Thank you for this! My hubby’s Medtronic pump is going out of warranty so he is deciding on his next pump! This is extremely helpful
Thank you for your very informative and helpful videos on the tandem T slim I will be getting my T slim X2 delivered within a week or so and I am so excited I can't wait to start using it.
Great video Danica, ive just been given funding in the 🇬🇧 for a pump and ive chosen the Tandem tslim x2.
Your a great inspiration to all type 1's keep up the good work. Thank you Jonathan. 😁
Thank you so much. I have been considering getting a pump for a while now but now its necessary and this has helped me make a decision.
I've had my T:slim x2 for about 4 years now and I absolutely love it. I previously used an Omnipod. T:slim makes it so much easier to manage your diabetes. I also love the new updated software that they just recently put out. The close loop helps me when I'm busy at work to manage my glucose.
I agree with you, 100%! I also use it with the Dexcom, so I take full advantage of the closed loop system & going from the med Tronic 670 G system to the Tandem system has been a HUGE advantage for me. I also love the fact that it’s chargeable & so much lighter because you don’t have to carry the battery inside the pump. Congrats, I think we both made the right decision.
I’ve had my paradigm Medtronic pump for 8 years.
Never had been able to afford a new pump.
The sticky part that kept the buttons on started wearing off and I had to use a rubber band to keep it on the buttons.
FINALLY going to be able to afford a T-slim!!!Excited for a touch screen (no buttons falling off), charge ability, (don’t have to buy batteries), and maybe one day I’ll be able to make use of the CGM compatibility to avoid night time and lows in general!
I hope you get to use the CGM with your T slim, the closed loop system will change your life DRAMATICALLY! Good luck, I hope it works out well for you. ❤😊
Thanks for the video. I'll be getting my Dexcom next week. The purpose was to keep me from going too low at night. I am sure that it will help me stay healthy and lead to a better year! Thanks again and good luck.
Thanks for the review! The tslim just got released in Australia (finally we’ve only had 2 choices of pumps for so long ) this has been my dream pump to get for so long but have to wait 2 years for my warranty to be up. I’ve seen on Facebook groups that you can cut slits top and bottom of the power button in the case, they say it easier to turn on like that,
I have the t:slim x2 & a Dexcom G5 (soon to upgrade to G6) and love the combo.
You're so cute ! What a clear, well spoken, personable, energetic, informative presentation. Your personality is great for video presentations. Great job !
Thank you for reviewing! My warranty runs out for my Medtronic pump in February as well and I was looking into the TSlim x2.
I was on a Medtronic since 2000. I am NOT sorry to see it go. I could never use the CGM with it, because it was so unreliable IF you could ever get it inserted in the first place!!!! It hurt bad.
Ive been on the X2 for about 4 months now and I’ve agreed with you on 99% of all the issues you are having. Especially the alarms. Take to Tandem and get them to do an upgrade. You have my support
I love that it plugs in because while showering it be charging or while in the car charge it while driving/riding.
Well done good review, detailed and informative. And upbeat, a bonus!
Great review! I just switched from Animas to this pump and I learned a few things I didn’t know. I don’t like the waste of insulin either when you have to prime it again. I also wish it was one tube with no connection but that’s what I was used to.
I have the t-flex and I've had it for 3 years...I love it
I have the Medtronic Revel insulin pump, and near the end of this year. I am going for a new pump. I'm considering the T-Slim 2x. What's the differences?
So happy to stumble upon this information. I tried the medtronic and found the CGM that went with it was unreliable. I love my dexcom and I'm thrilled I will be able to use the tslim with the G5 Dexcom but I don't need to download an invasive app to my phone. Looking forward to my Tslim training next week! btw I hated the clip on the Animas because the metal attaching the clip holder to the clip was always breaking on me.
On amazon you can order clips that can he attached directly to pump. No case needed which reduces overall size. Much smaller and compact. I really like
Do you have a link for me?
yes do you have that link?
@@theach84 you can find it by searching for „Smartphone belt clip“
Hi Danica, I'm about to choose between Tslim and the Mylife Ypsopump. Thanks for a very helpful video, appreciate it
Hi thanks for your review, my son is about to start this pump in 2 weeks.
