You know what the Bible says. This speaker is lying to you. If a man divorces his wife except for the cause of adultery and marry another, he causes her to commit adultery. This goes for any persons that divorce without it being for the cause of adultery. This is hard to handle, but it is true. Matthew 19 chapter verses 3-12. Marriage was from the beginning with Adam and Eve. God put the rules in place, and NOT man.

      Amen!!
There are no biblical grounds for divorce. Adultry was under the Messianic Law, and it was applied to uncleanness of the woman - meaning that she was not a virgin. This was mentioned in Matthew bc he was speaking to the Jewish people. He was speaking according to their law. It was the betrothal period before the marriage.
We are no longer under Messianic Law. Christ set us free.
As far as the unsaved spouse, yes, they can leave. That speaks of separation, not divorce.
Any person who is divorced and marries another person is an adulterer and causes the new spouse to be an adulterer. If you have sex outside your marriage, you are an adulterer.
      God does not recognize divorce.
Marrige is a covenant, not a contract. Once one spouse dies, the covenant is broken, and they are free to remarry.

@Beautybartrend. Yes, and once again, Jesus was speaking to the Jewish people. The women were not regarded highly - in fact, the custom was the brides parents would keep the part of the sheet with the blood to prove she was a virgin. If a man learns she had been unfaithful during the betrothal, he would divorce her.
Just as Joseph, learning about Mary becoming pregnant, thought to divorce her quietly. This was before their actual marriage.

@@tereseczimbal8099 you are catholic, then its the church who has the authority to decide on your divorce and any remarriage. There a lot of people here misapplying the Lords words playing devils advocate.
Under what authority given in Bible by Jesus Christ does any partner have to violently abuse wife or husband and or children in any form or commit the act of fornication or forbid a person from practicing their faith as a catholic? Do you think God answers such a persons prayers? Is that person even considered a proper spouse or christian or even civil human being? Any church or person taking the name of christ and justifying abuse for the sake of marriage is not a christian or shepherd of God they are most likely from a cult. I have a friend divorcing after 35yrs of marriage. Husband is a narcissist and my friend stayed until the kids were grown and because she didn't believe in divorce and she didn't want to be like her parents.
they went to counseling together and individually well she went by herself thinking maybe it was her and she needed to change her outlook. Nothing worked. She is 57 and sadly is making the painful but necessary decision to leave. The husband for his part said that it was her alone and the issues were never him. He doesn't see where he needs to compromise or change. He would make excuses for his broken promises and mind games he played making her feel insecure and crazy.
I asked her if she is hoping to find love and maybe marriage again. She responded "no going forward I am living for me. I dont want to deal with another man's drama and baggage. I dont have the energy for that anymore."

      Mark‬ ‭10:2‭-‬12‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[2] And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him. [3] And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you? [4] And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away. [5] And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. [6] But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. [7] For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; [8] and they twain shall be ONE FLESH: so then they are no more twain, but ONE FLESH. [9] What therefore God hath joined together, let NOT man put asunder.
[10] And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter. [11] And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. [12] And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
      ‭‭Romans‬ ‭7:1‭-‬3‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[1] Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he LIVETH? [2] For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he LIVETH; but if the husband be DEAD, she is loosed from the law of her husband. [3] So then if, while her husband LIVETH, she be married to another man, she shall be called an ADULTERESS: but if her husband be DEAD, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.
      ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭7:1‭-‬2‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[1] Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. [2] Nevertheless, to AVOID FORNICATION, let every man have his OWN wife, and let every woman have her OWN husband.
[10] And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: [11] but and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let NOT the husband put away his wife.
[39] The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband LIVETH; but if her husband be DEAD, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
      ‭‭Malachi‬ ‭2:13‭-‬16‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[13] And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your hand. [14] Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy COVENANT. [15] And did not he make ONE? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore ONE? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. [16] For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he HATETH putting away (divorce): for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.
      ‭‭Luke‬ ‭16:14‭-‬18‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[14] And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him. [15] And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. [16] The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it. [17] And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail. [18] Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth ADULTERY: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth ADULTERY.
      ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[24] Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be ONE FLESH.
      ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:4‬ ‭AMPC‬‬
[4] Let marriage be held in honor (esteemed worthy, precious, of great price, and especially dear) in all things. And thus let the marriage bed be undefiled (kept undishonored); for God will judge and punish the unchaste [all guilty of sexual vice] and adulterous.
      ‭‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:4‬ ‭ASV‬‬
[4] Let marriage be had in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
      ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:22‭-‬33‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[22] Wives, submit yourselves unto your OWN husbands, as unto the Lord. [23] For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. [24] Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. [25] Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; [26] that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, [27] that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be HOLY and without blemish. [28] So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. [29] For no man ever yet hated his OWN FLESH; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: [30] for we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
[31] For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be ONE FLESH. [32] This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. [33] Nevertheless, let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

