Which version of Stardew Valley should you get?

- There's 3 main ports of Stardew Valley, and they all differ a bit. What are those differences, and which one should you get? I can't go over every single detail in a short, but hopefully this gives you a good idea of what to expect!
Here's the lofi Stardew Valley music I use a lot:

Chair skip is possible on console. Use the right joystick to move the cursor and place the chair.
Damn, I assumed on that one because everyone was saying it wasn’t possible on my exploits video lol
The only console i havent gotten that to work on is Switch.
I was literally about to say this, I use chair skip alot
@@Toryn_Strifeit works on mine just fine
@@Toryn_Strifeit works on switch! it's harder because the cursor is so sensitive, but it works!
It is also worth saying you can save/exit in the middle of the day on mobile
You can't on anything else??
@@clauday6467if you’re on pc there’s a save anywhere mod so it’s a pretty negligible difference
Mobile getting the terraria treatment
@@mr.player2265 could you explain?
good because battery issues
On Switch you can use the left joystick as a mouse and A to click, so I’m pretty sure chair skips are possible
As a switch user i can confirm
Ditto, you just have to turn off the controller setting so it functions like pc
It's the right stick, but correct
On my switch it doesn't work. Everytime I move the left stick it just moves my character.
@@feddy1103 it's the right stick
One issue with mobile is that you can't do multi-player
Not a problem if you don't have any friends
@@impkiller5932 lol, true
Following on that, mobile also doesn't allow single players to purchase cabins for their farms since there's no MP.
@@MM-jf1me indeed
Also, some of the menus are broken, it’s not optimized for touch controls, and combat is impossible because you can auto attack and move at the same time. It’s by far the jankiest version (and a sloppy port altogether.)
That doesn’t mean I’m not having fun though lol
You don't necessarily have to auto attack on mobile you can choose your controls and there are a few different options
I always try to turn it off because it's so damn frustrating. It prevents you from consuming food and also changes to the pther weapon you're not using.
It feels weird, yea. I use joystick and button controls.
Yeah i prefer the joystick and buttons (weapons) the most
I love auto attack but I hate when it screws you. I got stuck between a temp dead skeleton and rocks and I couldn't even move so ofc they killed me after three reanimations and I lost a f**kton. Cause you can't eat, you can't place bombs near them and since they're not perma dead if you get stuck like I did it attacks endlessly while collapsed instead of letting you run away. 😡
@@norabarnes9235You can't pause/turn it off while attacking? I don't have the mobile version, but I was considering when I heard abou5 the auto attack feature. I hate the mines.
mobile has been a night saver for my graveyard shift and we are finally caught up with 1.5! (quality bobbers still not functional tho >.>)
Did they really release 1.5 on mobile finally?? I've been playing exclusively on switch because my phone hadn't caught up yet
@@kierstenburtz8442 yep all caught up
We can't use mods though
Mobile also has a pretty broken glitch that Noone seems to realize. If you click anywhere on the screen you can use the left button to perform action at that place, so infinite reach.
@@aceluckgame is great for far away fish ponds and never have to do g pumpkin maze. In Skull Cave full inventory+ treasure room = item duplication ♥
Fun fact: if you propose to any of the marriage candidates on George's birthday, or the day after, it will set your wedding day to be the day after the spirits eve festival. Every character has a unique dialog if you speak to them during the festival. For example, Penny usually says she's entranced by the cauldron and just can't seem to look away. But if you propose and talk to her the night before your wedding, at the spirits eve festival she'll say she is entranced by the cauldron but... "oh. You look beautiful tonight." Or something like that. Sam, who usually complains about a dead end will say he was wondering when you'd show up and sebastian will comment about wanting one of the skeletons on the farm. I haven't married any of the other characters yet, so I don't know what they'll say. But it's kinda fun ❤ little Easter egg I guess you'd call it. And I don't know if anyone's covered it in a video before?! But yeah :D
i love that you're proposing to them on a specific day to see their dialogue 😄
I’d love to but I’m proposing on my girlfriends birthday.
