I love this insight. I changed my name a few years ago. I felt the old name was juvenile and pigeonholed me into one particular type of product. I did a lot of emails and posts and reminders before and after. I don’t think it caused to much of an issue but like you said, I was so small enough to not worry about too much.
That's the big one that people need to remember. You're small enough for a while that it wont effect you much at all. :)

Branding is so important. I think many people really don’t realize the importance. Also people really like the story behind why you got that name.
I changed my business name 6 times! It happens... I just didn't like the name after a while. My clients didn't stop looking for me. Especially the ones that are loyal to you & your company. The Wooden Wick changed their name to Makesy. So it happens.
I like that DIY Candle Supply. You should Trademark that asap. Im sure you know but for those who don’t domain registration doesn’t offer the level of protection of a trademark.

I just changed my business name from …Candle Co to Handcrafted for just that reason. After a major surgery I have been focused on jewelry making much more than candle making and needed a more inclusive biz name.

I didn't have a name to change. But when I was thinking about it, I decided I would choose a name that reflected, at the time something that had to do with the state I was living in.
I was pondering about changing my company name too.🤔

I think they can divert your traffic from old name to new one directly, so you,ll not lose any of your customers in anyway
