Pick up Spider-Man The Other here: amzn.to/2eZBWtS
I casually write comics for fun sometimes and it always helps me outline my story to imagine Sal describing it like he does on this show.
That's a good way of telling if it's good or not
What an actually Mint idea
God, how depressed Peter must have been. "MJ, I cant be spider-man without you." "Oh, well that's nice, but i could get over you."
Maybe that's why he made the deal with the devil...
Ben and Tiff's face...when Sal mentioned Spider-Man: Reign. FUCKING PRICELESS.
FFS Spidey, wrap it up for the gal.
Wrap that rascal.
I think that JMS meant to reveal that Spider-Man's poisoning was from his first fight with Morlun, where he won by injecting himself with radioactive waste so that Morlun would be poisoned when he tried to drain his energy.
...And what about that hydra rocket event that taken place before The Other?
@@oldfan4049 JMS doesn't read Spider-Man comics, lol
@@the_rose_garden01 are you sure about that?
~in John Cena's voice~
...Dude....dont bend the spine.....
Lesson learned!
27:20 "... and Spider-Man's new fetus is grown in it..."
The synchronized, disbelieving looks of Tiffany and Ben are absolutely priceless here
they could set Spiderman on fire then choke him then blow him up with a bazooka put what's left in a safe lock it up then put that in another safe chain in up then weald chunks of think iron around it then throw it in the sea have a megalodon shark eat it and have the loch ness monster eat the shark and Marvel would say "He survived"
I can't believe no one liked this comment in five months.
+I Am Gassy thanks
That could apply to do many heros and villains. Batman during final crisis didn't die he was just flung through time.
"We're just gonna keep them together forever. That's what marriage is"-Sal 2015
This simple statement gives me high hopes he and Tiffany will overcome the odds and make theirs last. Belated best to you both!
Yes
Ben's face when Sal explained Spiderman: Reign is priceless
Peter Parker: I died
Doctor strange: ok
Peter Parker: but I'm back now
Doctor strange: well shit happens
My favorite issue from this story was when he was basically doing a bucket list with Mary jane and I really liked the issue focusing on MJ and May having to deal with the fallout of his 'death'.
when tiffany said " this is becoming convoluted" i was thinking oh darling we are just getting starting...having known this story previously
I know...I know. I was a fool!
Sal has it rough when Ethan's away, cos Ben and Tiff are relentless with their insane and hilarious questions
It's true!
Ben's brain just imploded from the whole death spider seamen lmao
Sal and Tiffs reaction to Ben bending the spine of the book! LOL!! Please add in tangents hahahaha
Ben's reaction to Peter getting his eyeball gouged out and eaten, best thing I've seen this week lol love you guys.
"He's got a healing factor BEN."
Hahahaha, love these, keep it up!
JMS is the best Spider-Man writer ever, hands down. It's a shame he received so much pressure from editors to do the Gwen Stacy-Green Goblin and One More Day.
4:27 YAP! That's the face I made to
Nice!
I think the powers are from radiation, but I'm open to the idea that maybe a "Spider God" put those events into motion.
XEspadaSaDiosX they made him a totem hero like black panther.
the look that ben gives at 12:45 is priceless!
Great reactions in this episode, especially Ben's double-take at the spider-carcass (26:30-ish).
This is the great part about having these stories explained to us when we haven't read them before, and one of my favorite aspects of the show.
I got school tomorrow but, who needs sleep when you can watch an episode of back issues?
Watch it at school! Convert your friends! We'll have an army of teens!
Snow week for me. I'm going to do a marathon in your name man.
I don't think a army of teens would be a good idea, you read young avengers.
***** Thanks man! Godspeed!
TV Little House Comics As a teenager, I can confirm that there are many other teens who enjoy your show :)
Great episode! I actually really like Straczynski´s duo with John Romita Jr. at the beggining of his run, the epic first fight with Morlun, the kid with a gun in the school, and the homage to 9/11 is beatiful. I spent part of my high school reading this comics and is a really precious memory i have. Good luck i didnt read The Other after that!
That staring contest between Sal and Ben though.
The Other was what caught my curiosity to regular Spider-Man, funnily enough. Then I left it and got back to just USM right after the moon stone story.
"is it lead poisoning?! Bapapapa" LOL!
Sal, Ben, you guys should win a grammy for that performance there at the beginning.
Thank you, we do our best! And the Academy can send the award to us at our PO Box.
Palpatine's clone revival influenced Morlun, who then influenced... Palpatine in Rise of Skywalker?
Ben on Jarvis & Aunt May when he brings flowers-- "skrull or not, good man" LOL
I love Ben... but he is seriously lucky Tiffany is on the other side of Sal.
