  • What's better, Google or Facebook Ads? Well, we're about to find out. This is what $1,500 gets you in website traffic, Facebook Ads versus Google Ads.
    RESOURCES & LINKS:
    ____________________________________________
    Facebook Ads: business.
    Google Ads: ads.google.com/
    Ubersuggest: neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/
    ____________________________________________
    Facebook Ads spend reached $31.43 billion in 2020, despite COVID 19. Now, in 2021, they did even better, and they continually to just keep growing. And they're poised to increase by a whopping 20%-22% in the next year, according to eMarketer.
    Facebook Ads and Google Ads are some of the most important ad platforms in the market today. Not only because they have a huge number of people that you can reach, but it also drives results.
    I wouldn't be in business or a digital marketer if I was spending a dollar to lose a dollar. I'm in digital marketing, because when I spend a dollar, I make more than a dollar. And there's a couple of reasons on why digital marketing is so amazing.
    It's because your ability to segment your audiences and reach very specific groups of people in almost instant timeframe. You also have a lot of data to understand what's going on, what's not working, where you should invest more, where you should invest less, because not everything's going to work out the way you want.
    Now, let's say, you had $1,500 to spend on paid ads, how much traffic would you be able to generate?
    First off, the industry you're in. If you're in things in like going after cases, let's say, in like legal, or mesothelioma, or auto insurance, you're going to get a lot less visitors than if you're in, let's say, e-commerce.
    How many competitors are willing to pay for the clicks in your industry, also, affect how many visitors you're going to get. Also, how well crafted and targeted your ads are also affected. If your ads suck, people don't want to click on them, you're not going to get a lot of visitors and you're going to have to pay more for each click, because it's costing these networks money to show up yours ads.
    Now, whether or not you're doing remarketing or retargeting, that's another question, because that can affect your cost. Seasonality is a huge one. If you're selling Christmas trees, you could bet, if you're selling Christmas trees in February each year, probably not going to get any clicks.
    Now, according to WordStream, in the real estate industry the average click-through rate is 3.71%. That means you get on average 189 visitors a month with an average cost per click of $2 and 25 cents, and this would cost you an average of $427. And it would take you roughly three months to spend all your budget. By the end, you have roughly 667 visitors.
    Now, with Facebook Ads, it's hard to predict how many clicks you would get and in how much time. But based on the estimation costs from WordStream for real straight industry, we can at least get a sense of how many visitors you would get and roughly at what cost per click.
    According to WordStream, per click on Facebook Ads targeting real estate it would be around a dollar and 81 cents. If you take a budget of $1,005 and divide it by a dollar and 81 cents that will lead you to roughly 828 clicks.
    Now, I'm not saying that these would be the actual numbers that you would see in real life in a campaign, but it gives you a pretty good idea and rough estimations based on previous data. In theory, Facebook Ads will give you 161 visitors more than Google, but that would depend on how your ads are performing on both platforms.
    Overall for most businesses, we see them spending more money on Google, because Google converts better. So, if I were you, I wouldn't just use Google or Facebook, I would use both. As long as it's profitable, keep scaling them both up.

    Good call Neil. We need to continue to remind others that when someone searches on Google those users are actively searching for that product or service (high intent to purchase) while on facebook users are just browsing/looking/reading with zero intent to want/need any product or service (very low intent to purchase). But, at the end of the day, we need to use the platforms and methods that work best to meet our goals so test, test, test.... :)

    My business spends roughly 85% of our paid marketing budget on Google Ads and 15% on Facebook Ads. It's giving us a pretty good ROAS and ROI year after year but the 85/15 breakdown itself is more intuition than data. Also, putting some videos on CZcams was an excellent idea when we started.

    Google Lead Ads vs FaceBook Lead Ads should also be a topic as well

  • @joelriert3340
    @joelriert3340 Před 2 lety +9

    It depends on what your product is, in most cases Google will always convert better because that traffic is in a different stage of your marketing funnel as you said. Facebook have always been better when you want to create awareness, it will take longer to convert that traffic into customers. Although if your product have a lot of competitors and you have a new brand, you will most likely need to spend more to compete with ads to get those conversions on Google. Never put all your eggs in one basket, you will need traffic from more than one source.
    If you work with multiple channels of traffic, a weighted attribution model is almost a must have. If your conversions have multiple touch points this is very important. A lazy solution would be to just increase spend on Google and lower it on Facebook because Google is the source that gets attributed with the conversion. But if most of your leads is coming from Facebook your revenue will most likely drop if you cut that spend.
    I have used a combination of Facebook, Google and email marketing in my strategies for years, where I have seen that you can increase Google conversions with Facebook ads. The search volume on certain keywords will be higher and your organic search traffic will also go up over time when spending $ on creating awareness on Facebook. But if you want direct conversions, Google is king!

    • @neilpatel
      @neilpatel  Před 2 lety +3

      Exactly, friend! Different mediums are going to catch your audience at different points in the marketing funnel :) That doesn't make one medium more important than another.

    One thing to add: “clicks” in Facebook Ads are not all link-clicks. It also comprises clicks on the profile name/picture, likes etc. Thus, facebook ads probably generates less clicks than google ads with the same budget

    • @mokkimheng2728
      @mokkimheng2728 Před 2 lety

    Facebook ads are a complete rip off! Ive been running ads on facebook for the last 3 years pouring 1000's of dollars into their coffers each month with stupid returns on investment. I stopped those paid ads after major issues with the platform, started new a business page and personal profile and posted normally into groups and my page and getting a 10x improvement in sign ups of my memberships WITHOUT spending a single dime! This led me to figuring out that the paid ads never worked to start out with or over time ad accounts quality declines and they put your ads lower in peoples time lines. I'm so peeved I even spent that money because it's clear Im getting more business from the platform without spending on ads and those that I thought came from ads actually were organic

      They're all relatively the same! Freelance copywriting and social media may be a good one to start on!

    Lets say I am selling an indirect product like a Flower & Bud Ring. Nobody has heard of such a ring, but it is very unique and very cool. How good is google ads going to be in this case?

    You say that google ads convert better than facebook ads for you. I have noticed recently in the last month or so that google no longer has the shopping tab when you go into the browser. However you can still create google ads ofcourse. Has this change by google affected your number of sales with google ads?

      I haven't seen a change, personally! However, I don't offer psychical products. Mine are all digital.
