Thanks for making this video. I would exercise caution in turning off your traction control early on in your tracking driving days. I have a G80 M3 and appreciate how much work the traction control does to cover up my mistakes.
thank you! lol trust me i was definitely scared to do it. first did mdm mode then full traction off. i never pushed it too hard and was trying to get a feel for breaking traction, but never pushed it hard enough to do even do that. so much more for me to learn!
Bro this was a fantastic watch, great video! I’m a little paranoid to go to the track but I know it’s something I have to do with this car. No other way to fully experience it. Also I’m definitely going to try that lav mic behind the license plate setup for the sound clip section of my downpipe video 👍

Also fyi, I filmed this video months ago haha, the exhaust video is more recent. In that video, i connected the lav mic to a better recorder than the gopro (a zoom recorder) and got better sound with less clipping. let me know if you want more info
@@f82regpaqyeah absolutely on my to do list. Took my kid to skip barber racing school last summer for the 3 day course and really regretted not taking the class with him. Got to hang in the classroom though and at various flag stations at Lime Rock which was awesome. Also, will def take you up on the audio info! I have a tascam recorder (similar to the zoom ones) but I haven’t played with it enough yet to dial in a good exhaust sound from outside. The one time I tried the gain was too high plus bad mic placement and the audio was unusable. Haven’t tried from the trunk yet.
@@jgo.m3 Maybe I'll make a video on the set up I used. Gain control is the most important thing with our loud cars. The GoPro doesn't have a low enough gain control than the Zoom recorder, which is when I got better audio with no clipping. But even on the zoom, i had to have it set to the lowest gain possible
@@f82regpaq makes sense.. I'm positive I didn't have mine nearly low enough and didn't dig around in other settings (yet). But yeah a video on that would probably be pretty cool.. I know I'd watch it 👍

You are so lucky the F series has the oil filter right there in the middle. It’s hidden behind the engine on my G80.

yeah i used hagerty. you can buy 1 day and you set the value of your car with mods. there are better priced options if you go many times a year though