My daughter has only used this pump. She loved the design and ease of entering numbers. She will be starting the Dexcom G6 soon and it talks to the pump directly. We also always drain insulin out of the old cartridge before putting in the new one.
Deb Wilborn how do you drain the insulin?
Thanks for the review. I’ve had an Animas which is due for upgrade within a month and have been very unsure. As you know, changing pumps can be stressful as we are so dependent on them. Definitely feel better about the Tandem now 😀
I've recently changed from my loving Animas pump to the Medtronic 670 and I hate it with a passion! It's so annoying to constantly be comparing it to the Animas due to all the downsides of it... and all I can think is, "and this is supposed to be more advanced?". ugh. I am now hearing about the T:slimX2 and hoping to find out more... and if I'm able to return the 670 as I'm still within the 3 month period of starting it.
They also have a "Quick Bolus" feature, where you can select a certain number of units (in half unit increments) without having to enter BG or carbs. I've used it on occasion if I feel like my blood sugar is rapidly rising and just want a couple units to cut off the increase. Also, I've only had one occlusion. So far, I've enjoyed having it, but it's the only pump I've used, so had nothing to compare it to. The main think I dislike is how hard I have to work to pop the pump out of the case, but that's more related to the fact that my left thumb is partially paralyzed due to severing some nerves when cutting vegetables (what? the thumb got in the way!) and so it's hard to apply force with that hand. You kind-of need to use both to get it out.
Great video. I had no idea about the temperature warning alarm, that is amazing. Tslim X2 has just been launched in the UK ( well slowly 😂) very excited about that. I have manged to check it out in person recently and it is so so so small. I was blown away. can't wait for your basalIQ video 😆
I l-o-v-e my tslim. I don't recall having any occlusion alarms over the past 5 years.I really love the Basal IQ and am looking forward to the Control IQ next summer!
I have a brand new pump with basal IQ-T-slim that I can't use. I am treated like a second class citizen because of Medicare and I have to WAIT until I can get the G6 to be sent to me before I can use basal IQ. Go figure!!!
T slim rocks! Just got that new basal iq update haven't looked back
I've been on the tslim for a month as well and I love it. It's been amazing. And I love the basal iq
Yeah the basal iq is amazing.
I have the tslim and love it! Was a medtronic user before and definitely a game changer! I have found with occlusion alarms they happen more when you don’t draw out the air before filling the insulin
Looking at tandem insulin pumps. Right now have an animas pump. Which would you recommend the new Medtronic or the slim. I am a extremely active triathlete and hockey player. How does it stand up to adjustments or reduction on balls, or just being banged around?
I would do the tslim personally the medtronic just seems cheaply made and is much bigger than the tslim
@@Grammer16 Tslim is made of metal (I dented mine and it still works just fine, also swam with it once)
I had the exact same complaint about the tubing looking so “medical” with that connector part. It’s one of several reasons I went with Omnipod. I wanted something that didn’t make feel like I was connected to an IV.
Thanks! Very informative and helpful video!
I’ve decided to get the t-slim. Thank you
I just started the Tandem t slim insulin pump today. So far, I'm liking it. Seems to not be bringing me down between 80 -110 glucose levels. I'll see tomorrow if I can improve my usage and informing the pump as needed. My goal is to get my A1C down to 6.5 and maintain it. I'm currently at 7.5. I'll keep working on it. I'm sure this Tandem insulin pump will help me reach my goals.
Thank you for this video. Im thinking to get one.
I have a 670G with Medtronic and I may switch to t slim soon. The 670 is a pain at times. The closed loop is a great idea but in practice I find it’s still flawed execution
Thank you my daughter needed this
I set up a basal profile that is 0.00. I labelled it "SUSPEND" and I activate that profile to try to avoid the Below Minimum Basal alarm when I need to be basal free for any length of time.
That is an awesome tip, thanks! Programming it in right now :)
Thank you for the tip ! I just set it up!