Omg that's so a cute idea. I want to marry with Sebastian so I will think about do that. The only thing I'm worried about is that I want to unlock Emily's sewing machine before I propose so I can wear white. And I'm afraid of missing the date because I don't want to wait another year to marry him (I know I can propose at any other time but I would really like to do something special with our wedding and the marriage proposal as it is a somewhat unique time in the game).
@soffacouch hmmm if you can get to the desert, mummies will drop cloth at a decent rate. But that can be tough prior to spirits eve. I know because I just can't bring myself to divorce any of the characters, so in order to see their unique dialogue, I've made a farm tailored to each character that I thought they'd like (i.e. I married Sam on a beach farm and Penny on a regular farm and Abigail on the wilderness farm ❤️). You can get wool from the travelling cart by random chance. Or! If you have lots of daffodils and Quarts, you can give them to Emily and there is a chance that she will send you cloth in the mail. I know it's a small chance but I've actually had decent luck with that! I've rarely ever gotten cloth from the recycling machine but it can happen. I know what you mean though, I love making the white wedding outfit for marriage day! ❤️

Year three on mobile until I got it on Steam, here's my input:
1. You can turn autoattacking off, though I still recommend it.
2. There's no multiplayer so....
3. Your tools auto switch (like, let's say you have your axe selected, it will automatically switch to your pickaxe, assuming you have it. I think it switches back to your previous after the swing is done.) I dearly miss this feature.... 4. You can also navigate easier because you can just press the ground and it will take you there, but you can also hold down and it will move, if you prefer that.
5. Zooming is better because you can have whatever level of zoom you want, it's not limited to multiples of 25.
6. You can make the hot bare bigger and smaller.
7. The slots at the casino in the desert is visually broken, but works just fine.
8. Slingshot is weird idk. Because of mobile I have vowed to not even use it on PC.
9. Do you like Journey of the Prairie King? Don't play it on mobile. The controls are inverted and it has bad controls even beside that.
Bonus: Kindles can share games so like, my sister bought Stardew Valley on her Kindle and so I have it for free!
Relaxing on switch though. Just the fact of laying in bed.
I do the same, just keep it in handheld and play on my bed
I haven't played on xbox for awhile, but I thought the chair glitch worked as long as you used the cursor
It does
It does on all consoles as long as you use the right stick.
Yep it works
I've played Xbox, mobile, and PC. I gotta say mobile was probably my favorite because I had it on my tablet and I could play it offline, and it saves in the middle of the day without having to figure out how to mod. I currently play on PC though because that tablet crapped out
The first time I played Stardew Valley, it was on mobile. At the Apple Store, they had their newest iPhones on display, and they had various apps on them that you could use to test out the phone. I chose Stardew Valley. I didn’t get the phone; I just like going into the Apple Store and using their devices (and the apps installed on them) for free. (It’s like a playground in there!) However, I _did_ buy Stardew Valley on Steam when I got home.
This is unrelated to Stardew, but during a separate visit to the Apple Store, I went to CZcams on one of the computers, put on Never Gonna Give You Up, turned the volume up to maximum, and promptly left the store. In that moment, I knew how it felt to walk away from an explosion without looking back.
I started playing stardew on my pc, but then decided to get it on my switch as well because I’m a more casual gamer and it’s nice to be able to be anywhere I like while playing!
The chair glitch works on console and the item ID glitch used to work on console too but they patched it from working. I literally bought it on pc like 30 mins ago and I’m gonna do some mods I’m super hyped :)
Are you interested playing coop with me
Im going to ask if I can get it on PC as well- I really want to see modded Stardew valley for myself.
@@_Sakura.Tree_ yeah all glitches are working on pc since concerned ape are intented to let it work
I'm playing Stardew Valley on a steam deck and it's an amazing experience imo, I'm enjoying every minute in the game
Yeah same, I was even able to add mods including bigger story mods like Expanded :)
Stardew Valley has a great Linux native version. I am running it on my laptop.
On mobile, you can change the controls. I like the joycon & buttons control system.
