Interesting discussion about the idea of sin. Personally, before I came to Jesus I totally knew that I was bad. I actually started wondering why I was bad and why I would do things that I actually didn't desire to do anymorel. When I discovered the reality that the bible discussed the sinful nature it was truly a revelation... almost like a relief to finally see and understand the reason for doing these things. This was a truly profound moment. Simply asking some people (once in an amicable discussion about faith or having a friendship) if they have ever wondered why we all do things that we regret, can be a good way into a discussion about sin without immediately using the term. I do believe 'at some point' the concept of sin has to be discussed as its our initial human condition.
Regarding the last issue of all being evangelists. Paul says, Not all are! However, Jesus stated clearly that if we follow Him that He would make us fishers of men Matthew 4:19. Maybe some Christians read this hits though it was spoken only to his initial disciples or to the twelve only. I honestly don't know but It's absolutely grieving to me and surely to Christ to perceive this passage as such. Surely the Church needs to be convinced by the Holy Spirit that this roll is for all. If someone feels they can't speak surely they can do a kindness or ask God to show them how to use the opportunities provided by the good works that He prepared for us to do to function in the body as fishers of souls. It's possible that Christian perceptions of evangelism are far too rigid to see that evangelism is not always about firstly talking.

But what about the "Great Commission" to all Christians?

@@LastDaysIntercessors Was that said to all Christians? I mean, really?? It has always been taken that way, but, seriously, were we really correct to lay that on all Christians?
Jesus prayed the following to the Father just before He went to the cross… mentioning those men who with Him, and all of us who would believe on Him through their word:
“Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.
“I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.
“Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.
“O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me.
“I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.” (John 17:17-26)
The gift of loving God in the way He loves Jesus… that is for all of us.
Apostleship and evangelism, those are specific gifts for specifically chosen and equipped individuals.
The so called ‘great commission’ was given to the eleven disciples, as recorded by Matthew (28:16), as he wrote:
Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them.
He went on to write further: (v17-19)
And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore…
…because He has been given all authority…
“…and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. […including the bit about
“And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Interesting. We definitely are getting closer to fulfilling what Jesus prayed for in John 17 that when believers love one another and are one in unity, people will believe that God sent his son. Regardless of secondary beliefs.
