What most of us are after is ultimately feeling good in our bodies. With that being said, we can't ignore how primal, or animal, movement exercises impact how we feel in our bodies for the better. In this video, Strength Side provides some tried and true animal movements that you can start practicing today! Start with one and see how you feel. Consistency is key so even though it may end up feeling unnatural at first, if you keep at it you'll see big changes in how your body responds! - Zábava
Crawling has changed my life. There's no going back for me and I hope that some of the movements help inspire a new way to move for you. Let me know which movement you're thinking of adding to your routine in the comments below. And don't forget your MSN 25% off code ► ANIMALMOVEMENT
what if you have to choose only one best exercise? :)
Ape Traverse, I CHOOSE YOU ! they are all super effective, but I think the ape traverse gave me the most right now.
absolutely underrated stuff , great video ; really glad that you guys are spreading awareness of our primal nature , ppl really should be spending more time on the ground for their own natural benefit
I'm curious about the "crawling has changed my life" statement. I don't feel you're prone to exaggeration so it might be enlightening for people if you go into this more at some point in the future. Thank you for all your work, I'm going outside to crawl around a bit right now. Cheers!
Thanks bro for the great video. Tried some of the movements today. Feeling really energized.
I’m 52 and I started crawling around the ground when I saw your videos two years ago. Having been a bodybuilder for 39 years I thought I knew it off and learned it all. I can’t tell you how much my mobility’s improved doing the movements you’ve shown.
Good luck to everyone on your fitness training
So even though doing this looks crazy... You are telling us this improved your training, movments and gains ( Im not looking for size ) with doing one or some of these moves?
I did never crawl as a baby. I did jump from sitting to stand after one year old. At 50, middle the pandemic, I started to rewire my brain and body and started to explore areas I never used to use. Many people look at these movements as unreachable to get. But since our brains and bodies are fully designed to perform them, they are easier to do as they initially seem to our blocked sensors we call senses. Is just to awaken those brain areas little by little czcams.com/users/shortsawY6ZfBCBmE

How long do you crawl everyday?
@@martbau25 while I don’t necessarily crawl everyday, I’m on all four on the floor doing yoga exercises. Downward dog, etc. I’m on my hands daily practicing handstands against the wall. Watching tv I’m on all fours in crab position for at least 10 of every 60 minutes.
Crawling is more fun than workout for me. I follow “use it or lose it” philosophy to move dynamically throughout the day
Crawling, just regular crawling has helped me heal an acquired brain injury. Anything that crosss left & right sides helps 💕
proud of u
I summoned Aliens by crawling in circles.
Yes! Dr. Glenn Doman advocate for crawling as a means to grow from brain injuries. His studies and work were focused more on children, but our still applies!
Congrats on your healing journey!!!
What kind of brain injury if you don't mind?
Recognizable, learning how to play drums helped me a lot.
Amazing! I'm a Brazilian and I practice capoeira, and by adding this moviments to my workout routine, I was able to perform many movements that I couldn't do before.
I’m 65 & I started crawling across the floor and up the steps about a month ago. It’s life changing & exhilarating.
hope you make it to bed soon

@@TheGimmelstob hahahaha a month to get there is a long time crawling!
You've been crawling for a month without sleep?
My youngest daughter is learning to crawl as we speak. Its incredible how all the pieces are discovered then slowly strung together. She's basically my fitness coach - I do what she does and its been the best stretching routine.
I've been thinking about it for weeks. Toddlers and up to maybe 10 year olds are fantastic fitness coaches. They are learning what comes naturally and what the human body should be doing to be functional and strong. It's so obvious and hardly anyone realizes it!
vest teacher right there!
Yeah, definitely! Most of us need to pace toddler style workouts, because we need to build the core strength they have. Crawling replaced my abs training and gave me stronger abs and mobility.
Your body is going to be very different than a toddler. Definitely learn from channels like these to prevent injury.
This is awesome!