Me too! I think i lucked out by getting the mobile version first since you get the full game cheaper and gain a lot of knowledge about the game
Super late here but!! I use the same :DD I use the joystick and buttons that still keep on tap-to-move. I like using it to travel bigger distances sometimes and to water the crops.
I bought a switch recently and have been enjoying it on there
I would say that general rule of thumb for any game is looking at what console it was released on originally. That console will probably end up being what it runs best on, and also what console will get updates sooner. But games that are widely spread to different consoles on release might require some trying out to see what you like the most. Also on most of pc games you can mod 😈😈😈. It’s all what you enjoy the most and how you like to play in the end though ❤
I use chair skips on Xbox and switch 🙂 love your videos though 💕
me too. I use switch
I started on PC, but got the Mobile as well since it was so cheap. And was surprised by how well it worked on a phone.
And playing a day or two on the commute or something else is pretty perfect, so I end up playing more on mobile then PC
Same. I have Stardew valley on PC, Switch, and Mobile, and Mobile version is my favorite.
@@beatricethepuppydog3320I’m thinking about buying it on switch just to buy it again. It’s worth a lot more than the £10 I paid for it. Probably will get it on mobile as well just for the novelty
I'm a mobile player, and the auto-attack thing is AWFUL!!! Can't tell you how many times I kept trying to run away from monsters while trying to eat but it keeps switching back to my weapon before I could eat :')
The only plus size is that you can easily find rock crabs with it because your weapon will try to hit the random rock/iridium ore
YESS the skull caverns on mobile is actually hell the auto-attack is just so inconsistent😭
Yeahhhhh it's so annoying, also constantly attacking armoured bugs (so you get stuck taking damage in their path instead of running past) and deconstructed mummies (making it wayyyy harder to put down a bomb and actually defeat them) 😑 but if you turn it off it just sucks in different ways 🙃 I adore the game though, this is just my one gripe with mobile!
you can change the control and play with the joystick with no auto attack if you prefer I wonder which is best for combat
Use joystick and buttons
I first played Stardew on mobile and it's pretty fun. But I have been playing on PC since I got mine fixed.
I still do occasionally play on mobile if I'm away.
I love playing on my iPad. PC is great but sometimes I want to play while chilling on the sofa
@@toomuchiridium i have stardew valley on xbox. Can i use that account on mobile? Or do i need to make a new one?
@@Slurpee99 from what I’ve read, it’s not possible to transfer save files from xbox - it’s only possible to do that between pc and mobile. So if you buy the game on mobile you will have to make a new save. Hope that helps! :)
@@toomuchiridium thank you so much. I’m playing on pc with xbox game pass. Was planning to buy for mobile.
@@Slurpee99 oh no I wrote you a comment with links to websites which would help you to transfer your save but it got deleted. Probably to reduce the amount of spam
I have it on everything and play either what my friends are playing on, or switch if im at home or gone on work trips
I play both on android and on pc
Android for vanilla runs and pc for modded runs, they're both great 😂
I'd like to remind that pc saves are mobole compatible, thus you can play on PC for some time, then transfer your save to mobile and then back to PC at your leisure
You can use that chair skip. You can move your cursor in game on console with the right joystick.
Which is also how you open the in-game chat
So the item glitch(using brackets for getting items) doesn't work because the console(s) don't recognize symbols like brackets as symbols so it simply just doesn't work. The chair only half works, you can get by the log and get into the forest, but it won't let you get back out, forcing you to passout and teleport back home
I have it on the switch and I still have no idea how to use freaking tools!
I'm a mobile player and one of the concerns I have is there's no easy way of placing crops in kegs you have to do it one by one same problem as cultivating and placing seeds I hope they'll make an update with this
I bought it on pc a few years ago and never got into it but recently got it on iPad and have been ADDICTED. It’s dangerously addictive such a fun game. I think I like iPad because I can play on the couch or in bed
on mobile in the settings menu you can choose different joystick/button options. i tend to cycle through a few depending on what i’m doing. i find the auto attack feature isn’t the greatest so i like to use just the joystick and buttons when in the mines
Honestly, as someone who doesn’t have a PC that can run anything and no console at all, mobile has been a life saver for me, plus I got it for 89 pence in a sale
Only 1 or 2 months between updates? That's a lot better then waiting for updates with The Binding of Isaac
I love SDV on mobile, but some major downsides for me:
- Can't display chicken statue
- Can't direct fishing casts
- Can't drop items
Good points are the ability to play wherever, whenever and being able to just stop playing and have my game progress save at that point.
