@@melodine_you can get hay from scything long grass, but only if you have a silo.
That generally nets enough hay to feed all your animals through winter, though only if you have enough silos to hold enough hay for the whole winter
It is so worth it to plant a coffee bean - best if you get lucky and get it for free from a dust sprite, but even buying it from the Traveling Cart pays for itself very quickly.
For upgrading the watering can without falling behind: check the weather forecast, and turn in the watering can the day before rain. That way you have day 1: water your crops, then head to Clint's, day 2: rain, day 3: pick up upgraded watering can and water crops. Zero days lost!
Lucky? At the start of the game I’ve got one the whole time…

The thing with the desert is if you find 3 omni geodes every time, you can buy a desert totem. After the initial 500 it's free every time after
bro you probably won't even need 500 in your entire playtime and by the time you get 500 you'll probably have an island obelisk
Absolute biggest mistake was choosing the mushroom cave every day on our play through it’s been frustrating me. I wish I could change it but oh well
There’s an endless no. of arguments for both caves but I think the mushroom is better long term since fruit trees will make the fruit bat cave redundant eventually.
The mushroom cave is more profitable than the fruit bat cave tho, at least it provides mushrooms every day
Actually currently, the mushroom cave spawning mushrooms every day is a bug and will be fixed in 1.6 to spawn every other day as it was intended.
I once chose the fruit cave and then struggled with finding mushrooms :/

I go to festivals multiple times because I am still not at full friendship with everyone and it brings together some of the ones that live farther out that I don't see much.
Well with 1.6 now Mushroom Cave is better (free dehydrator)

42. Quarry is basically a free giant shed, but yeah, quarry *mine* is only useful once. (Same as copper pan, and slingshot with a controller.)
They are useful to me even at end game, easy coal farming. I
Quarry spawn ore, sometimes iridium ore they are useful in every season, even at end game im still visiting the quarry to remove the trees.
My biggest mistake was dying in the mine on a bad luck day, lost 10 items including all my coal and had to reset the day.

I almost never go to the mines on bad luck days

Bro foraging is EXTREMELY profitable year one. You don't have to pay for the seeds and the crafting recipes make 10 packs of seeds. I just build up forage farms until the end of the season, craft what I have into seeds and sell that for a huge early boost of money
I do this all the time, every season I just focus on wild seeds and the seeds you make from forage. A full stack of forage seeds makes almost 90k gold, they grow fast and you only need 100 of each forage for a full stack. I hate Pierre so I only use wild and forage seeds to spite him and save money.

Then I run to leahs house, give her a salad, then to emily's to give her a gem or a burger, then off to the docks to check my crab pots. Then I run to the mines if its a lucky day. then bed. What have I been doing with my life.
If you are going to upgrade the watering can make sure you water crops and tomorrow will rain
Or upgrade on the 27th of the month, you don't need to water on the 28th unless you have a multi season crop like corn or wheat.
The data says big crops move like how clay moves every day problem is finding the first space with out the tool

Currently on my first play through, and trust I made a ton of mistakes like selling Community Center Items, giving away valuable items by trying to talk to people lol… I thought about starting over because I’m almost in year 2 literally like 8 days away. I just decided to play through it and learn from my mistakes
With games like this I do a trail run the first time to see how things work. Then the second playthrough is where it gets really fun. You hit the ground running and know a lot more what you're doing. Then third was my perfection play through.
The first mistake is to pick a beach farm, you can't put sprinkles on the ground 😢

Remember that when your making the bew file youncan click on option which will make that you will have a gurantee that te red cabbage will be aviable within the first year at the traveling merchant. One of the days.
Otherwise you will need to wait for year two and it might not be at the traveling merchants.

I found out, that if your inventory is full (with honey in it) you can walk around and pick your fairy rose honey without worring you will pick up the flower, coz the game says "you have no space in your inventory". Very helpful tip

When Italk with npcs I hold tool or empty hand. You can not give them your tools nor weapons.

Is socialization really worth it considering how much you would waste time by doing so? I just started playing couple of hours ago, and i absolutely have zero interest to talk anyone(i know they will give some gifts etc), but im not gonna simp anyone so that they would like me better. That's not my thing.
Kinda reminds me of Harvest Moon Friends of Mineral town, i skipped every single birthday and town event because couldn't care less about people problems and just wanted to farm and mine some minerals.
It's kinda integral to some of the game and most of the dishes you need to 100% the game are only unlocked via friendships
Except salmon berries always collect the berries. Because it gives you tons of energy for the Mining in the winter.
I only care about birthdays, after i get my hands on the statue of endless fortune.

a lot of these tips assume that I have an avg of 50000 Gold in year 1 as a beginner/how do you even get the spa
None of them assume that lol. The spa should be opened already if you're past summer 1 day 2(3 maybe) go north of robins up to the stairwell that used to be blocked by a rock
And you should have an average of at least several grand after your first spring

I think it's a mistake to open geodes if you don't have to. Once you're done donating things (artifacts and minerals) to the museum, hang onto all your geodes for the nerve-wracking Qi's Crop quest. (spoilers?) It's an optional Ginger Island quest. Geodes are the best source of Qi Beans. I also try to leave a good few trees standing in places I've planted them because they're the next best source of beans. Do NOT cut down coconut trees for beans. I did. Oops. No, just shake them every day. As for the quest, only take it the first or second week of the season. The one time I did it I took it on the last two weeks of the season, I only had a few geodes, a few rows of extra trees, it took over my whole game and I barely made it. I've never been so stressed in the game before! But with a huge stockpile of geodes, half the battle is won.
The nice thing about festivals is running around talking to everyone when you're trying to get full hearts with everyone (so you can eventually completely ignore everyone, lol), but once you have max friendship points and have won all the little games, there's only one 'festival' worth wasting time on and that's the Night Market (I don't really count it as a festival though since it doesn't mess with time). You should buy all your starter seeds for the next year there if you haven't already planned ahead, then you don't have to spend important game hours running to the store on the first day of every season to get seeds. I played for several (game) years before I realized you could do that, one season's seeds sold at the Night Market each night.
On the last day of fall empty out your silo (a cherry bomb will destroy grass in the automatic feeder of the deluxe coop or barn so you can take silo feed out through the hopper). Then cut all the remaining grass on your farm for the hay which automatically goes into the silo, and fill up the silo with what hay it still needs. You should have extra hay to put in a chest to use over the winter so your animals don't starve. (I only have one silo. You might need to still buy hay if you have more than one and they aren't already full.)
Plant grass in all the open plantable areas of your farm on the last day of winter. Then on the first day of spring you have a lot (40x) more grass than you planted. (Don't shut down your game till spring happens though, evidently all the grass will die) It isn't that dramatic of growth for any other season change.

when you unlock the Walnut Room in ginger island, you can buy the sprinkler pressure nozzle, 20 qi gems for 4 nozzles. You can get the Qi Gems by doing the Qi quests or exchanging golden walnuts as long as you have them :)
Since we're talking about water, the 5x5 range on the watering can is the result of an enchantment.

or you can just use mushroom log…. its easy to craft and obtain. you get 12 hardwood everyday or 17 depends on profession.

On only using low quality stuff for kegs/aging, things that can be aged at gold star like goat cheese can be put in and then get to iridium pretty quickly.
And as for foraging, get two hearts with Caroline to get the tea tree recepie. the saplings alone sell for 500g apiece, and if you keep picking up all the foragables you should have a good backstock of supply to feed into that, of course it costs some fiber and wood to make it so don't overdo it.
It's so sad watching this and all the mistakes he makes and bad advice given.