Will she masterbation not make it a sin, nor lasting over a man's body not make it a sin too? Correct elsee7800 and if one spouse is catholic and the marriage was conducted without a priest the marriage is also annulled. Biblical grounds for divorce are chronic abuse in any form, adultery joining sexually with another person not your spouse whilst you are still married, abandonement of the family. It is very clear Jesus standards for marriage and also his teachings on divorce. The catholic church follows them all. This has been my experience as well.

They dont the roman centurion was prime example of faith as Jesus said greatest faith in Israel. Those who are war criminals and who exit the war rules to kill rape and torture civilians and other soldiers are not examples of proper combatants and are judged in this life and next. We have examples of Gods soldiers in Bible. Christians are in spiritual battle with spiritual wickedness, micheal archangel is the greatest warrior angel who commands angels. Mother Mary defeats the dragon. The examples of david and goliath many more. Apostle Paul said we need to fight the good fight. Surrender our will to God and let the Lord grant us to be overcomers in this life as was He.

If you knew the culture of the time you would understand that women were property and you were not free from it legally till the laws had made it so. Also, women not given a divorce was then forced to remarry illegally due to the fact women could not make a living and her children were then considered illegitimate from the second marriage because she had not legally been made free from her husband who did not divorce her properly. Putting a woman away in this days meant you said I divorce you 3 times, tore the ketubah in front of the council of judge's and settled your settlement that was written in your ketubah. Under the law of Moses this was a permitted process. Just cause some people who were writing a book not even the Torah 50+ years after Jesus died and his deciples and Paul who has been proven now to be a bit of a shady character when it comes to Hebrew laws and changing them, seriously means nothing about sin or not and permitted or not. The law was put in place because of people's hard hearts and people still have hard hearts.
So called biblical reasons or not is actually meaningless especially if one spouse has violated the marriage with narcissistic abuse for years. I do not believe god's grace then departs a person from being happy and loved by another. What utter nonsense the church preaches. Using half their book and throwing away what was always originally written.

I've heard repenting seems to do the job for life. It's like a subscription you get for a lifetime.
My friend who apparently was a sinner (in his eyes, not mine, to me he was just a dum-ass) says he'll keep sinning now that he has repent so all is forgiven.
Ain't that right. You can fool God, you can't fool your true nature though.

I don’t understand why people stay trapped suffering in misery and torment because of their of their religion. Particularly the catholic religion which has been exposed as heinously corrupt and malicious. Their purpose is control, just like the narc. Cover ups by the most powerful. It doesn’t matter who your god is he/she forgives. One’s purpose on earth is to be joyous and happy in order to spread joy and happiness and to serve. Serve others with your joy so they can do so too. You are already forgiven so forgive yourself and get out💗

    • @heartofpuregold

God gave the authority to his apostles to forgive sins through Christ, as he says what is bound is bound what is loosed is loosed on heaven and earth.
All authority was given by God to Jesus Christ. Then transferred to his Apostles and then by apostolic succession to the bishops and the Holy Catholic Church.
Open your eyes and ask God to show you if Im right or wrong.
Look at for example the reverance towards Jesus Christ, the Bible during a Catholic mass and also orthodox which is the byzantine catholic faith.
Then look at modern protestant church services in particular the pentecostals and internet preachers, and look at the chaos and showy display where the preacher puts himself as showman or you enter a rock concert.
Christ says before he returns he cleanses his bride of all defects, all sins.
His bride is his body the church and the literal church is stationed at Vatican.