Yes, you can mod on mobile, you can change game files and install mods. There are Brazilian tutorials that do that.
In mobile you can activate an option on settings that allows you to swing sword in any direction you want instead of the direction you’re walking to
Which option?
@@Persona3Yukari i dont remember since i played 4 months ago
You can use chair glitch
I play on pc with a ps5 controller. Moving right stick allows to summon a "mouse" for placing furniture or clicking stuff in menu so I assume same would be on consoles which would allow chair skipping.
Tesla of course! It is mobile, but has the longest battery life with its 100 KWh battery. It has built-in air-conditioning. It's fast in both computing power and literal speed, has comfortable seats built-in. It supports both touch and controller input and also has the best built-in speakers I've ever heard! /s
Chairskipping is able on switch but i'm not sure about the other.
Honestly the amount of content that is in SDV it’s incredible how cheap it is. I got into the game a couple of years ago because I was sick and needed something to do while recovering. I had heard so much about this game I assumed it was like at least 30 but maybe more like 50 dollars. I was shocked I paid only 14 dollars for such a long entertaining game that I am still being entertained by 2 years later
I paid the $5 for mobile to find out if I wanted it for PC but it's really fun.
Like all mobile games, most of your time is spent correcting mistakes you made because your thumbs can only be so precise haha.
on mobile when i close out the app rq to go to another and then come back sometimes it will reload it but say “resume where you left off?” and i say yes, any foragables reset. lets say i pick every berry in the south forest. i do the thing and they’re all back and i get double . try it
Im forever thankful i decided to log into steam after never doing so in the perfect day on my pc when it was on discount and i got it for like $4
Items I'd glitch and chair glitch was actually added to console by concerned ape a while ago to balance out the two platforms
Play station has a hand that you can move around to do things
You can chair skip on switch tho and I found a tree pause time saving glitch on it
Tree glitch: cut down a tree and pause as soon as it falls and it will continue while time is stopped
I loved Stardew Valley on Switch, so I had to get it on PC for mouse support. Watering plants with the controller was a pain 😅
On console you can chair skip, but clay farming and I believe animation cancelling also aren't accessible
I like playing on Nintendo switch as I love playing the game while traveling and not losing the option to connect to the tv
The easy combat in the mobile version was actually a big plus for me. It was my favorite version before I got a Steam Deck.
Keep in mind, you can only mod if you have android, IOS does not support modding
No the chair glitch works on console because I've done it on current patch.
Playing on switch fits the peaceful relaxing feel of stardew
Best thing about pc is having a second monitor to pull up wiki
Man I just think the switch is perfect for stardew and I love being able to take it with me anywhere. Hoping for 1.6 update soon 🥺 but I also own the game on ps4 and PC because I just love supporting the creator
Been playing this on Switch, it plays sound. I’m not into exploits, or modding, so suits me 👌🏻
Same! although the chair glitch does work here
i couldn't decide so i brought it for all
The chair skip is possible on console. I have a switch and I do it all the time. You have to use the right joystick to move the cursor.
I had switch and there were definitely a lot of story that I didn’t get to when I played in pc
U forgot my personal favorite. Pre-installed on Tesla vehicles
Works best if you have a horizontal screen though. I've made much progress on the Model 3. The pre-refresh Model S wasn't a good experience for me with its vertical screen.
I play on my phone and even though it's currently my only option, I love this game so much. My very 1st playthrough is almost 2 years old.
I started on pc, but I've been playing on switch like CRAZY
You can chair glitch on console if you use the right joystick
I also don’t think you can animation cancel on console
Mobile has an exclusive glitch where using the backup save feature you can get more berries per bush. Keep repeating that until you get a ludicrous number of berries per bush.