Who knew that crawling is so essential to my health. I'm 61 and have been weightlifting since I was 19. I have done different things for agility and flexibility but never thought to add crawling into my workouts. Ever since I added Crawling movements into my routines. I noticed that my muscle development has improved, and aesthetically more defined. I have gained strength as well. Thank you so much. Your channel is very valuable. I enjoy your contents tremendously!
CZcams recommended this vid earlier this year and I have tried the routine since. A few weeks later, I can see my arm strength increase significant. At the time of this comment, I can see my body is changing. So, I just want to thank you. I cannot say how your content had helped me so much. Before reaching this point, I have been on the fitness journey for more than 10 years. I tried yoga, gym, running, basketball, body weight trainning. ... and none of them like this one.
How did you structure your routine? Did you just follow the moves in the video for X amount of time?
@@peache8 I do not have any routine to be honest. I just perform the moves whenever I like it. Like after I brush my tea, in the middle of a working session etc. I usually count to 10 for each move. I also involve other moves in this channel, and other channels.

I love this, thank you, my husband would have loved this too. He had beautiful blue eyes like yours and inspired me to develop passion for physical strength and overall health before he left his body one year ago. I am very inspired to incorporate crawling into my weekly workouts. I have already been doing inchworm, and I’m excited to have so many more animals to move like. Thank you for spreading your good vibes!
Stay strong! You're awesome
I have been watching gymnastics classes of my daughter. They are doing bear crawls, crabs during warm ups and cat crawl on a balance beam. Also noticed an ape traverse a couple of times. It seems so natural for little gymnasts but never thought of doing this myself. Now this all makes total sense to me. Will give it a try. Thanks. 🐈🐾
I have a newfound appreciation for TWO amazing Cross Country running coaches I had, (one in HS in 1980 and one years later in college as an adult walk on to the team in 1998!) These two loved to have us doing this style as our warm ups pre run. OMG, what a delightful fitness video. New subscriber here, (age 57,) and so glad to come across your channel! Now, let's see how slow I need to go in order to safely start these. :)
This is brilliant! I've been practicing these patterns from your other videos, but having a compilation like this is super helpful. Love your energy guys, always bring a smile :) Appreciate the time and effort. Enjoy the fatherhood!
Thanks! I thought it was about time we have a video with all the basic crawls together :)
I crawl every day from sofa to fridge and back. It has changed my body tremendously 😂
What changes you observed bro can you tell us?

Thank you☺️ I’ve been doing the cat, bear and ape for a few weeks, outside and in. I’m excited to try the crocodile😁 I’m so grateful for you, thank you for being here and for being you💫 I love and appreciate you✨💜♾🥰
Awesome Trevor and Josh, as always! Just started Month 2 of Move Strong Now (MSN), and goodness gracious am I enjoying it. Weight training, swimming and running nearly all of my life (I'm a 66-year old female), I wanted something new that didn't require weights necessarily. I am so happy that I decided to jump right in to your MSN program. The first month was fairly straightforward in a good way of course. But this second month is totally unexpected in how I feel after the first week - amazing. Keep up the great work!
That's great to hear! Month 2 gets into some fun stuff :) Just wait till month 3
I just started understanding the importance of mobility strength/flexibility exercises at 62...Prior to that I'd do warm-ups of 10 to 15 reps each then workout with weights 10 reps/3 sets and static stretching afterwards...what you guys do makes perfect sense and highly effective... love y'all!!
Another solid video, I’ve been following you guys for a while and always impressed with your authenticity! Am 58yr old and have been doing these moves 5yrs and have gained so much strength, thank you! Working on ring muscle ups from your videos too! Kia kaha from Aotearoa NZ
respect bro thank you!
