One of my favourite opening credits. So creative and colourful.
At the time, Morton DaCosta's first Oscar nominated picture was 1958's Auntie Mame for Warner Bros-Seven Arts that featuring the dazzling title
sequence by Wayne Fitzgerald, undeniable matte shots by Albert Whitlock and lively main titles/optical effects were done by the folks at
Pacific Title.
I LOVE this. I can remember when I saw it in the movies. I was 11. I always get goosebumps about 1:25 when the tempo changes and the twin pianos come it.
This is, in my opinion, the most beautiful opening sequence in film history. Itâs delightfully whimsical, but in a very elegant way. The breathtaking score is the cherry on top of this masterpiece.
Simply the best!
This movie is so special to me.
The only regard in which the 1974 musical "Mame" is better than this one is its more exciting opening titles sequence (which promises a lot more than the rest of the movie delivers).
Simply the best !
