FordTechMakuloco Hi, I’m a new subscriber to your videos. Lots of great information. I have a 2012 Escape and I looked through the library to see if I can find anything regarding the constant vibration when idling with the 2.5L engine. Have you ever done any diagnostics on this issue? Ford doesn’t seem to have a fix for it even after having the issue for several years. I did read once that replacing the motor mounts with aftermarket ones can help because Fords are too stiff. Another issue I have is a front end rattle when going over bumps either left or right. I have replaced the sway bar links but not the bushings. I have checked the front end several times both loaded and unloaded and I can’t find anything that would create the noise. The struts are original at 140,000 KM. Could they be worn out? I’m tempted to just replace them and the control arm assemblies at the same time and be done with it. Any suggestions you can offer would be appreciated.

FordTechMakuloco I followed your videos and changed the entire timing system , timing cover, and left side valve cover.
My 5.4L ran great for two days at all speeds , then suddenly the car went back to a rough idle and gave me codes P0018 and P0022, saying "camshaft position correlation" and "A- camshaft position , timing over-retarded"
I disconnected and reconnected VCT VALVES which didn't fix it, I also changed out cam shaft sensors which did not help.
I am still getting these codes and a "check gauges message just like the symptoms were before. I bought all OEM parts. everything went smoothly until now and I'm dreading having to take the timing cover back off. What should/ can I do next? You're the professional and I await your knowledge. Thanks for all the great informal videos.

When you're under the pump stuff like this happens. We have all experienced these sorts of scenarios. Few things are as frustrating as having to pull down a job you have just completed to correct a problem. The fact that you had the presence of mind to make a video of it says much about your professional approach and demeanor. Not always easy to stay cool after a long day when things don't go to plan!

I have a 2010 F-150 with a 4.6 l three valve and it is showing the p0345 code which says camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction bank 2. I replace that camshaft position sensor because it was bad but I'm still getting the same code. Watching your videos one of them led me to believe it was just my VCT valves going out but now I'm not so sure and think I may have to at least replace my cam phasers if not have an entire timing job done.

I'm hoping this is the problem with the junkyard reman engine we just put in our 05 f150. It's an engine out of an 07 expedition that was replaced in 09 according to the tag on the side. I have p0340 and p0344. Runs smooth no misfire or loss of power. Just using a cen-tech scanner from harbor freight so I can only get so much info. But from what I have gathered it's in time.
So hopefully when I pull the valve covers it's just this simple fix, it honestly looked when I had the valve covers off for the solonoids the phasers looked brand new.

Currently dealing with chasing down an issue. I had no CEL and all of a sudden my truck stalled while reversing, I cranked it on and drove hm. I pulled codes and got multiple Tb codes. I replaced the tb motor and the Tb codes didn’t go away even after clearing. It then went into limp mode (cel light and wrench lights came on) there was no acceleration. I then got a dorman tb and swapped that on. I was able to accelerate but it stalled again while reversing. Pulled it inside and the code was P0340 and P1000. I sent it to the shop because that was the first time seeing that code. They got an imrc code but I figured it was for my intake and I put my tune that’s required for the intake back on the truck. That code cleared and there’s no CEL ever since installing the Tb. They referred me to a ford specialist as they found nothing wrong with wiring. The ford specialist had me go get a ford Tb from dealership and cleared codes but the imrc came back on so he’s pulling the intake manifold now. I need help because I’m scared they’re gonna do that and a new code pop up

Gm is the most reliable. the hype with fords is the moster truck look to them, thats all but the idiots that designed it put the engine inside the cabin. Idiots. Hey on the bright side fordtechmakuloko business will thrive.👍🏼 Ford is a piece of crap because they never owned up on these phaser issues with a recall as customer loyalty. they screwed us all.

Hey Mak, great video. I've watched the other cam phaser videos hoping to find an answer or insight into a problem I'm having. I have an '09 F-150 4.6L that intermittently throws a P0345 code but no others. When the code is thrown, the truck runs rough, feels like it's going to stall out and sounds like a cold VW Rabbit Diesel. I shut the engine off and left it overnight. When I started it up again, the check engine light was off. I drove the truck to the shop with the code still in the PCM the very next day and even though the code was still in the PCM, they said it was "running like a champ". From experience, I know it will come back - might be in a day, might be in a week. The shop told me it was a cam phaser sensor issue and said there's nothing they can do if it doesn't have the problem in the shop. They recommended an oil change with a MOA additive as a start, but said this problem could lead to an entire engine replacement. The whole thing sounds fishy to me. Thoughts?

@Mrtoddmontgomerysr I had accidentally put the L and R on the wrong sides. So, basically, I put crank back in the right pos and realized it. Just made me some wedges to stick between chains and flipped the phasers 180*. I had put the L on the left when you're lookin at the engine, which is the R. Pass side is R and driver side is L! Can easily happen to you. I've done alot of these trucks. This is the only one I'd ever had a problem with. Lol

Update. It was a bent tab. I did the test of remove vct solenoid. No difference. Ohmed out the wiring and connectors. Swapped left and right sensors for the heck of it. No good. Hooked up my oscilloscope to it. Noticed 2 spikes sort of far apart and 1 small spike and 2 large spikes close together. Removed cover. Sure enough 1 was bent. Straightened and no more error code. Just need to wait for the permanent code to clear.

The Engine is new with around 4000 miles, the builder (BRENSPEED) put in all new FRPP timing components, Phasers, lifters, Cam followers etc....
If timing is off on bank 2 would the code come on during a drive or wot pull?

Hi all. Wondering if you guys could help me with an issue I’m having.
    2010 f150 xlt v8 5.4. 140k miles
Pickup drives five but every now and then (not always) when I come to an idle, or take off of the accelerator at a low speed or come to a stop and the vehicle comes to idle my engine starts to do what I can only describe as a “clunky shake”. The shaking goes away if I bring the RPM’s up, and stays gone once the rpms drop back down to where they were when it started. My power seems fine at most speed and my acceleration seems fine.
Thoughts? Thanks for the help. I’m in a very rural area so I would like to have a good idea of my issue before I venture way out of my way to a reputable mechanic.
Some people have told me phasers, more people have told me spark plugs are bad and misfiring.