"Was it lead poisoning?" said Ben,
and in a fit of righteous indignation, Tiffany performs a mortal kombat fatality by ripping off Ben's head. Sal, with a look of shock on his face, blinks at the blood and back to Tiffany. In the wake of the aftermath Sal is left with only one thing to say...
"Flawless victory."
great episode guys!
Strategic seating, though when I bent the spine, I thought Sal was going to do the same thing.
The thing that was killing Spidey in this story should've been radiation poisoning, since the spider that bit him was radioactive lol
Bapapapapa. Hahahaha omg that was hilarious! And Sal and Tiffanies expressions, Priceless!
Thank you!
***** hey now...its "TheRealZube"
***** You're both incorrect gentlemen!!! Tiff goes by Zube-pocalypse.
yeah that was great, it's like the cornier the joke the funnier Sal and Tiffany's expression!
Ben, your reaction at 17:59 is priceless! LOL!
Some spiders do in fact have venom fangs which can emulate stingers, this is the basis for Miles' venom blast power. The venom is injected by the fang like things on Spiderman's arm while a stinger would be left in the victim until removed.
About the whole wrist stinger thing, spiders fangs are actually modified arms. Biologically it makes sense.
Just listening to this frustrates me immensely
"Do you have a brain squegee?"
Ben is just gold
26:33 I don't know if its been said but I'm going to say it anyway.
Someone call Kraven!!!
I love the fact that the cover of the issue shows up in the background.
It is a really nice touch.
Good job as usual guys, keep it up.
ben is on his A game today lol
thank you!
It was bound to happen sometime ;-)
I remember seeing a bunch of YT videos of this when i was 8 and i was so scared for Spiderman. I was doing hard core research to see if he comes back. None the less the fight had me in tears
Has anyone ever asked Straczynski what his plans for "The Other" were if he had continued writing Spider-Man? I know Peter David tried to deal with some of that stuff during the Back in Black storyline. Then later Kaine and MC2 Peter became The Other. But Straczynski seemed to be building to something, before forgetting it and moving on to other things (I think Civil War was next).
Kudos to the editing on back issues. Well done!
Thank you for uploading this tonight ! this is the perfect way to relax, after spending the most of the day/night working on a take home essay for my advertising class,
My pleasure, Crimson!
Tiffany on another Back issues episode, is always a good day! Keep it up guys!
Save Ferris... That is a crazy 90's flashback...
Great episode,one of my favourites!
Thanks Mossy!
Super fun episode. Can't wait for next week.
Can you guys do a video on "One More Day"? Would love to hear you're take on the whole Mephisto situation. In my opinion, worst idea on retconning a character, EVER.
Spider-Man Giant Sized 30th Anniversary Special Vol.1 No.26 from 1992. I love that you referenced the ONLY worthwhile book that I still have. I love it because of its exposition of his powers in the end. Though as I am flipping through it, the main story of the issue is as you said, a filler. The art is cool. Very classic early 90s stuff.
Yes! This guy gets it!
Hahahahaha, this comic is pure black comedy gold!
Spider-man, the let's just make Stinger happen book.
I was a huge Spider-man fan but like Sal pretty much dropped out after the Clone Saga. I want to thank you guys and this show for helping me remember what I liked so much about the character and his stories.
funniest show ever , keep up the good work
You guys are awesome keep up the good work.
Thanks, Josh!
I still don't know how marvel read this event again, and they were like: "We need to make an event out of this, let's call it Spiderverse" Great video, realy funny!
OMG Awesome Save Ferris shirt!
Holy crap! Ben's grossed-out face just makes my day every time! xD
I liked jms run on spider man, i don't mind the mysticism part, spiderverse isn't to bad either. I hope they find a good writer for asm title, i think dan slot has done a awesome job but he deserves a break from it
Every time they try to give Spidey a new villain I just ask myself "why isn't this Venom?"
I think it would be hilarious if the spider totem explained the ultimatum exactly like sal "You got a to choose man, gotta be the man or the spider" "Nah you can't be both"
Ben at 34:02 lol...
"So strange"
This whole thing sounds like what would happen if Frank Miller wrote Spider-Man.
the funny thing is when i was 10 i made a character named insectoid that had wolverine like stingers
Did he has led poisening? BAM BAM BAM BAM!! Freaking priceless.
Thank you, I try :)
Going back and watching these old episodes is a wild experience. I'm surprised by how well they've aged. Sal and the gang do great work and seemingly always have!
They did use those stupid stingers throughout "Sensational Spider-Man," where they had him fight that lady made from spiders.
Tiffany, your smile is amazing. Helen of troy (could release 1000 comments)
I gotta say... The intro music to Back Issues is really neat!
Thanks!
34:11 Sal and Tiff sound like they're about to have a heart attack
shout out to the amazing background looks amazing
Thank you, Elton! Glad you dug it
Ahhhh Yeahh.!Another Back Issues! Awesome video guys.! Hope Ethan is better!
