Extremely well made video with excellent concise information, no nonsense, no hype just valuable education. Thank you, liked & subscribed (how could I not).
Sir, you just saved me a BUNCH of money! 💰 I did everything you said, but what REALLY helped me was you showing me where to locate the screws to remove the keypad since it's not near the garage door, but around the corner right outside my front door. You're a Godsend, sir. For making this video, I say: THANK YOU!!!

Thank you for the video! I had changed my combination because the keypad numbers worn down. I was able to break open the keypad and clean off the circuit -with steel wool - where the pads had left residue on the circuit. Glued back together and all good!
THANK YOU - Spent hours trying to follow owners manual instructions to the T. Watched this video and BOOM! I immediately knew that our buttons were wore out from same 4 numbers for years. Used 4 new number and BOOM, worked first time. I will now order a new one from your Amazon link. Thank YOU!
Oh, my gosh! Thank you so much for this video. I had no idea it required a battery. I'm an 80-year-old widow who just saved herself over a hundred bucks thanks to you!! I'm now a subscriber!
I always thought it was hardwired, never occurred to me that there was a battery, I changed the battery, and it works!! Thank you for the tip!
Never had a keypad till I moved into my condo. I've lived here 3 1/2 years, never knew about pressing enter only, to close. Will check out the battery also and how to change the code. Thanks Scott. Always something good here. :)
OMG! Thanks so much. I was thinking that I had to replace the remote and after watching this I realized that we had just worn the numbers out by using the same ones for so long. The remote works again. Yay! You really can learn from watching others do things.
Clear, concise and helpful. This was the best home fixit I’ve ever seen on CZcams. Immediate subscription. Thanks
You sir are my new favorite goto! I've been trying to figure out for hours what I was doing wrong. Watched your video and knocked it out! Thank you!!!!
Simple and straight forward analysis and renewal instructions. Good job indeed
Thank you SO MUCH! I had no idea what was wrong with my keypad. It’s 10 years old so thought it needed replacing. In 39 seconds you helped me fix the problem: it just needed its 9V battery replaced. Whew. Thanks!!!
i can't believe how much time you saved me! i was getting ready to buy a new keyless remote. i never thought to change the numbers used for the code! used new numbers and now it opens on one try!!!
Thanks for the well done video. I looked at several before getting to your video which helped me resolve the problem without buying a new keypad. I changed the keypad to four different numbers since the other numbers were worn down over the last ten years.
You just saved me $50. I was just about to call it quits and buy a new one, when it turns out I’ve been using the same numbers and my buttons were worn out. Thank you!
Amazing!! This was so simple and so helpful. Who knew it worked like this. My keypad was worn out, changed the code and now it works!
My keypad has not been working for quite some time, even after I changed the battery. I thought I would give it one more try before I bought a new one. I put in a fresh battery and tried the old code and I got nothing. I took your suggestion to try and reprogram and it actually worked! I appreciate you and I have subscribed.
There again. I never knew that pushing the ENTER button will close the door. A hint to all that when programming the unit just be carful the other neighbors are not doing their own programming at the same time. It happened to me and when I opened mine, it also opened my neighbor’s door. It took me a while to figure it out. Thank you for sharing. Very informative as always
Thank you. I just found my keypad won't light up as it should and wouldn't open the door. Watching this video taught me a lot. I always thought the keypad was hardwired into the garage. I have the chamberlain brand. Seeing this I know I can fix this on my own. Thank you!
Much Appreciated, Enjoy your 'No Nonsense' way of explain a fix and Your level of detail.
I followed his instructions, changed the keypad code, and it worked perfectly. Thanks.
Thank you for your help! You are a great instructor and gave clear explanations and instructions!👍
Excellent video I’ve tried changing the battery it still didn’t work then I replaced it. Thank you for showing how easy it is to replace. It worked very quickly within five minutes. Very helpful
What a precise video ! This literally covers 99% of the possible issues. And even a 2 year old should be able to follow his narration :)
Thank You Scott for making this easy to follow video as this is the issue I was having with my keypad.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. As a DIY person I've been able to complete more projects around the house.
Great video thank you so much. Mine was always taking three or four tries I changed the code to some fresh unused numbers as you suggested and it seems to be working great now thank you again!!
Thank you - after watching this video I went out there and fixed my problem! Keypad is working perfectly now.
I had already replaced the battery in our key pad…changing the pin did the trick…a new subscriber.
Really helpful, never knew that just pushing enter would close door without the code and one of my numbers was worn out so I just changed the code and presto….worked perfectly.
Tip: remember to inspect each key especially the enter key. Sometimes the rubber coating gets stuck depressed inwards. The keypad will not longer work if this happens. Gently pry outwards any stuck keys with your fingernail and try again.
Thank you! Your video is so simple and easy to follow. You made my Thanksgiving even better the garage door is now working.
Thanks Nora, appreciate the kind words and have a great Thanksgiving 🦃
Thank you so much for sharing this information ~ it's just what I needed. Wishing you and your loved ones many blessings!
Thanks for this video. Saved me replacing my keypad. Did not consider that numbers may wear out. Changed to different numbers and all good.
Thankyou was about to purchase new keypad but your tip was right on put in new code with new numbers worked like a charm
Thank you, I've been having a problem for a couple of weeks with my keypad. Two minutes of watching this I've got it fixed.
Thank you! The backlight was on, but I went ahead and put in a new battery as you suggested and it is working again!
Thank you so much for this!! This was the easiest best explained video I’ve found…hopefully I’ll be back to say it worked by tomorrow!
Thank you making this video. Such a simple fix to something I thought was a way bigger problem. Clear and concise. I will definitely be subscribing.
Sounds crazy only have an issue with keypad in the winter. As soon as it warms up no problem.
Thank you so much! You have saved me quite a bit of money, ordering a new keypad now. Thank you thank you!
Wow, great video! I had no idea that the keypad was not hard wired. My door problems seemed to have started when I programmed a new car to the opener this weekend. Today, I cleaned the light sensors at the bottom of the door and my wife was able to open the door with her remote again. My new car will open the door from the mirror, but the dang keypad for some reason won’t work. I replaced the battery, but no go. My next move is to reset the keypad to the door opener and if that doesn’t work, try to change the code. Thank you so much.
Thank you. You save me money and help to fix my problem. Both battery and key numbers needed to change. Very useful video.
I was smart enough to check the battery before coming to CZcams... but not smart enough to change the password to see if the numbers had worn out! Works like a charm now, thanks!
Great video! Turns out the buttons were worn out on the pad. Chose 4 new numbers and it worked perfectly! Thanks!
I always thought these were hardwired. Thank you for saving me 150 and a home visit from a repair man!
Over ten years in the house and I never realized I didn't need to enter the key code to close the garage from the outside. Thank you and Happy Holidays!
Hahaha, don’t feel bad it took me years as well. Enjoy the Holidays as well 👍
Amazing solution to change the code, especially on older garage door openers. Thanks.
Thank you so much for this! I had no idea these were so simple. You just saved me worry and money.
This saved me $180, thank you!
Just had to change keycode to new numbers after years of use.
Thank you so much for this video. Well explained. You made my day. I never thought it worked on battery.
Really appreciate your thoughtful and straight forward descriptions and troubleshooting instructions! :-)