This is awesome! I actually do most of these in my gymnastics warm up- the coaches get us to do them both forwards and backwards. I didn't realise how beneficial it is, they're super fun to do and as well as mobility I find it really helps with better body awareness. So cool😊
Hey, compliments for your explanation and your charisma 😅 I did this in the new dance technique lessons when I was twenty and I am still doing sports daily at the age of 57. Now I will return to this training to improve my mobility. Thanks for the inspiration ❤
I love your videos, I can only say that since I started to practice this moves, I only advance forward with my bobility. I am 51 and have more mobility now then when I was in my mid twenties, when I use to run and weight train. I am amazed at how I feel now ❤
My Name is Bob I. Lity and I approve this message.

You guys are amazing how you educate and motivate us all to try and do the same. I have a garden with grass but I have issues with slugs and neighbours cats popping occasionally in my garden. So I’d have to wear gloves if I try this on my lawn and I’d be anxious what my neighbours would think. 😂 probably better to do this in my gym and some of the easier ones like crab crawls indoors in my hallway. I’m also moving away from conventional shoes to barefoot shoes with flat feet. I’m 51 but I feel I can do it with time, patience and practice.
Watch these videos for a while and lacking the confidence to try the moves, I spontaneously got down on the floor today and gave them a first try bc your explanations are so inviting. It went much better than I expected and now I feel prepared for the day and soo good! Thank you for sharing!
I’ve been hopping, bouncing and shuffling along on my hands doing animal flow for about two weeks just around my house. Not even all day, just whenever I remember.
Even these two weeks has made a huge difference to my flexibility and stability.
And given my Dyson vac a workout too given I can now see my floors from much closer now.
😂 that’s nice!
It's brilliant! I've been exploring pilates and yoga for over 10 years so far to battle a scoliosis (which I do pretty successfully) but animal flow feels like a missing chain in my journey. Love it! Thank you for your work!
Yes! Yes!! Yes!!! So grateful to you guys for this gift to my life about 3-4 years ago. Not stopped crawling and playing since ❤😊
Wow!! What a workout. Just did these at home!! I injured my shoulder last year and this was great for my mobility. I feel refreshed, and can tell I challenged a whole new range of muscles that had not been used in this fashion before. Thanks again!
Lifelong fitness guy here, and at 63 now found it’s time for me to do this. Opens my hips and shoulders and lower back. You’ve got a nice vibe. ❤
I saw some short video about the crawl switch a couple of months ago and started doing that, very badly I might add. I was amazed at how it developed so many muscles in my upper shoulders and back, and it felt so good! At 67 it's difficult to maintain strength, my gym exercises with machines and weights weren't cutting it. But just that one movement did so much, and then I finally found out what it's called, so I was able to look up all the resources on animal flow and animal movement.
My shoulders feel so good now! As I've gotten older I've noticed that one of the main things that gives your body that old man look is loss of upper body strength. I look so much better with my shoulders and chest filled out with muscle.

I've already picked up a few of these crawls on your other videos, and I've seen insane increases in my mobility and explosiveness while bouldering. All the stretching I always did never gave me anything like this. And it's a great routine to do on rest days: intensive enough to get the whole body flowing but relaxed enough to not put any strain on your body. Keep it up Strength Side!
could not have put it better myself. Cheers!
I have been following you since "the beginning" and you never lost your soul, you kept your style and made it a signature style. thanks for the quality and the good vibes of your videos.
Bro that forest you shot your video in is magestic!!! I am a 28 year old guy who has beat up my body from extreme sports and lifting. I am so locked up its crazy...
Injury after injury and I never listen to these messages from my body.
I think its ok to want to look good but I wish I had someone tell me we should focus on a functional body first and build from there.
Im going to drop my ego and dive into this movement idea !!!
Thankyou for sharing your wisdom with us.
Thank you so much for posting this video. I watched it about a week ago and started doing it right away. The bear crawl I found the easiest so I decided to give it a serious try. After only a few days I've discovered that my IBS symptoms including intestinal spasms started to go away. I walk differently now, have more energy, my muscles are developing nicely and there is a massive shift in my mood. Sometimes after doing the crawl for about 10 minutes I feel simply overjoyed. Doctors for 45 years didn't know how to help me and one week of bear walking did the trick! Isn't that amazing!?