Oh yeah, he's good. Went up north for the weekend so Tiff filled in again!
Thats good to hear :D and Tiffany is an awesome fill in!
TV Little House Comics Fill in? I say we have all 4 now... Tiff is part of the gang!
Well of course, i never meant it that way, she is part of the gang! Considering she basically gave the idea for Back Issues.
Another great show guys. I really enjoy watching Back Issues every week, along with your other shows. Just wanted to ask, since it was briefly mentioned in your Pre-Snow Artist Event episode, if there is any chance of you guys covering Spider-Man:Blue in a future show? Perhaps around this February to coincide with the book's Valentine's theme?
Anyways, keep up the great work.
Is Tifanny wearing a Bebop shirt? If so, I approve.
she is, and it rocks!
editorial: um...jay...? yeah. you can't do th--
jms: says who?
editorial: well, it doesn't fit in with the official continuity.
jms: I MADE BABYLON 5! RESPECT ME
editorial: cool. cool. do what you want dude *walks away*
jms: "continuity"...? dafuq does THAT mean?
It actually explains the stingers in the book the female other thing says that spiders don't have them now but later because of evolution sooooooooo that's why he has stingers.
Much like how Morlun's stupid family sucks up Spider souls, I could see Sal's description of this story suck away whatever sense of wonder or delight Tiffany and Ben may have had about Spider-Man.
I would love if you do Spider-Man Disassembled
Loved it. I love Spider-man stories, even the really bad ones. Btw, who's Ferris?
Also, do you guys think there should be more Ben Reiley and Kain?
Also... do you have a brain squeegee?
I can't wait for Maximum Carnage week at TV Little House!
I like this story a lot by the way.
I was hoping you would mention that awkward moment where Wolverine asked Mary Jane out.
After reading this story and watching this I feel like it could've been done in #6 issues instead of 12.
Wait... Disney owns Marvel. Disney owns Star Wars. Marvel makes the Star Wars comics now. Morlun IS Palpatine. Also I propose we call Morlun's family "the Morlunatics."
Seconded!
Kingdom of hearts, with star wars and marvel........ Nerd explosion
Marvel made Star Wars comics in the seventies as well
A Sith lord?
18.00: Ben's reaction is priceless. :D
I laughed at your joke, Ben!! hahah
great video, i lold hard. had the same feeling back when i read it all those years ago. The concept of the story is great but its such a shame that the writers did nothing with the concequenses of choosing the other. But then again this is basically what marvel stands for. The pay-off to an awesome storyline never really delivers. before they get a chance to do something cool with the outcome of one storyline, the next major event destroys everything
I actually dig the spider-stingers idea to this day XD
If i remember correctly the stingers were explained as spiders will eventual evolve stingers. Oh and Kaine uses the stingers and i think he is the only one that ever uses them in any universe
Ben saying "does it even change it" is exactly how I felt about the totem stuff that is so hated. I always thought JMS' whole point was that its both, a synchronicity thng.
Ben pulled a Bane with that spine bending
Dang it Sal, you should have done Book of Ezekiel before this one. But nonetheless a great episode as always!
I think Ben could do a killer impression of the Monarch from the Venture Bros.
I know sal does a good one. I believe he did his monarch (or Orpheus, pretty sure it's monarch) conversationally and without thinking to Jackson Publik when we ran into him and Doc Hammer at NYCC.
12:59 ok tif calm down don't brake the book
yeah, that's MY job.
Look at Ben's right eye at 26:32
Haha great show, seeing this explained was priceless. I remember picking the comic up in a store flicking through and seeing the eye gouge and just thinking F that. What the hell happened to Spider-Man comics?
I'm sure Sal remembers but Marvel already did the "man or the spider" thing just before the clone saga kicked off, but it was just Pete losing his marbles after all the crap that had been happening to him. It sucked.
David Cronenberg`s Spider-Man ( be afraid , be very afraid ) starring Jeff Goldblum as Peter Parker and Geena Davis as MJ
Great facial expressions by both Tiffany and Ben in this ep. And I acknowledge that The Other is kind of a mess but I frickin loved Spider-Verse. I had so much fun reading it and having all the alternate spiders together was a great idea imo. I disagree with you guys like 95% of the time but I still think your channel is just awesome. Looking forward to when you do Spider-Verse so I can disagree again completely when you shit on it lol.
I hace to wonder if the idea of Peter "embracing the spider" was him taking on the full power he was suppossed to have, but it would also come with greater responsibilities, per his motto. Maybe he would have taken on more animal-themed, mystic-based threats. Just a shot in the dark.
Iornman hit the wrong button...Release the kraken!
The rum, though.
Lmao this is true my good friend this is true
Love the new place your filming what happened to the store
Thanks! Schedules worked better here, that's all.
Plus we have a couch. Couch trumps all!
