    This is great. I do sew my favourite colours but love this idea of pulling out all the ones in a similar tone. I hang my closet by colour so that would help inspire tonal dressing. Thanks

    Rebecca I love your pink outfit @10:07. Thanks to you, I have found my tried and true pants pattern. The first video I ever watched of yours was a year ago Titled Sewing a Capsule Wardrobe for Fall and Winter, Look #6 Butterick 4659 @ 16:09. I absolutely love the comfort and fit of my pants. Butterick 4659 is cool because it has shirt patterns pieces along with the pants. The other day I made a button down long sleeve shirt using the pattern and I love it. I like being able to sew multiple items with one pattern package.

      I’m so thrilled to hear that! I love that Butterick pattern! I showed the apron skirt in the beginning of this video. I’ve made the top too. I feel like the vintage patterns just fit me better. Thanks so much!

      @@SewPomona Cool! Thanks for pointing out the Apron Skirt at 3:30. When I rewatched this video, I knew those pockets right away lol. Glad to see that you are still using your B4659 pattern. I am starting to think that vintage patterns are best for me as well.

    Lovely video. Everything looks so harmonious and easy to coordinate. Love the way it looks on the rack 😊
    I tens to organize my closet by garment type, but maybe once it actually gets warm here (we still have a month till last frost) I might group them by color just to shake things up a bit and perhaps come up with new ideas. I do often wear a solid color column, but need a bit of contrast as well.
    (I found the color strokes at the bottom corners of the screen rather distracting)

      Thanks so much! Sorting by color works great. My phone tripod was accidentally visible in most of the filming sequence and I didn’t want to crop- which is why the color splashes were added.

    I love the idea of monochrommatic dressing. Purchasing fabric in matching shades is a challenge. Any advice?

    • @SewPomona
      @SewPomona  Před 4 měsíci

      I often suggest buying enough fabric to make two different pieces. But remember, your pieces don’t need to match exactly. For example if I was using purple as my base I’d look for one lavender, one violet and one plum shade so I have light, mid and dark tones.
      When I’m shopping online I tend to search by color to find my fabrics and compare tones. Plus a lot of shops will list coordinating colors on their website.
