  • As software matures it becomes a liability. It becomes harder to understand, harder to change, and has the potential to damage the brand reputation due to its fragility. When the software is a liability, it’s a problem for the whole enterprise. It’s the bottleneck that stifles all product innovation. It’s a major competitive disadvantage.
What if the solution to this problem is not about creating beautiful code, but instead can be found in embracing collaborative approaches to modeling the business domain? This is something the Domain-Driven Design (DDD) community has learned over the past decade: bringing together software, product, UX, support, and people from all backgrounds to collaboratively model the business domain results in better software that remains more supple and easy to evolve.
In this talk, I will share insights from the DDD community about the wide-reaching benefits of collaborative modeling and how you can apply them. And, together, we’ll look at opportunities to make collaborative domain modeling part of something much bigger and more inclusive to create truly sustainable software development driven by your business domain.
