦🇩♥️♥️
I'd never heard this singer/band before...outstanding! I'll be up the rest of the night listening to everything...thank you!
Wow! Never thought I hear a better version than the original. Reminds me over my friends who didn't come back from Nam
Nakonets-to wi sdelali eto!! Ogon'!!
P.S.: Awesome! Thank you for this song!
Por Dios que maravilla de canción mucho mas en tu encantadora voz, acompañado de tu belleza a un ritmo subliminal y espectacular. Con el mejor marco musical de tan buenos músicos. Congratulations!! 👐 👐
UNA MARAVILLA!!!
not only is this diffcult to sing but it realy throws you a curveball ,i love it ,great song !!!!!!!!!!!
This is vivid, intense, artistical, and probably the best mashup i've seen my whole freakin life
Robyn and Georgia, so beautiful!
This is absolute proof that now is the best time in human existence.
Best time was right after WWII. America was on top of the world and the dollar had real, actual value. The list goes on and on of how great it was. As far as music, this girl specializes in old songs, most are many decades old. Seems there is a resurgence of the old styles from the 30s and 40s. The song in the video isn't all that old, but the twist put on it made it her own.
Bolloooooocks

MultiCappie I do think for myself, but no way is this the best time in societal terms

Dear CZcams
My eyes and ears are gratefull for this!
Thank you!
I love your version on this song. Great work y’all. The eye wink at the end was a plus. Beautifully done.
