How is RPA different?
RPA vs Macro's or Inbuilt Application based automation:
RPA has Wider automation scope (i.e. not dedicated to specific application)
RPA can work on multiple applications (i.e. Web/Desktop/Mainframe/Citrix etc.)
RPA can integrate between multiple applications
RPA can be leveraged for complex logic at faster speed
RPA vs BPM (Business Process Management)
Business process management is the discipline in which people use various methods to discover, model, analyze, measure, improve, optimize, and automate business processes.
BPM is not a tool rather an approach to streamline a process.
BPM and RPA can be used in co-relation to first simplify the process and then automate post highlighting the areas of improvement
BPM can be used as part of re-engineering
“RPA is complementing to BPM not a replacement.”
RPA vs AI (Artificial Intelligence)
RPA can be considered as Dumb (as it works on hard code rule-based logic), however AI is smarter as it enhances and adapt with time and training data.
Cognitive automation, where AI complements RPA.
Few e.g. if use of ICR, OCR etc.
Intelligent Automation - RPA + AI
