It's always a joy to see a (former) student, Vincent, and his (former) professor Olivier playing the organ together. They must be so proud of each other!
And currently both of them titular organists of Notre Dame de Paris.
It was the 65th Birthday of Hans Peter Reiners, Organist at St. Joseph, Bonn Beuel till end of 2011. The concept of the organ was made by him (building a french romantic organ was quite unusual at the beginning of the 80's), and for more than 30 years he organized the Internationale Orgelkonzerte there. The concert on that day was the birthday gift of a lot of internationally renowned organsists to him.

Egreggia signora marylou Martone le tengo a dir che per primo la denuncio a seduta stante ( in questo momento sto facendo la denuncia hai carabinieri del borgo ) per diffamazione, perchè lei ha offeso gravemente 1 persona che manco sa cosa fà nella propria vità od cosa attualmente sta adempiendo la sua ragione di vità che è molto nobile dettata dall' universo o coronando la propria aspirazione di nascita o cosidetta vocazione, ovviamente per realizzar il tutto son seguito da grandissimi maestri di 1 nota magna scuola f#####a siti in un luogo d' istruzione di insigne livello d' importanza in cui là ho modo di farmi impartire lezioni per poi 1 giorno diventar chi sono verramente non 1 pinocchio ma 1 personaggio molto più grande di lei di sicuro ed quando lei avrà occasione di vedermi fra un' po di anni non penserà che quel grande sia il Signor studente Anomino, le tengo a precisar che la persona che a preso 08 . 00 in condizione pietose di salute terificanti arrivando XI° su 100 sono io ma non lei quindi stia attenta a come parla del sottoscritto, firmato N. A. , per consiglio amichevole è meglio che lei si metta a scriver scusa a tutti quelli che vedranno il suo > commentaccio < rivolto ad' un grande che manco conosce il tutto per l' onestà inteletuale ed sopratutto smetta imediatamente a dar degli aggetivi che a persone che manco conosce ed non sà quello che fanno nella propria vità, grazie ed ha mai più ed non si permetta mai più di sparar sentenza gratuite con offesa senza che qualcuno glie lo chieda senza saper chi si a davanti, per II° si metta lei con la sola base di autoditata senza saper niente di armonia e teoria ad' eseguir dei capolavori sinfonici in stile romantico francese su un baraccone da 10 registri con 1 inestente senza saper niente di che registrazione usar con 1 durata di 50 minuti sotto 40° gradi di temperatura in 1 edificio minuscolo sudivisi in VI° tempi ( un grande poetessa mi disse che un' improvvisazione che avevo eseguito l' anno scorso pareva di aver il grande organista odierno Latry davanti agli occhi, 1 dei sommi grandi maestri mi disserò che son fin troppo complicate per i brani che le stiamo dando da studiarli ) con questo chiudo ed no si permetta più di farsi sentir Egreggia Signora, spero di esser stato chiaro.

en ce qui concerne les "erreurs" de la main gauche, n'avez-vous pas vu que c'est de l'improvisation?... juste pour préciser, et quel improvisation! si vous voulez un exemple de doigté peu conventionnel, allez voir Cameron Carpenter.. vous allez être servi!

Sehr schön das alles. Aber was mir bei Oliver Latry überhaupt nicht gefällt, ist seine Spielweise. Wie ein teilnahmsloser Roboter. Einfach eine seelenlose Erfüllung einer ihm gestellten Aufgabe. Technisch gesehen, sicher einer der besten Organisten der Welt, aber emotional, Fehlanzeige. Man hat das Gefühl, er möchte sein Spiel so schnell wie möglich hinter sich bringen. Schade, aber offensichtlich so ein Menschentyp und trotz seiner hervorragenden Spieltechnik, für einen Musiker ein nogo. Johann Sebastian Bach wird durch ihn zur Schlaftablette. Ich habe ihn einmal bei einer Vorführung erlebt. Sehr von sich eingenommen, überheblich und keine andere Meinung geltend lassen. Da gibt es ganz andere Organisten. Technisch vielleicht nicht ganz so perfekt, aber mit viel Gefühl und Emotionen. Zudem haben die drei Titulare von Notre Dame in Paris, wieder an der schönen Orgel Veränderungen vorgenommen. Diese Orgel wird zu Tode modifiziert und klingt mit jedem Umbau schlechter. Schade, um dieses ursprünglich so wunderbare Instrument.

Actually, after rehearing this improvisation, it is worse then crape. I have heard hundreds of organists improvise, and it is all the same, with one exception. That organist improvised from a given theme, a perfectly built prelude and 5 voice fugue, that Bach would have approved of. He then went on to improvisor as this bird did, and laughed about it.
***** Well, then it is a question of taste. Some prefer music "built" like fugues (to take your example) and this is a perfectly valuable opinion ! For example, i like the following video : watch?v=tOQvxK813J0. What do you say about this one ? This is different; a fugue very well done with full control of a theme. Here Latry and his friends "play" around a theme as well and I can say for sure that it is far from being a thing to laugh about. When I don't like something I say "I don't like it" and not "This is ugly" as if I own the truth ...
Your link does not work. I did hear some attempts at fugal improv. on YT, and all were pathetic. It helps if you give me the title of the video.

I think if you sat down at an organ you couldn't even make a improvisation sound like something. Improvising like this looks easy, just press some keys and just do it quick. There is alot of theory behind these improvisations. At the end you can hear him play happy birthday with some added ornaments to finish it off. And the audience at the end clearly disagrees with your comment