Thank you so much! It was the wiring in the pad and I was able to get a new one on Amazon. Thanks!

Excellent instructions, I have resolved the issue with my keypad.
Thanks!! I only needed to change the battery and voila! The backlights were all working but this simple act of changing the battery fixed the problem. I believe it was the original battery since installation.
Thank you! Problem resolved. (I didn't know there was a battery in the key pad) Easy fix!!

Very helpfull video. The instructions that came with my universal remote were completely different then the steps in this video and did not pair the remote to my Genie 2028 opener. After watching this video I was able to pair my remote in about 30 seconds.
Good video. Although I don't use the pad too often, the battery never lasts very long. I always test the new battery before replacing the older one, so I'm sure the new battery is good. Appreciate your advice. Bob
It works! You made my day. Thank you sir!
Wow, why doesn't my husband just fix this is something I keep harping on. Now I know it's an easy fix that I could do! Thank you! Going to work on it today. 😊
Great job so helpful and easy to follow
Great troubleshooting and clear advice, thanks!
Great info. I will try this as mu key pad has been acting up. Thank you for your
very informative video.
haha I always thought mine was hardwired. Thanks for the concise video. My battery finally died after over 10 years. Just be careful, the battery was rusted to the connector and I almost broke the battery clip taking the battery out.
Thank you for the great info! Keep them coming!
This was very helpful, thanks!
Thanks so much for the hint about the worn out key!
Thank You , love your channel , keep up the good works
knew about the battery...but after 14 years of hitting the same 4 digits...made the change (with different digits) and viola! Done - thanks K
Took his advice, it worked. Thanks.
Saved my butt today! Thank you.
Thank you so much! I had no idea there was a battery inside this keypad. I replaced the battery and hurray It all works again.

Yeah, some times it is well worth just getting a new one to save time.
Bless you, Scott. Thank you!
I had changed the battery but it still wasn't working -- I didn't realize the number sensors might wear out. I tried a new set and *bingo* it worked. Thank you!
@@beebee3644he means change the security code to use a different set of numbers on the existing keypad as the original set may have worn out.
I appreciate the video, helped me out! Thank you
Thanks for your video. I had to reprogram and it works now👏👍
Thanks for a very well done video!
Thank. Great clear and quick info.
I googled to search buying a replacement keypad because we had to press combination keys hard and it didn't work most of the time. Then searched for a how to video. Yours popped up, and was so clear and explanatory. What a great tip to change to unused numbers! It took 5 minutes to reset and bingo...works like new. Thank you! Liked and subscribed😊