WetBlanket Noob that’s smart
It is wired seeing so many tyep 1s
Brilliant idea
Thank you. Great info. Hmmm that button will be bothersome to me to me when I evaluate the T-Slim. On Medtronic now but will look out for your IQ video. Thanks again.
I get my tslim next month and my g6! :) im so excited!
The button is hard to push because you can quick bolus with it so it is a safety feature so that you dont accidentally quick bolus with out intentionaly pushing and holding the button for 3 seconds
I absolutely love my tslim:X2! The Basal IQ feature is amazing! I used to get occlusion alarms a lot so I switched to a different set. I very rarely get an alarm now (once every couple of months maybe).
what set are you using??
It has been quite a while since I have posted with you.
I have the Animas Vibe and Tandem is just setting up a transition program for us that have pump warranties that are still a ways out, mine is 8-21. Tandem rep was very slow to respond to my request, they did not even acknowledge it had been placed. I left an angry message and 4 days later the wheels were turning. A new transition program is being implemented which will bring us in. I was pissed but sometimes this happens in the device world.
I like your review and found it useful. The Basal IQ model is what is on the way and an important feature of this pump is its upgradeability. Mine will be setup for the Dexcom 5 which is Medicare approved. Dexcom 6 is not but will be soon. At that time a simple firmware update adds that feature to the T-Slim. That is very smart! I am not sure if the update gives you a sensor choice or simply replaces the active channel. I am thinking you, the user, highlights which sensor model you are using. Speculation on my part.
When all is in place I go in for pump training, getting excited. I have been a type 1 for 52 years and in very good health. This is another new chapter.
Animas Vibe issue: please post if this has happened to you. My Vibe is chugging along seemingly working fine. I go to setup a bolus and the "PUMP NOT PRIMED" screen appears and basal delivery has suspended itself. No Alarms and nothing in memory shows the event ever happened. Medtronic is taking over Animas Customer Support and they had no answers and would not waranty a pump exchange. Bad Medtronic.
I'm almost certain the Basio IQ will require G6
I'm also getting this pump. I'm in Australia, so not looking forward to any heat alarms in our summer. That basal suspend alarm is also something I didn't know about, what a hassle.
Thanks so much for your awesome videos.
I had a horrible time pushing the button when the case was on. It would take so many times to get it to work. I found someone online who said to cut out the button on the case with an xacto knife so I did but I had a hard time getting into the hole to push it so I put a piece of double sided tape on the back of the button cover that I cut out and put it in the hole and it was perfect! I never have to push it more than once now. Highly recommend!
Once you get the basal iq update, you won’t have to set your basal to 0 because it will shut down the delivery if it notices you are dropping
I love your videos. You had mentioned the warranty on your other pump. The warranty on my 670g is up in February 2021 and im really wanting to get the new T:slim. Do you have any suggestions on how to get the T:slim pump sooner than February of next year?
I’ve decided to get a t-slim thank you
Glad to see this video. It does give good info but I am very frustrated with Tandem. They sent me new Tandem pump but Medicare won't ship the rest of the supplies I need for a couple weeks. So I will have the pump for 4 weeks waiting on supplies. Then I have to drive an hour to meet with a Trainer who insist I get the Dexcom with it , which I do not want.( no app made yet , Trainer seems to wany to wait till I get all the supplies ) I just want able to learn the pump before I launch into the Dexcom. There are several things I do not like 1) the hook bauble at the pump , 2) the waste of extra plastic inserters ( wasteful land fill ) I did not have with Medtronic, 3) seems more complicated getting the insulin I need , 4) the method it attaches to your body ( I made pouches that work great , I hate clips ) I am reading the book and watching videos to learn as much as I can about but I remain skeptical. I have had the Metronic for 15 yrs ( been thru 3 pumps ) and it is having problems operating with missed bolus and weird messages I don't understand when I refill the reservoir.
I'm in the process of getting a tslim: x2 pump with the dexcom g6. It's going to be a new challange for me since I have been using Medtronic pump for the last 12 to 16 years.
