I grew up ranching for a living working for my father and we had one of those small Case crawlers (ours was the 850). The lower lever that you were struggling with was the high and low range. The 3 levers between your legs is the forward and reverse lever on the far left and the other two sticks control the tracks. The track levers are close together so you can operate the tracks with one hand. Both levers aft of neutral is low for both tracks and both levers forward of neutral is high. This machine is designed to turn without brakes and you turn by putting one track in low and one in high. But you can still turn with the brakes but the track has to be in neutral. No other manufacturer had a turning system like the Case and the way it's setup you can turn a heavy load in front of the crawler because you never take power away from the tracks when pushing. You guys may already know this and I'm preaching to the quire and yes if Hank needs a crawler for his farm the Case is a great choice. A little TLC on this little dozer and it would last you many years for farm type use. Just my two cents gentlemen and I love watching you guys on both of your channels.

This guy is 100 percent right ! I got a ton of hours on an 850d not a lot of guys could run it because of the high low track sticks and even less could even find the start button hidden underneath them to even get it started . It was tough at first but a great system once you got used to it !!! You really needed one more arm to be perfect on one because the up down left right was a different joystick than the angle !!

Sometimes, taking a break to clear your head and reflect can be more productive than pushing through frustration. Persistence is key. Thank you, Wiley, for another excellent video.

Case dozers steers with the two levers you don't steer with the brakes like other dozers do. The left stick makes the tractor steer to the left if the left track is in low speed and the right track is in high speed. To turn on a dime leave the left track in neutral and the right track in either high or low. It takes a while to get used to it. Robin in WV

The lever he thought was to release the brakes is the transmission high/low lever, leave it in low and forget about it, they were never any use in high. The brakes on these never lasted anyway. Replace them if you want to but you don't need to use them if you learn to run it like the prior comments.

You half to press them both down at the same. Then pull forward.,or backwards depending on how that handle down on the left side of the seat is set up. That is your release lever for those clutch pedals. First thing I recommend y'all doing is soak everything down good in either kriol.,or PB- blaster really good to help free those peddles up with first. Then go from there guy's. Good 🤞 luck on getting those to release.

You can steer it with the levers by putting one in high( forward position) and the other one back in low. There is one pin on each side of the track chains that has a center hole drilled in it, that is the kingpin and the one you drive out to break the tracks down. I have the same machine my dad bought new and the steering brake pedals do not lock there must be a problem with the reservoirs or linkage under the floor plate.

My son and I are sitting here watching this video and I am talking to the video like you all can hear me. Thats a check valve under that grease fitting. We just put the track back on our old 450 case 2 days ago. You got on the right track (no pun intended) with the wood block and the angle blade you just had to pull that check valve out and collapse it. Y'all got it now. My son jumped the same side off on ours back in the woods a ways and we drug it out with a tractor pulling on the side of the blade with the track off and walked the track on the other side of the dozer till we got it back up behind our shop. A couple days later he drug the track up and we put it on 2 days ago. However.....there has always got to be a however...., we rolled our track completely over in the process and ours is a 68 year model and the plates on the track are bolted on offset to one side of the rails , our offset to one side a couple inches or so, not centered like your plates are, by rolling it over before putting it on when we greased it up today is when we realized that the offset was now to the inside and the plates now rub on the roll cage bar that comes down behind the middle of the machine behind the tracks. ........... WE GET TO DO IT ALL OVER. ......Thank goodness for that big ol John Deere backhoe setting right in front of it that will pick that track completely up and dangle it from a chain that makes it much easier to handle.

Also on undercarriage that wont take grease / siezed up you can adapt a porta power hydraulic press down to the right size and use that to really put some pressure to it and sometimes get lucky and get it moving again . The key is on tracked equipment is every service put a couole pumps of grease in the undercarriage that keeps it moving and it wont sieze up on ya

First thing you do is take that bolt off then take the grease fitting out put a block in between the end of The Idler and the track against the blade shove it in and it will go back further still I can see that it's too far out once it's out then you got to have a chain hooked on the top hook it on each side of the track lift and pull out and then drive the truck backwards and back up with it and it'll walk right on

I've always seen the bottom slack area put on first then the machine run in forward walks the track on the sprocket then it's run in reverse and pulled onto the idler from the front.

Take the pins out that hold the plates loose. And pull it over on to. The rear sprocket.😅

I used to run an old Case 850 track loader back in the day. Used it to load gravel, dirt, and tear down old houses houses. No roll over protection on it. Ran like a sewing machine, looked like it went through a war.

I hope you take this the way I intended it but Hanks brother in law doesn’t look like he’s doing very well I hope he’s seeing a Dr and taking care of himself.

Hey Brother, saw you w/hank on that Detroit, you have to "bar over" the crank 2 complete turns to verify the "full throttle" rack condition.