6x judo champ and BJJ brown belt and I’ve always liked animal crawls since I learned about it from the old BJJ master videos but some of these have even greater ranges of movement. Definitely adding these to our warm ups. Great videos man thank you :)
these are great I highly recommend crawling BACKWARDS or any backwards movements like a sled drag. we are ALWAYS moving forwards and sitting is actually also pushing the pelvis and hips forwards
im really digging this video, normally i gravitate towards strongman, Olympic, powerbuilding styles, but you look so graceful when you move! i definitely cant wait to incorporate this into my routine
I love this channel. You explain beautifully & your videos are easy to follow. Thanks for all your efforts with your videos! 👍🏼
Excellent video, gentlemen. I've been in the movement game myself for a while. My only additions to what you show here is to hang from something for time, and to pause all the animal movements from time to time (like when someone calls out, "Stop!") and hold these positions isometrically. I have rehabbed an old shoulder problem with the crab-the one-arm version, if you can keep your hips up, is particularly good. Great work!
I'll give it a try just because it's fascinating to watch you move. You have an incredible strength and move in such an elegant way...wonderful! Congratulations!
You guys are such good teachers......respect and gratitude! Been crawling a bit since watching your instructions and I can attest it is a super hack.
I appreciate you Brother I really like the mobility I have been able to gain from these type of movements. I am 63 and found them to be extremely helpful with my flexibility although I have been exercising most of my life. Peace
Thanks so much Josh and Trevor for being so inspirational to me!
I'm new here to the Strength Side community but ever since stumbling upon your videos my daily routine has changed so dramatically!
Being a Yoga teacher and practitioner my daily Yoga practice was beginning to take the back seat as it was starting to get a bit stale. You guys have inspired me to play around with your different strength and mobility drills and now I incorporate them along with my Yoga practice which has made it so much more enjoyable!
My yoga mat is now permanently on my living room floor and Im forever moving around on it throughout the day simply because I enjoy it.
Thank you guys for your philosophy on movement and helping me to enjoy my yoga practice again 🙏
Veronica from Australia 🇦🇺
Same here😂 The yoga mat is not moving!
Beautiful. Love to see the practice expand and evolve. Much love Veronica
So graceful. It looks like my body would love it; I will try them out!
Thank you for this ! I personally do animal flow and I've only ever done the low lunge stretch but now I can see it's been integrated into a crawl ! This Is awesome !
Yo. I just stumbled upon this. I’ve been looking for something to help improve my mobility more than my current routine. As an ultra runner I spend hours doing the same repetitive motions. This feels like a great way to move in new ways and reduce my chance of injury. I do lots of yoga and training with bands but this seems really complimentary and useful!
I love the idea of animal movement because (1) it feels natural and (2) after just a few days, I can feel my muscles working in new ways. At the beginning, you mentioned, "the results are in: animalistic and primal styles of movement make people's bodies work better." I'd love to see that research, either linked here or in a separate video. Also, thanks for distilling the main movements into a self-contained video.
I tried it today and it was so much fun! I’m going to be adding this to my regular routine!
Channel numero uno for health. I love it. Thank you. I have reached a level I could have never dreamed. Thank you!
Look and also feeling good - should be your tagline. thanks for making me realize this
I'm really happy to you guys bringing these back 😊
I taught this training in a MMA School years back. I had other animal exercises for a warm up for jujitsu and kickboxing training. Seal, crocodile, leopard, cricket. I thought they were easy but now I know I was in really good shape at the time.
interesting! he gives some valid points on how people are constantly going to gyms and moving in a straight line, but we are neglecting all the other planes that we need to move in to keep our body healthy. For example, have you ever started an activity and realized that a whole different set of muscles are being used? That's what these new exercise regimens are designed to do. Pilates, yoga, tai chi, and kickboxing are some of the exercises designed to make you use muscles that you didn't know you had. It's kind of like basketball players using geometry to perfect their shot, they're training their skills at shooting by flexing their mental muscle. Take ice hockey players, they can train in ballet because there is some amount of grace and rhythm involved in shooting a puck into the goal, all while trying to balance on a 2mm blade on ice.
