The cab driver has a smile on his face! Great restoration! Another winner!
Thanks man! This makes me have a smile on my face! Have a nice day!
Amazing how you brought back the orange/yellow color. Beautiful restoration.
Thanks! Glad you like it!
Sorry if I’ve already commented on this video.... but I really like this casting. It has a clean yet understated vibe that I enjoy. The Impala from the 60s Rocks!!!
This one looks fantastic. Excellent job on the repair of the base too. The paint match also turned out wonderfully.
That model of Impala is one of my favourite cars Chevrolet made back in the day. As a kid a neighbour had one in red. Such a gorgeous automobile.
Thanks! I rather not have to repair the base, but it turned out fine 😊
One of my favorite models. I keep finding them completely trashed and not fixable. Great job.
Luckily this one was fixable. I even made it harder than it was by damaging the base myself 😂
Absolutely love this video - so much patience required to do this - which I don't have! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the kind words! :)
Very good job. I used to play with this model often.
Thank you! They do were/are lovely toys. Good memories.
A true pleasure to watch,,,,I have one of these to restore and this is really motivating,,, wonderful craftsmanship,,, Thanx
Good luck! It's a fun one to restore!
I love impala and your restoration is beautiful 👌
Peace ✌️
Thanks! Glad you like it!
I love those old school models
Glad that you could bring it back to its former glory !
Yes, they look awesome, don't they. Thanks for the kind words!
'Marty's Matchbox Makeovers' has started a revolution!
It sure did! 😅
Neat work on the car. Wish my full size car on my channel could go that fast.
Thanks! Nice projects on your channel, I subbed!
I can see that you are developing your own methods and skills when doing these restorations. Your yellow taxi came out really well. Thanks for sharing your experiences and skills.
a great job. Caustic soda is my favourite paint stripping approach, it is fun (if a little dangerous) and very fast.
Thanks Ben! Yes, I'm careful with that 😅
This was one of my favorite Matchbox cars as a kid. Wish I still had this one. Wonderful restoration! Bravo!!!!!
That came out great. The color looks fantastic.
Thanks!
Your painting getting a lot better 👍🏻 looks good
Thanks! It takes some time to get it right, but I think it's going in the right direction.
Matchbox Restoration ye it’s looking good mate keep it up
Nice resto! Very popular model!
Thank you!
Great job. I think by cleaning up the body with a soft metal brush was a masterstroke. It made the final paint job look excellent and the best finish of any matchbox restoration video I have seen. You should use this technique it as often as possible
Thanks, Timothy! I'll keep it in mind for my next ones 😉
If you want to do the tail lights, ultra fine red Sharpe works well.
Otherwise, it turned out great!
Thanks for the advice, but I like to keep them as they came original. Personal choice :)
Nice color match. That color you made says “Taxi cab” without a doubt.
Thanks!
Beautiful restoration - nice paint job and color match - I am very impressed with how you did the plastic wind shield - excellent job - I enjoy watching your videos - thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the kind words, Paul! I like how the windshield turned out, very pleased with that!
Nice, I have the same exact 64 Impala in a pretty much identical condition as you started with.
Cool! It's a nice casting!
Sure is, these castings have some really impressive metal etching for the 1960s.@@MatchboxRestoration
Nicely done. Those mid 60s Impalas were always favorites.
They do look great, don't they!
Super nice car, Impala is awesome 👏
Thanks! It sure is a great casting!
Nice impala and rare car .nice job with it came out nice ill like old car. impala are favorite car but like all kind car
America cars
Thanks, Robert
That’s a great casting. Great work bringing it back to life. Cool driver.
Another super restoration , regards, Tim.
Thanks, Tim!
Beautiful restoration.
Thank you, Steven!
Well done! Sam and Dean Winchester would be horrified that "baby" was a taxi (Supernatural reference).
😄Thanks!
that Impala looks great!
Thanks! It's a great casting for sure!
Good to see Marty's Method had legs.
Marty's Matchbox Makeovers is what got me started! Love his work and learned a lot from his videos!
Superb restoration your attention to detail is excellent. Look forward to the next one.
Thanks for the kind words, John!
Great job, looks fantastic.
Well thank you!
Great job. Looks amazing!
Thank you, Philip!
Very nice restore, loved the yellow of the taxi. Keep up the great work...
Thanks, Char! More coming up ;-)
Amazing restoration turned out Perfect well done 👍.
I wish I had my old matchbox cars.
My old matchbox cars aren't old enough to feature here. They are all Superfast or newer. 😅
Very nice restore! One thing you could do to speed up roughing in the shape on the super glue body work is to use a Dremel with a sanding disc.
Thanks for the advice! 👍
Fantastic restoration paint job looks great 👍
Thanks, Jerry!
The Chevy Impala turned out *REALLY* nice, well done 👍
Very nice. It’s awesome to see your skills improve with every restoration!
Thanks for the kind words!
Very nice! Good repair work as well!
Thank you! I was quite happy with how the repair turned out :)
Got mine for Xmas of 67, was Confiscated by my Teacher in Late Winter of 68, Never got it Back, I Loved that #20, the 64 Impala Taxi.
