Grew up in a construction family with heavy equipment. Started working with my dad when I was 10 and when he had to use a cable he made sure me and my brothers knew the danger if it broke. He once took a piece of cable about 6 foot long and laid down a watermelon and swung it so hard it cut it in two. He then look at us and said, "That was child's play compared to how fast that cable will come at you if it snaps. Just think of that watermelon has your head" LOL We stayed clear.
A little hint. With this many people watching and helping. Hand-held air horns are a must. They can and WILL save a life. Someone sees anything wrong, one blast on the horn and everybody stops.
Love the guy standing under the raised backhoe bucket. We call a bucket being in the air for no reason an "Asshole Magnet", and they are. It's amazing how, out of all the room on a job site, some people are just attracted to the spot under a bucket or suspended load.
As I’m watching the beginning of this pull I’m looking at all those bodies that are standing in probably some of the worse places they could be standing in, should anything (like a cable or that block) come apart with all that pressure that’s being put on all those things!
I cant be the only one thinking, SLIPPED OFF A SHELF!!! That thing was out in the middle. Wtf! Lol Hey unfortunately for him it made for some good content. DGS got it done. Thanks for sharing
All those Guys standing near the steel cable while pulling ? And the nomination for the Darwin Award 2023 goes to : "The grey hoddie guy with the Smartphone filming" !!
A lot of Chiefs, an awful lot of Chiefs... i liked it when one of the Chiefs was yelling at the Excavator operator to shut her off, only to see the Excavator operator get it up and out of the water. Experts are generally only as clever as they assume they are!

good video /a lot of bosses doing what they do best.waveing there hands around /supprised and very lucky that someone was not cut in half by ropes breaking in half ./ all is well got it out and running CHEERS😃
Excellent piece of recovery, hope the engine on the excavator isn't damaged. I concur with what others say about keeping people out of the hazard zone if a cable/chain breakes.
Now could you just imagine what it would be like with one of them new Volvo electric excavators, there would be no hope in hell of it starting unlike diesel power
Nice job helping out a friend in need Brandon. He will be embarrassed about this accident for the rest of his life. That's why he kept at it when Dad was telling him to shut it down. Your buddy just wanted it to be over. Poor guy.
I could not believe how deep it was in the water! you really know how to properly rig the equipment to be able to remove it from the water w/o damaging or tipping over. great job getter it done
OMG, standing WAAAAY too close to those cables and chains. Hate to see anyone lose a leg or worse. Seen A LOT of BAD whoopsies that way in my 49 years. Be safe out there.
Holy crap he was determined to get her out. It sounds like when the piston dead headed it may have bent a rod, with all the smoke and clatter from the engine this little jaunt may hurt his behind.
Coming soon to an auction near you. 1 recently washed 892 excavator 😀. Good job guys. A few years ago a company was trying to clear a floating bog from behind a dam and swamped a similar sized excavator. That took a dozer and 3 heavy wreckers to pull it out
So many people trying to die if that cable snaps on the first pull have been driving the tow tracker when this has happened the rollbar saved me with some quick reactions dangerous business well done getting her out
It would have been much cheaper and easier to dewater this small lake if you were allowed to pump this water over the outlying area. Placing a containment around the machine would have collected all the oils.
2:13 The recommended track tension for a Caterpillar D8H bulldozer is typically between 1.25 to 2 inches of sag on the bottom side of the track when measured at the midpoint between the front idler and the rear idler. Under-tensioning can result in excessive slippage, reduced traction, and increased fuel consumption.

Great recovery!! The 8 didn’t even have to pull hard! Y’all did an awesome job!! I also enjoyed seeing how smooth dad is operating!! Thank you for sharing!!
It is a very bad idea for this guy to stand next to a cable under tension, if that cable snap and get him, he will be dead and not the excavator. It is a good practice to throw a heavy coat or a wet blanket over the cable.
A couple of guys were standing in a really bad place. They need to stay clear in case a chain, cable or something else breaks. God bless
Thought the same thing. The guy at 0:15:30 was rushing.
@@W1LLB0 yep, an idiot.
I couldn't help but worry for them to! This underscores the need for a mandatory team safety meeting of what's going to be done and what not to do
Even after the cable snapped there was no apparent sense of the real danger as to how bad that could have been. Fantastic video otherwise!
I couldn’t agree more. They can be deadly when they snap.
The guy running toward the tight cable, waving his arms....Darwin Award candidate.
Totally. You should have been there in a lazy boy. Everyone reporting for duty directly to you oh great one. GTFO.
🤪😁🤪That’s funny.
Mistakes were made but they got it out. Suffice it to say my dad wouldn't have been happy if we did some of the things they did.
To many supervisors and the common sense isn’t so common😂
loose his head or worse, his walnuts

❤🎉😢😮😮😅
They must agree on that honking the horn means stop and not floor it.
Headset radios best use for recovery.

Because hydraulics never fail. Almost as dumb as standing next to a cable with that much tension on it. Because cables never break either.
this looked like the Three STOOGES at work = YIKES !
That D8 is going to need some new grousers about 30 years ago.

