    Excellent video. Sorry, incorrect about coming to rest at the other side (great opportunity for a follow up video). You've assumed that the DURATION of acceleration at high and low gravitational effect are mirror images either side of the centre/core, they aren't. The first half of the distance starts with low velocity and ends at vmax. This means that the duration spent at high gravitation is far longer than the duration spent nearer micro gravitation. Loads of acceleration. Then, however the second half of the distance starts with vmax at low gravitation, far less TIME spent there than before, then the vessel is still at quite high velocity when entering the high gravitational effect nearer the surface, and spends less TIME in that effect. If anyone has trouble understanding this please familiarise yourself with the gravitational slingshot. Decades ago engineers used it to make the Voyager probes the fastest machines ever made. So actually you'd fly out of the other side and probably (not sure) break away from the atmosphere, then slowly get attracted back, but at extremely high altitude. It would actually repeat, think of it as a very UNSTABLE orbit (obviously ignoring air, the moon or other bodies).

When we positioned ourselves on the top of the building to kill Zakhayev with 50cal sniper, our commander told us "in this distance (~800m) also consider Coriolis effect!" ***** It does have an effect, that's why real snipers take it into consideration for targets at extreme distances. Maybe you shouldn't comment on things when you have no idea what's going on.

    • @klauskleber9250
      @klauskleber9250 Před 10 lety +3

      JLConawayII I'm pretty sure it does not. The earth has approximately 40,000 km perimeter so 20,000 km a half. In 800 m distance the coriolis effect would be so small, it's pretty much a million times more likely that the weapon you are using has a greater effect on how the bullet will travel. However, important are the wind velocity, temperature, humidity and characteristics of the bullet itself. Not to mention that the coriolis effect changes from the equator to the poles, which would make it nearly impossible to include it. And after all, Call of Duty should never be used to show how something is done professional.

    • @JLConawayII
      @JLConawayII Před 10 lety +8

      Klaus Kleber I don't know anything about Call of Duty, I can only tell you how it works in the real world. At the ranges you're talking about, around 800-1000 yards, the Coriolis effect is important. Like you said it does depend on your latitude and the direction in which you're firing (north-south vs. east-west), but when the round is travelling toward the target for over a second it can potentially cause a change of a few inches. To a sniper that's a life or death difference. It's one of those things that on the surface looks like it shouldn't matter, but then you do the math and you actually test it at a range and see that indeed it does make a significant difference.

    1. Earthquakes deeper than 150 km will be impossible due to high pressures and everything in liquid state.

    3. Polar ice caps simply wont exist.

    7. It will be near impossible for earth to ring like a bell due to magma absorbing almost all ringing effect.
    8. Continents will be slowly sinking ships as they are melted away from below by thousands of degree celsius ocean of magma underneath.
    9. Continents will be very unstable and will be slowly broken into pieces as earth rotates leaving behind only small continents or islands to slowly sink.
    10. Ocean of magma will be a subject to tidal pressures.
    11. Moon will pull on the ocean of magma resulting in frequent breaking of earths crust.
    12. Earthquakes on surface will be extreme and too frequent.
    13. Volcanoes will be always active ejecting poisonous gases into the atmosphere. Inactive volcanoes will be impossible.
    14. Surface temperatures will be hundreds of degree celsius like Venus.

    If the planet was hollow than 2 things would be correct.
    1: Once you go inside there would be a massively increased gravitational field, since gravitons come from the core of the planet.
    2: Our planet would be 50% or 75% smaller than it actually is.
    Why?
    Because a pingpong ball is thrown a far shorter distance than a rubber ball, thus is less durable.
    This planet is VERY durable. This proves it is solid.

    Hypothetically, if a person at the north pole dug a hole from the north pole to the south pole, while another person waited for him at the south pole to break through, once he gets to the very bottom with only 1' of dirt left between him and the person the other side at the south pole, what happens when he breaks through? Does he fall through, or the other person fall in?

    • @narfwhals7843
      @narfwhals7843 Před 5 měsíci

      Once they dig past the center of earth they have to start digging up. So all the way from the center to the south pole they already have to work against gravity. Nothing in particular changes when they break through.

    For all you people saying it should be "What if the Earth *was* hollow"; you're wrong. "What if the Earth *were* hollow" makes more sense as "were" is used in hypotheitcal situations. "What if the earth *was* hollow" means that in the past the earth might have been hollow, but "were" is just in general.

      +TheDylarianGamer Languages are funny things like that: they aren't absolute sets of rules written in stone which you can use to claim '*this* is English and *this* isn't'. Languages are tools of communication, and just like other tools, they change and evolve for higher efficiency and convenience. And the only time you could realistically claim that a usage is wrong, is when that usage impairs communication. In the case of the subjunctive were, since there are usually other clear indications of the intended mood, there is no harm in dropping it in favor of the simpler indicative form.

    Fun fact; the gravitational attraction at any point in the earth's interior is equal to the gravitational attraction of the portion of the earth starting from the center with a radius equal to the distance ypu are from it. This is a peculiar property of sperical symmetry.
    Also, the coriolis effect does nothing.. it is not a real effect, it is the result of measuring acceleration from rotating frames of reference. If you fall down a hole deep enough, youd hit a side because the lateral component of your speed is greater than that of the earth at that depth. The coriollis effect would be a guy in the surface PERCIEVING you as moving to a side.

    How would there be an aurora with no magnetic field to trap the charged particles?

    • @MarkScott1
      @MarkScott1 Před 9 lety +1

      Sean Cauffiel But there would be no atmosphere to strike as the oceans would have evaporated and all life would have ceased to exist. Earth would be a baron planet.

    • @speed150mph
      @speed150mph Před 9 lety

      Mark Scott it would still have an atmosphere in there scenario, just no magnetic field. its a stretch, but the key word in their scenario was "if earth was hollow with no iron core, but had the same mass." since gravity is the attraction of two masses, and is based on the mass of the objects, then earth would have the same gravitational pull since we are told the mass is the same. since the atmosphere is cause by gravity pulling the air down towards the surface, the atmosphere would still exist, but without the magnetic poles of the iron.
      that being said it would be impossible for earth to have the same mass if that huge amount of iron didn't exist so in that case you would be right. the atmosphere would cease to exsist and earth would fly off into space to become another asteroid.

    • @RCAvhstape
      @RCAvhstape Před 9 lety +2

      speed150mph
      Actually, no magnetic field means no protection from solar wind, which would strip away much of the atmosphere and make what's left very thin, like Mars. But, of course, a hollow earth is a hypothetical, so you can have a hypothetical atmosphere to go with it, of course.
