- Völuspá (Prophecy of the Seeress) is the first and best known poem of the Poetic Edda. It tells the story of the creation of the world and its coming end related by a völva or seeress addressing Odin. It is one of the most important primary sources for the study of Norse mythology.
The prophecy commences with an address to Odin. The seeress then starts relating the story of the creation of the world in an abridged form. She explains how she came by her knowledge and that she understands the source of Odin's omniscience, and other secrets of the gods of Asgard. She deals with present and future happenings, touching on many of the Norse myths, such as the death of Baldr and the binding of Loki. Ultimately the seeress tells of the end of the world, Ragnarök, and its second coming. - Hudba
I am Celtic by my Gallic father and Viking by my Norman mother ..... 2 pagan cultures but so rich despite their differences ..... I discovered this viking and I love it .... thank you very much
His lungs are made of titanium. In all seriousness though, this is a beautiful song and a beautiful poem. He is absolutely incredible.
I think that they were forged by the same Dwarves who made Mjolnir
Absolutely your right his voice is absolutely amazing and beautiful
No he is just a really good baritone...if you like him check out Kopiklaani. Their lead singer Jonne is like Johnny Cash with long blond dreadlocks!
A tip: you can watch series on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching lots of of movies these days.
@Victor Calvin Yup, been using flixzone for months myself :D
I'm from Brazil and dont understand a single word this fantastic singer says. What I know is that he does what a real artist is suposed to do: enchant you, take you to another world. He owns a primitive, emotional, manly, epic, sad, powerful, awesome voice. He has a gift, for sure. About the "viking discussion" below? Peace, guys. Let's listen to Mr. Einar Sevik.
Grego Perseu concordo c cada palavra:)

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
O sol fica negro, a terra afunda no mar
As estrelas brilhantes caem do céu
Cachoeiras fluem e águias voam no alto
@Caio Vieira wish there is English translation
It's a song about the events of Ragnarok, you can find translations online
It's a masterpiece of folklore in such a powerful language.. Einar Selvik is a genius
He is that, but more than that, he is trying to teach us all to speak and sing our lives and deaths with passion.
I'm from Poland and when I listen this song... I know that I have two souls... Slav & Nord Soul... Gods bless Pagan souls which still believe in you...
Love both versions.
The one we know (Vikings) has a very darker and kind of sinister theme.
This one has a much more beautiful and peaceful theme.
I want to run naked throught the forest
I understand you so much... Come whenever you want with me, I'm not gay, I'm just a kind of pagan/hippie who loves nature.
@@nibormorfleur7922 what in the pagan world does loving nature has to do with running naked in the woods 😂😂😂
Been there........
Before you do you should cover yourself with a good insect repellent and make sure you are not in bear or wolf country because getting in touch with Nature is one thing but getting eaten by something is quite another! And if you really want to get naked go have a sauna and then jump into a lake like the real Northern Europeans do and then follow it by drinking half a bottle of vodka or brannevin...skoal!
Stimme: Note 1!
Amazing performance, Einar's voice is simply enthralling. I love his intro to the song in the video upload, but let's be honest, cut to the chase and give me the amazing voice.
voice and music out of this world
vicky k thankyou for uploading this much appreciated x
This song is so beautiful and Einars performance is simply brilliant. I just saw him a few days ago live at a festival and when he played that song, I hade tears in my eyes.

Amazing talent. Hello from KY
Simply amazing. Well done scandinavian brothers from a fellow slav :D
Andy Holcroft How so?
I have always and always will have conflict.....as why i have Orthodox and pagan tattoos on my body... i have roots of my forefathers. but my Slavic wife also calms my soul with Orthodox..it keeps me grounded
Amazing :)
When i first saw him, I thought he was Ragnar. I'm like, I didn't know Travis Fimmel/ Ragnar sings. 😊
Skol, and to my fallen brothers, till Valhalla where we meet again and feast with Odin.
Skål from Sparta, Greece :)
I'm not saying it's his purpose but if I wanted to convert people back to paganism this is definitely how I'd do it

Does anyone know how the beautiful instrument is called that this amazing man wields?
It's a lyre.
@@lpsmw Thank you. Wow, was it really that simple?
A kravik lyre. There are some guides on CZcams and the net on how to make them. They are sometimes also available on medival/viking faires from crafters.
Amazing voice. Anyone know where I can find the entire poem?
www.voluspa.org/voluspa.htm
Wow I'm for sure marrying a viking man Wow he has it all amazing voice excellent music performance and beautiful absolutely brilliant music and brilliant voice
maybe slavic instead, huh?
Finns are even more attractive and their voices are just as good...they have a long tradition of fine male singers. The actors who play Halfdan and Harald on Vikings are both Finnish and you hear them sing in the introduction of one of the episodes from season 5. It is on CZcams titled "Singing Across the Battlefield."
43 thumbs down, must have been King Aelle and his men.
Is this Icelandic or norway language? Google said icelandic. Does anyone know?
Old Icelandic i think
It's Old Norse I believe. The lyrics are taken from the original Voluspá poem.
It is old Norse ;)
it norrønt. Old Norse or current Icelandic. remember that Iceland was colonized by Norwegians, but in Norway the language changed due to several things such as the plague, and being under the control of the Danes for a long time. SO where in Norway the language changed, in Iceland it stayed "pure". hope this is helpful to ya
very much. Thnks buddy
Vikings Rules!
What's the name of this instrument? It's a kind of harp, right?
Nordic Lyre influenced by the first roman lyre or Kithara (same shape )
More precisely, a kravik lyre. Google that.. :-)
I want to learn this language
So go ahead. And don't listen to anyone, who would say -" It's of no use.". To hell with'em. Tolkien proved that, didn't he?
And on the second, (and more imortant) note - didn't Einar prove that?
Dmitry Filippov I want to learn it for my own reasons. Fuck other peoples opinions. Its a beautiful language and a beautiful land
Prime Commander what language is it exactly?
BB old norse
When Athlestan dies
Hail Ragnar
I can feel my beard growing up
Again make me wanna start a fight and go ape shit
Funny thing is that people all over the world try their best to be "vikings". Even Einar himself laughs at these new "pagans".
Quoting his exact words for History Channel, 'A viking isn't something you are, it was something you did'. ;)
O brave 21st century!
Especially since these new pagans are kind of cucks toward other religions and too much peace and harmony oriented which doesn't work with Vikings
I mostly referred "cucks" as people who bow to religions that take away their ways of life. Just like what is happening in the occident at the moment. Surely Vikings were open minded, but until the abrahamic toxicity of Christianity came upon them; they were living true to their culture, but that religion ate them away just as our culture is currently dying or just as my own culture was drained away by colonisators.
I agree with the original message...Einar has denied any affiliation with neopaganism and criticized the way in which some of these groups use Norse "paganism" to diguise their Fascist political agendas as spirituality. I admire him for doing so.
Nothing wrong in trying to be pagan.
They might actually reach their goal in the end.