One does break at 8.44 by the sounds of it …
Cable snaps with those folks just standing around so close...Could be a bad day..I know you gents know this...Enjoyed watching.

great job, but seriously the guy standing right next to the cable under crazy tension..lol
I always keep my track shoes over 50%. It amazes me how many machines I see running slicks.

It is damaged for sure, they shouldn't start the engine.
Now could you just imagine what it would be like with one of them new Volvo electric excavators, there would be no hope in hell of it starting unlike diesel power
The stuck excavator doesn't sound healthy. Hard to tell with all the other equipment running but I believe it is knocking. Great job getting it out.
I'm surprised they ran it that long with what was likely a crank case full of pond water.
Its a Detroit, it will be just fine.
Those diesels are truly amazing ... submerged but soldiering on with minimal fixes.
thats a fine mess he got himself in good to have friends with big toys
A nice rescue! I hope he doesn't have to go through an arm and a leg to repair that guppy
getting it done right! hope that it does not need a over haul.
It's great to see all these people & machines come together to try & help someone out
well at least it is fresh waster !
good job... once you started helping the tracks by pushing with the bucket, it moved on out... nice😁

It concerned me to see people standing in the arc of the pull cable swing.
They got back when I really pulled hard nice thing about cable is it don't really fly like chain will its goes straight and falls quick

nice video,bravo a toute l 'équipe..
Great job everyone he was lucky it didn’t hurt anything I was surprised how far in it had slid
can not believe it came that well, worried the guy closest to the pull line might get hurt as cable has no feeling for man
Gotta LOVE Old mechanical Equipment!! Still runs great lol 👍👍
When D,G,S post a video you knows it’s going to be good. Put that D8 to work.
Awesome video! Thank you.
Great job great video great recovery thanks Brandon
This whole thing was amazing to watch.
They're yelling at that operator to shut the machine down and he's like "Nope. It's coming out right now" and it sure did.
Nice job. Thanks for the videos.
wish i could give more than one thumb up that video is worth a bunch of them. the cat sounds good.
I appreciate that! Yeah I love it's sound!
This looks a little sketchy. Why was he even close to the pond 😩.....??
Yeah, nothing weird about your excavator being right in the middle of the lake....keep moving folks nothing to see here...
Guy standing under the excavator boom!😅😅😅
Example of someone who should not OPERATE A BIG WHEEL
WOW Brandon that was simply amazing to see 👍
Awesome job guys
Thank you!
Hell yeah! Great job!
Nothing like cat fishing in the pond
So many people trying to die if that cable snaps on the first pull have been driving the tow tracker when this has happened the rollbar saved me with some quick reactions dangerous business well done getting her out
Exactly what I was thinking. I took a mine site safety course back in the 70s. Nobody should be standing near the pull cable.
O' holly CRAP .Ya got it out. great job. RUIN THE ENGINE WITH ALL THAT WATER IN IT. BET YOR GLAD IT IS NOT YOURS. Great video Thanks.
Awesome job and teamwork!!
Hope they managed to shut the engine down before it went under. Great recovery!

@My Cancer Journey Get bent, you are just looking for money.
Way past worn out actually this is a project machine so that's the next thing for it
Literally unbelievable- I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I love this channel
That ground gave way? Shocker... I feel for the guy... but damn.
Contaminated water would like a word.. .. ..
You can’t kill those 892s I’ve got two of them myself great machines
WOW can't believe you got that out and it started impressive nice work fella's
all those guys walking around those tight cables.... not good even that far away with the length of the cables they would still get cut in half.
I thought it was for sure toast. Good thing the machine was able to start.
When they made things basic and to last.
Great work because it takes real skill to work three together! My hat is off to you all!
Good job on the recovery. That Deere saline like it has a bit of a knock in the engine. I hope they didn’t hurt anything too badly
Seems pretty well destroyed
It’s total loss ever since new after all it’s a junk Deere ,,,can never make a silk purse out sows ear ,,,!
that thing weeighs half as much as an M1A1? holy crap!
I. The future when everything is totally electric…. This would be totaled!

that motors rappin like 50-Cent,

I hope the engine on the excavator was not trashed!
get that guy in the black coat taking pics the hell out of there. if things snap he will be dead before he knows what hit him.

I know the pecking order, can be confusing. But pull 3 ft, talk about it 30, min. pull 3 talk 30. They will eventually get it out.
Did I see a Gleaner C in the yard?? Been there, done that. Awesome video!!
That's a L2 Gleaner I have 3 L2's and a M3 if you look you will find videos on them I have a L2 on tracks....thank you!
I was septic electronic and engine don't like water but when I saw the engine and hydraulic run is good
cudos to the person who attach the chain underwater in the mud.
Having the crane their is worthless. It has no counter balance. God bless
Maybe the banjo bolt was the problem from the start.
Too many drivers and not enough operators.
Great job. Please let us know what repairs you did had to do. Thanks and keep them coming..
That's one heck of a sand trap! Golfers take note! :o)
Crane operator should have raised the boom and let out more cable there was way too much Deflection on the cable and cam damage the boom
Great job
Thank you
Glad you guys got the excavator out of the water, that was cool 😎