I was in your same shoes a month ago! I have always been on Medtronic (15 years) but the sensors never really worked and the beeping drives me crazy! The switch was SO EASY! I honestly just read the instruction manual and set up outside of the clinic. Charging has been the hardest part for me to get used to. I charge while I drink my coffee or when I have desk time at work. So far I think I have dropped my A1C by 1 or 2 points!
I am hoping to get one soon. My Medtronic 670 pump causes me lots of headache.
Great video! Thanks.
You said you don't know if the temperature sensor does anything about cold weather...
YES IT DOES!!! I've had several times since moving back to MN where I forgot to move my tSlim G4 pump from clipped to my pants pocket to my shirt pocket where the pump would be closer to my body and under my jacket before going outside in sub-freezing weather and although the pump will alarm but continue to function if the temperature alarm says the pump's getting too warm, if the temperature sensor detects that the pump is getting too cold, it will STOP the pump from functioning until you move the pump to a warmer area and the pump has warmed up enough that the temperature sensor no longer thinks the pump is getting too cold!!! I guess Tandem doesn't buy the logic that "Moving fluids won't freeze" and decides to make the pump STOP moving Insulin through the tubing instead of letting the pump continue to function until it detects an occlusion when the Insulin in the tubing starts to freeze.
Are you going to test the Medtronic pump, so you can try all of your options?
Thanks for the video. I agreed with all of your critiques both positive and negative. There are two other things that I don’t like about the Tandem. First, I would like to be able to dim the backlight at night like I can my phone so I don’t get blinded when I check it during the night or at the movies or other places that need to be dark. The second thing that really frustrates me is the amount of time and insulin it takes to get all of the air bubbles out of the tubing when priming the pump. I could be almost finished chasing bubbles and am making my last inspection of the tubing, when up pops another bubble. I noticed that bubbles also originate in the connection point between the two sets of tubing. I typically waste 20 units or more just clearing bubbles from the tubing. Also, please don’t go blank in the middle of an interaction such as priming. My hands are full so entering the code to unlock the screen is maddening! I guess I have 3 things that bother me. Oops.
Same things happens with the Medtronics pump. There is such a waste of insulin whenever you try to get all the bubbles out. I wish they would get together with BD or whoever, and have vials already filled with the correct amount of insulin.
Is the pigtail latex or rubber i have tried this pump andam severely allergic to latex rubber and i had reaction.. The company says no latex but my supplier says yes there is.
Can’t find your vid u mentioned about you talking about the cgm with this
Agree with the top button. Such a silly inconvenience that could be fixed so easily!
I find it mostly unresponsive. Unless I take it off my belt and push the button in the right spot, nothing happens. I realize that Tandem wants to prevent an accidental Bolus, but I think it’s too difficult to use.
Love your videos Danica. I'm going to be starting on a T:Slim Insulin Pump after training next month but I'm curious with the touch screen does it have a timeout automatic lock and/or is there a way to lock the screen after bolusing so that its safe to put it back into pocket etc?
Just turn off the screen (hit the silver side button) manually immediately.
Thanks for the pros and cons! I am about to switch (thinking of switching) from a medtronic pump and was looking for information. This was really helpful. I'm fearful of the recharge thing - I am really bad at recharging anything. Plus the connector on the tube does look intrusive - as the slim tube I have now (as did you) is virtually invisible. Now I fear it will stick out like a sore thumb :-( But I hope all the pros outweigh the cons! (I also looked at the omnipod and that will not work for me - as i took a "sample" out for a test drive). Anywho, Thanks again. -Mike
Recharging isn't a big deal, it's a normal cell phone micro plug, and they say it holds a charge 4 - 7 days. It's 15 min max (if no charge). Just make recharging part of your infusion-set-change routine.
Danica I want the tslim as my next pump. I was allergic to the Medtronic sensors and I have had Dexcom ever sense. My Medtronic pump is not doing it's job without the sensor and I am wondering if the tslim will shut off when you are low like the Medtronic pump is supposed to
Does anyone else find the clip on the T:slim 2 to be difficult to attach to the waistband of a pair of jeans? If so, do you have any suggestions?
Hi, I’m a new subscriber and curious to know which sets you used with Animas? Thanks!