Those teachers, eh... 😅
That grille looks really good. You've developed a style that works well :)
Thanks, Brian! I do like the look of the paint. I don't see a reason to change it... 😄
9:32 - looks like you had to repair the vertical window pillar as well. Nice job. Care must be taken to warm the glass jar, just with some hot tap water, before using boiling water. I've had a jar crack from thermal shock before spilling boiling water and glass shards over my bare feet. lesson definitely learnt.
Good eyes! 😇 Thanks for the advice! I always try to be careful around those things!
Very good video and restoration, 1st time watching for me but will watch more now👍👍
Great to hear you like it! Thanks!
Another fine restoration!
Thank you, Johnny!
A very good movie, thanks.
Thank you, Paul!
You got better fast. Great job!
Thanks!
Nice Job, well done. Looks great. Clear cote and klear on windscreen would have been an additional enhancement. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! 👍 I'm looking into it!
I have one of these, and in almost the same condition.
I've had it for about 20 years now, maybe even longer.
Very nice i like the color and detail
Thanks!
A nice repair on the rear bumper. Good job.
Thanks, Rick!
Sweet restoration!
Thanks, Don!
This looks awesome!! Nice job.. Im starting with my first matchbox car on my channel
Nice job on that bumper repair. Great work.
Thanks, Scott!
looks better than Original, but not too much, so its a really good restauration and a nice vid. thanks
Haha, thanks. You put it well there 😊
The plastic suspension unit can be placed into a saucer of boiling water and reshaped to its original flat shape giving the car its higher suspension sit.
Thanks! That's some great advice. I'll try this in a future restoration video!
I like that it has a little guy in it 🙂
That's Mark, the driver 😊He's a funny guy.
Matchbox Restoration Tell Mark I said “Hi”! 😆
Good job nice patience fine work
Thanks! A little patience goes a long way 😊
Excellent restoration!
NB: I'd be happier if you use some gloss coat/ clear coat after the paint. It keeps the paint from chipping and contributes to the shine of the model.
Actually, it has a clear coat applied to it :)
Sorry for not noticing that......
But can you please use a gloss coat on your next resto? 😇
Looks great nice restoration
Thanks, Jesse!
Oh my goodness, that turned out so lovely, thank you, as always take care from South Africa
Thank you very much from Belgium 😉
Excellent work thanks!
Thank you, Dan!
Wonderful restoration!
Brilliant!
Great build, Beauty Mate.
Oooooooh yeah
Thanks, Jono 👍
Great presentation! Your videos are both educational and informative thank you.
Thanks! I learned a lot from other videos, so I like to share the methods I use.
Brilliant colour match. Really enjoying your videos.
It was a bit more orange than I expected, but I'm happy with it 😊 Thanks!
Color. Not colour
awesome restore, thanks for sharing hope soon i get the time to do this also
Looking forward to your vids!
NP, I dunk the metal into CLR for 10-15 minutes, then gentle brass wire brush. Amazing results. Saves time. (CLR is a lime-away product). BTW, superb save as usual.
Thanks for the great advice! 👍
Finally fingers are safe when drilling the posts; pops Champaign.
Haha, 🍸cheers!
amazing - you are a big artists...
Thanks for the kind words. I get all my techniques from other peoples advice, so a lot of credit goes to the people that help me out by giving me feedback.
Best one yet..... a really nice job ....congratulations
Thanks, Richard! Thanks for the kind words!
You became more and more the Dutch Marty! Nice job thanks for the vid.
The Belgian Marty 😇 Haha, thanks man!
That looks beautiful. It's a Lesney Matchbox model that I don't ever recall owning, even in the 1960's. I'll have to seek one out, now. Thanks for sharing! Oh, and be careful with Caustic Soda solution - it's evil stuff.
I know, I'm taking precautions with it! Thanks!
I really like how your restoration came out!
Thank you! More coming up 😉
Very. Sweet 😊. So. Cool 😎. Love. Your. Work. Had. One. As. A. Kid. First. Car. Wish. I. Still. Did. Owell. Lee
Using baking soda you are better sticking with the gel superglue, I tried it with the more runny superglue and it ran off before I could put the baking soda on it.
The pens screw apart. This is so you can use the Molotaw refill on them. For larger areas I airbrush the Molotaw chrome paint. It lays down a little thinner and dries faster. Tip, use 91% isopropyl alcohol to clean your airbrush.
Thanks for the advice! 👍
Well done!!!!...............
Thanks, Karl!
Nice job on car
Thank you, Larry!
Your welcome, look forward to the next restoration.
I prefer to take a fine tip brush with the chrome pen dabbed on a surface. Just dip the brush in the big glob of paint.
Well, that's the problem, I can't get the paint out of the pen like that. I'll give it another go, though... Thanks for the advice!
Excellent job!!
Thanks, George!
Love it. Yellow hue looks especially nice.
Thanks! 😊
And that's magic !
Thanks, Steve!
I think it looked awesome
Thanks! 👍
