To order a new Genie GK-BX Intellicode Wireless Keypad: amzn.to/2Mz2cQw
Universal Garage Door Opener Keypad Compatible with LiftMaster Craftsman Chamberlain Genie: amzn.to/3BtNn9o
“As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you.”
The Genie GK-BX garage door wireless keypad was not working half the time. As I was troubleshooting I noticed some of the numbers did not light up when pressing them.
After taking it apart I noticed some oxidation on the board on top of the number keys that were not working. Cleaning off the oxidation with (0000 grade) Steel Wool did the trick, easy fix.
If this does not make it work then the next option is to change the code to a different set of numbers.
Choosing to repair wireless keypad will save you between 40 and 50 dollars depending on the make and model.

Of all the videos I looked at, this was the BEST! I did what he said. Didn't have steel wool, so VERY lightly rubbed the circuit board with the lowest level sandpaper. And MAGIC, the dead keypad came to life. Thankyou sir.

Thank you😊 Exactly what I needed. I had corrosion on the battery connection on the board, so it wouldn’t work. Cleaned it off and works perfectly now.

Perfect! WORKS again...! Mine looked reasonably clean inside compared to yours but was still very finicky. I had some medium steel wool in the garage so I took my chances, made no damage to the board, used some contact cleaner and light film of dielectric grease over circuit board, button pads and a bit on battery terminals. Thanks!!! So easy, why didn't I try it long ago???

If it’s not too oxidated and only some powder you can use some rubbing alcohol. Mine was too much, I waited to long so I had to use the 0000 steel wool. Let me know how it works out. Have a great weekend.

Use an eraser to clean the contact surface on the circuit board. Then wipe down with some iisopropyl alcohol to clean up the eraser and residue. The board has a conformal coating that protects the solder runs. You run the risk of scrapping it off if you use steel wool, once exposed the board will easily corrode over. Also clean the keypad with isopropyl alcohol only. There is a thin layer of graphite on the back of the buttons. When the buttons are pressed this is what closes the circuit for the number or function. If the material gets scrapped off or wears off the affected button(s) will not work.