I have two diabetics on tslim in my class. When that beep came on at 2:04 I was like woah. It’s interesting learning what my classmates do on a daily basis.
Did you find the bolus on this pump be delivered a lot slower than on your animas?
Is it not possible to turn off the alarms for a period of time? I need something that can shut up for a certain time.
I love my Tslim!!
How comfortable is it to sleep with your t:slim X2 insulin pump?
I am getting mine on Wednesday how does it work in conjunction with the dexcom g6
Where's your diabetic bracelet from?
I've had a Tandem X2 pump for about a year. It's a great pump for me. As a guy I just keep the pump in my front pants pocket, so I never use the case or the clip. The connection from the pump to the tubing stays out of sight in my pocket, so that's never been an issue for me. As far as charging goes, I got in the habit right away of charging while I'm in the shower. That's long enough for it to fully charge, even if it's been a couple of days since I've plugged it in. I like that it uses a normal MicroUSB cable, and I don't like it also. That's because when I get up and plug it in my eyesight isn't that great...
My canulas and cartridge fills are on two different schedules. I change my canula (infusion place on my body) every three to four days (typically four) and don't put new insulin in until my pump is empty. That usually is on a five day schedule. If I know I'm going to run out during my work day, I'll fill a cartridge in the morning and bring it with me (along with tubing) in my shirt pocket. It only takes 2 minutes to change a cartridge and prime the tubing.
I use the 24" tubing with the pump, so it normally takes 16 units to prime it. With canula changes, I just use 0.3 units. If I ever need to check to ensure that insulin really is going through the tubing, I just tell the pump I've got a new canula to see if drops come out the clip.
Getting used to the button is easy. The only annoyance I have with it is the blinking light. It's supposed to be a diagnostic thing, but if the pump is not under the covers at night I will notice it (mostly because one eye doesn't close all the way).
My favorite thing about the pump is the IOB (insulin on board). I've got it set to my rate (4 hours) so I know just how much insulin I've got left in my body. That way I can use the pump to control my bolus's a little better.
i used to use it with my Dexcom CGM, but since I've switched to X-Drip on my phone I' happier. Until Tandem comes out with the programming to adjust basal rates based on my Dexcom readings I think I will keep them separate. I'm looking forward to this pump adjusting my basal settings as a result of the CGM, but we aren't there yet...
This is a pump that I personally would strongly recommend. Tandem has always been great to work with.
What's is the maximum bolus, medtronics max bolus is 25 and I personally am somewhat insulin resistant and have a low carb to insulin ratio. How many CC's does the resivour hold?
Thank you my 8 yr old is due to change from animas pump
what glucose meter can you use with tslim?
I have an Animas Vibe and will be switching over to the T-Slim X-2 Basal IQ in a couple years. Tried for the pump but a issue with FDA approval meant I would have to pay full retail for it. NOT HAPPENING! Just added G6 to my management and love it. I will use Animas until it dies and then switch. Medtronic is trying to force the issue. I will NEVER use Medtronic again.
My Animus ping is waaaay over warranty and I'm in the process of switching now. Shopping around and looking at the pumps on the market today I already miss my Animus 😢
I have been using an insulin pump since 1997 - I am currently using a Medtronic pump, but strongly considering the Tandem t:slim X2 (with Dexcom CGM). I tried an Animas pump a few years ago for about a month and I hated the fact that I could HEAR insulin being delivered every few minutes. The sound was something I was very sensitive about - The Medtronic pumps are pretty quiet (except for priming). Does the Tandem pump make any noises when insulin is being delivered?
Looking to switch to the Tandem t:slim X2 / Dexcom G6 combination. Currently wearing a Medtronic Paradigm and using the Freestyle Libre. One thing I really like about the Freestyle Libre is that you can wear it on your arm. After years of wearing a pump, I have some scar tissue on the sides of my abdomen. Are there other non-abdomen sites you can wear the t:slim and G6 CGM?
Is the Insulin reservoir refillable multiple times? Do you show filling and setting up an infusion site on any videos? My son just got his Dexcom G6 and we are looking to switch to the tslim from medtronic. Seems like a no brainer really because of the dexcom compatibility.