Mobile also have smapi , soo you can play with mods and also there is a multiplayer mod(my fav part about mobile is that the itens have auto equip, like u click on a rock and ir character automatic change for It)
As a console player, with the front of chair facing the way you would like exit, you can chair glitch
I have and love them all!!
I started playing Stardew Valley on Pc and console 3 years ago but man mobile is so handy. just a tad bit need of zoom each time
You can use chair skips but item I'd doesn't work
Stardew also runs on almost any laptop or pc. I can tell from experience. I played at 60fps with a 5th gen intel core processor with integrated graphics on a 8 year old laptop.
I want to use a pc but I love Harvey too much to restart him
Playing on my switch light is my favorite way to play. I need my phone for too many other things, so I don't tend to play video games on it. My switch lite feels really good in my hands and is very portable, and for some reason SDV drains the battery a lot slower than a lot of other games i play (like Animal Crossing kills my battery so fast it sucks.)
So while yeah i could play with a controller on PC, stardew is a game that really suits handheld gaming. I can pick it up for a few minutes at a time or for a few hours, and ive left it suspended in sleep mode for a really long time without the game closing itself like it would on my phone.
I do kinda like the auto tool switching of mobile though, i always thought that was really convenient.
You forget, you can make a save in the middle of the day on mobile, what is quite useful, because i doesn't need to restart the day 😊
And you can still use the name glitch on mobile. It doesn't work as well with the 1.5 update but it still works
If you open the chat menu on consoles by clicking the right stick down, you gain access to a lot more things.
Stardew runs fantastically on Steam Deck, which is the best-of-both-worlds sweet spot between a PC and a console.
I have stardew in almost every single system other than xbox, and I gotta say that the switch is probably my favorite system since it’s very portable so I can game anywhere (the phone is nice too but I like the controllers)
Beings new meaning to "playing on a potato"
Secret fourth option: collect it on all consoles like it’s a pokemon
Also for mobile journey of the prairie king just doesnt work if you enter/exit more that one door that day
They need to make the minigames better for mobile in general
Cool video hope you make more
There’s an option to have mouse and keyboard like controls in the menus for the console version and the chair skip is possible with the right stick
You can do the chair thing
Actually you can use the chair skip, at least on a Nintendo switch. I play on switch and I’ve used this glitch many times in the past. Using the left joystick you can place any item where you want. I don’t know if this works for other consoles though.
Right stick is the mouse basically so the chair skip works
You can chair skip on console, but as far as I'm aware you can't animation cancel for chopping trees
I play SDV on mobile and it deadass took 3 years for the 1.5 ver to be finally released when it first came out for PC 😂. The newer version is available early in this year (Feb 2023). I had to stop playing the game for a long while lol.
Chair is possible on console I even used it to get the mayors shorts back from marnie soooo yeah dw it does work
I really like playing on mobile because you can zoom out more than you can on the pc version
Ginger island didn’t come to mobile for like a year or so
They should add the and the ability to hold click on an item in your inventory to keep grabbing more, auto-route and automatic tool switch from the mobile version to the others
There may be more on pc but SDV is the game I play when sat in bed
I can only play on my phone (I only have a crappy laptop) so I’m so grateful that you didn’t hate on the mobile version. I will say though, it was really annoying how long it took to update to 1.5 after pc had had it for years lol
OMG IVE MADE SO MANY WORLDS TRYING TO GET THE NAME GLITCHHH
ID hacks aren’t possible but the chair hack is
The only thing that's been bothering me on mobile is movement. I'm so used to having an "invisible joystick" on one side that having to use my whole screen to move doesn't lead me anywhere.
What do you mean? I like the mobile's invisible joystick option. What do you mean by having a whole screen to move doesn't lead anywhere?
Plenty of people have said already that the chair glitch works on console but I’ll add! If mouse control didn’t exist on console you wouldn’t be able to hover over status effects to see their information and time left! So it makes sense it was included despite not being used for much else, it works well if you’re trying to collect something slightly out of reach though! (Just not berry bushes 😞)
I got switch first while it was on sale. Hoping to some day get it on PC
