    Thanks so much for the shoutout, Jeff! Honestly I feel like the economy is so unpredictable and all we can do is adapt and do the best we can with the current situation! 🧡

    our sales are really down, even at craft shows. I think right now, people has to decide rather to buy candles and melts of eat and put gas in the car.

    Sales are down because quarantine has for the most part ended.
    But as for candle sales that should be fine for sales. Spending has surprisingly been up by over 1%

    On the other hand, it's been a very hot summer. In Georgia, we have had several heat waves, even now in August, we are under scorching heat and idea to light a candle is not in everyone's mind. Fingers crossed when cooler temps roll in, consumers will be looking for candles.

    The good thing with jars, lids, etc is that they don't expire, sales down to high heat throughout the summer, Fall and Winter will pick up, and Sept-Oct people start holiday shopping too. I wouldn't cut your supplies down too much.

    • @StandleyHandcrafted
      @StandleyHandcrafted  Před 2 lety

      That’s the difficult part for sure, what do you keep on hand and what do you go easy ok if it’s a slow season.
      Luckily lids and wicks are pretty cheap and like you said, you’ll definitely go through them.

    Interesting and informative video. At the moment I see this as a chance to re-examine and re-evaluate. Cut out what is not needed and look more at what people want versus what I truly want to make. I've basically changed everything, going away from pure soy and using fewer wicks/smaller vessels.
    Then again, I am nowhere near where you or Memory Box are, so it can both be easier and more difficult for smaller people. There is no real cushion if something flops.
    And I see YT unsubbed me, sigh, oh well.

    Good advice. Best be cautious this season, looks like there is a recession on the way, at least here in the UK, with energy bills (gas & electricity) at 4k per year, fuel at £1.80 a litre, people are worried about paying their bills so I would expect sales to be down. Apart from that life's great 😂

      Be careful when dealing with essential oils in candles. There are some used in fragrance oils, but certain essential oils become very toxic when burned.
      I was curious about his when I first started and stick with fragrance oils that are rated safe for candles and the websites should have safety data sheets their oils provided.

    • @davidhunternyc1
      @davidhunternyc1 Před 2 lety

      @@thedoubleboiler6971 Interesting that certain essentials oils are toxic when burned. Makes sense. But fragrance oils are synthetic and I'm sure the chemicals used to make them are not healthy either. I bet synthetic oils cause cancer too. The best French candles in the world, like Cire Trudon and Maitre Gantier, apparently use essential oils. No American candle company can touch the best from the French. It's their oils. What's their magic?

    Know your market demographics. We are experiencing a K type economy. So higher end markets will be least affected .. middle to lower class economies areas will be more affected.