Do these have a lot of monthly expense with insurance?
I've been on the tandem Tslim X2 for 12 years. You don't have to change the cartridge the same time you're changing your infusion set You can go five or six days with the cartridge and only two or three days with your infusion set. Just wanted to let you know you don't have to only fill the cartridge with 3 days worth of insulin they suggest not to go more than 5 days but I have gone a lot more than 5 days and been perfectly fine I just don't wear the infusion set that long I change that every two days.
What advice would you give to me , I'm being put on the pump?
I’m very excited for an insulin pump, i have an appointment with my endocrinologist like in two weeks I think my blood sugar’s control has been sooo much better than I was , so I started getting serious about my diabetes thing like after 10 years and then I opened my eyes again about my diabetes! I started carb counting because my A1C was tooo high it was like 10.2 so I started and then I tested my a1c again and it was 8.2 !! It’s a big jump for me !! And I’m having a test again in two weeks! I think it might be 6.8-7.0 also I’m in pens with freestyle libre2 ,I’m thinking of an insulin pump like t-slim or Medtronic , and of course I will talk to my endocrinologist about that !
You ever consider putting a charger in your car?
when I do that I put it at 0 cause i am going to shower, I just let it go and when the time runs out it will stop. LOL but sometimes it will do it right away or 5 mins later
How often do you have to charge the pump
Hi Danica! Great info, thanks! I’m pretty much sold on the t-slim after watching your vid. Been a diabetic for 58 years now and I was off the pump since August, but needed to go back bc my long lasting basal (Tresiba) caused a lot of problems. I watched Tandem’s video on how to insert the inset, but it showed someone doing it manually. Is there a gadget to put the infusion set into your body? Can you please make a video? Thanks!
Hey just out of curiosity I'm wondering what your problems with Tresiba were if you don't mind me asking. (I'm also on Tresiba)
I'm puzzled. Have you put hands on the infusion set? My model, the infusion sets come in a round gizmo that IS the inserter. 1) Pop it open, 2) unroll the tubing, 3) remove needle cover, 4) remove paper covering sticky, 5) cock it, 6) let 'er fly, 7) push down on center & pull away. Maybe you thought they did it manually because it's all assembled and only a couple moves to do it? Truly, I don't see how I could do it manually.
I went from a Medtronic just recently to a t-slim. I love the Medtronic clip - but not the t-slim. The t-slim is hard to open and/or clip on to looser clothing, like my pajama shorts. Wish there was more options for the type of clip with cases. Seems like it would be an easier thing to offer. I also am not a fan of having to use Tandem's programed target BS when using the IQ technology. I have gastroparesis and having a lower target (110) can make it very easy for me to slip into an extreme low. Not sure why they won't let us program that. If our doctor's think we can manage a pump with this technology they ought to know if we can handle it. Plus if they htink we can't, they just don't prescribe the Dexcom G6 CGM.
Their infusion canula is what "allegedly" sent me to the hospital in ICU due to getting dka from super high sugars last month. The bad thing is that the dka happened while out of state. My insurance will only pay for medical issues within my state only. So now I'm getting swamped with medical bills that seems unlikely that I'll be able to pay off since I'm on disability.
What has been the problem is that the infusion cannula would often bend while in my flesh which makes it lose its ability to deliver the insulin. So my sugars were going into the 500s a lot. i just got this pump earlier this summer so Im still new to
I would check my insertion site and see if an occlusion might be making the sticky part of the infusion turn color from the insulin not having anywhere to go and leaking out like with my old pumps but I couldnt see any edvidence of leaking/blockage for whatever reason.
After having to be admitted to the hospital I kept trying to find an answer. I had to go to the ER 2 or 3 more times for ketone sickness last month as well. I stopped wearing the pump and went back to the shots for bout a week or so which meant that my sugars suddenly stopped going into the 500s.
Well after researching it I found out that a lot of people on Tandem's pump have this issue. So some of them said that tandem has the TruSteel infusion that doesnt cause as much trouble.
I just put it in so hopfully it will work better.
Other then that I like the pump.
Why are people choosing the t slim over the 670G ...... if anyone can share there feedback with me..... I would appreciate
It.
A few questions if u don't mind:) Are you going to stay with Tslim? Do you know if there are any infusion sets without that pig tail thing? That may be a deal breaker as well as that clip set up. I'm on Animas as well so you've made some great points. Also how often does it have to be charged? That seems like a pain:( Thanks Danica!
The clip can be glued directly to the back of the pump to get rid of the case. That is what they said in my pump class. Haven't received my T:Slim yet.
I miss the old tandem clips, because the new ones dont hold very well. But the old ones broke all the time...
I just got my T-Slim X-2 pump today. The manual is nearly 350 pages. I hope it's not going to be that hard to use! I've been on MDI for like 4 years and am type 2. I think I remember hearing that I have to take some kind of computer course before I can use it. Is that correct?
I'm also an Animas pump user deciding whether to go with the medtronic 670 or the T slim. I'm presently in a clinical trial using the medtronic 670 in auto mode. Let's just say I'm not a fan of the Medtronic sensor. If you've had the opportunity to use the Dexcom system either integrated into a pump or as a stand alone you will probably agree that the Medtronic CGM system comes in at a distant second place.
Thanks for your review. I did want to note that you made no comment on the waterproof nature of the pump. I'm an avid kayaker and the Animas' waterproof feature is what initially drew me to Animas. I'm able to snorkel, kayak and in general participate in water sports without every worrying about ruining my pump. Question: Will I be able to say the same about the T:slim?
thanks
Heidi
Ok no way ive been using tslim for a year and I NEVER KNEW ABOUT THE CALCULATOR THIS IS LIFE CHANGING!!! I feel so dumb now but thank you for saying that!
Jensen Lorio I just switched to the t:slim, and my trainer said she didn’t know it had the calculator for 2 years! 😂
IHasDoughnut that makes me feel better haha
Same!!!!
why did not you talk about reservoir etc..
Have you tried it with the Dexcom CGM? I know I am changing from a medtronic 670G and have a Dexcom CGM and it seems to do great
Chris Bullock She has a video about the combination of the 2, so yes! T-slim and Dexcom g6!!!
Were there a few cords of a Hannah Montana Song at the end? 😅
Also cool Video :) I wish that they would finally come to other countries 😑
I'm in the process of looking for a pump. I found this very helpful. QUESTION: Is the touchscreen subject to 'accidental' programming, or does that somewhat tough screen activating button avoid such problems? and... How long does the screen stay 'on' after you're done interacting with it? I'll also be interested in frequency of charging once you get it connected with the Dex com 6 CGM. Thanks!
You have to push 1-2-3 buttons to activate.
You can set the screen to go off after 15, 30, 60, 90, and 120 seconds. So up to you on that. Also once it is off, there's a button to push, plus 3 touch screen pushes before it will let you mess with anything. Just went through training today. Could be fudging the seconds a bit, but I know there's atleast the 15,30, and 120 second interviels
What do you mean by typing in your blood sugar and your carbs ? Being a Type-2 diabetic, I understand about blood sugar. I do not understand what you mean by typing in your carbs ? Thank you.
Question: Wife wants to know what does the 2 red lines going horizontally mean on pump?
Within the lines is the range where BG should be, the upper one is 200, the lower I think is 70. The lower is red, yes, but the upper is orange-yellow. The actual numbers are on the right
Do you have to change the set when it alarms that it is time to do so? Will it keep working longer so you don't waste insulin? One thing I don't like about the Omnipod is that the pumps shuts down after 3 days.
Linda Fenech you can skip setting that alarm but it will let you know when you’re about out of insulin.
You can choose to set the site reminder or not. Even if you have the site reminder on, you can cancel the notification and continue using it as you were.
The Omnipod is still better once you get tubed up again you loose so much freedom. You can always pull the insulin out and put in the next if you need to. I'll never go back to tubed..I have had a pump for 12 years or so. The last few months on the omnipod. Soon Omnipod will come out with their own version of loop.