I am nearly 67 and have the usual range of aches at my age. I am super buzzed to try crawling and redefine what I believe I am capable of. Thankyou!
Simply amazing love the visual clarity of your explanations
Great video. I started with some of the simple things like the bear and cat crawl and honestly, my shoulders have never felt this good.

Beautiful video, tank top and humans. Keep up
Thank God is discovered this video in my early 30s and in the early start of 2024. I will perform these regularly and come back again exactly one year later to share my experience...
any updates 4 months later? Would love to hear!
Thanks for your video. It is clearly explained, it gives the confidence start it and just experience it. Take care.
My body absolutely LOVES this. The best part however is that SO DOES MY MIND. The instant shift into play mode is almost silly. And the new perspective of your home is just a huge plus.
This is something im very grateful in my karate training for. If you take traditional karate classes a lot of them have you do drills in a lot of the movements you showed here. As a kid I always wondered why, and thought it was some weird game race we did. But now that im older I realize i'm way more mobile and comfortable in doing weird lifting positions other people aren't. I'd say these movements are most important to teach to kids and teenagers.
As for the whole stop-and-stare problem. Just learn to put on your earbuds, put on your favorite work out playlist, and let yourself sink into your own world. Once you do that, the stares no longer matter.
agreed crawling type exercises are excellent for preparing the joints!
fantastic video - thank you
Thank you...both of you inspire me at my 56th year...I'm a workiing musician , father of a 6 years old boy (who demanda a lot of energy). I hace gims !! Rather use animal flow
Love it! just tried it and i will do it as often as possible. Thank you guys
Wow, For someone trying this for the first time this is a full body work out, even though I do regular gym work. It seems that it's just what I need for my mobility & core strength & should help for my simple everyday functional activities too - just my general moving around like bending down to pick things up, putting things in cupboards, putting on shoes , snowboard boots & bindings etc. Might sound silly but I've noticed these sorts of things gradually getting more difficult over the last few years. I do realise that it's due more to lack of full movement rather than age. Great introductory video to Animal Flow imo. Thanks.
improved relationship to gravity is a huge benefit of these movements :)
I gave up bjj, stretching and mobility after many injuries to my back, I will be slowly doing these to bring myself back to the gravity and earth while healing myself! Thanks!
Love this! Thank you for this will
Be sure to implement in my workouts 💫
Permanently added crawling to my routine. Wish I'd been doing this for 5 years already! I'm playing with all of these in random combinations. I'm doing this daily now. I don't care what my neighbors think! :)
haha great work man! The neighbors may be doing it with you before you know it

Kudos to the brothers! when you think they have invented every new movement, they come with this!!!! I love getting tips from this more than any other crowd
This seems so great ! I m gonna try
This is great. Anything that takes a baby from simply lying on their back to walking has to be an ultimate exercise. Will try these in the backyard. So much exercise is unidirectional. Squats, bicep curls, even walking. Body gets in a rut. Lately I have been walking backwards and sideways. Find all sorts of unused muscles. ☺
awesome stuff. I was only crawling basically forward and backwards but those different variations are really cool. Thx!
Great primal moves that will probably help my back problems. Thank you for these essential exercises and great content and production values (music). Grounding with the earth is important - do these exercises barefooted outdoors in the dirt or lawn.
Thanks!
This is great. I am adding animal moves to my calesthenics workout.
THANK YOU for all your information and inspiration!
Just came across this video and after going pretty much primal with my diet, these movements just make so much sense! I love it! Its a great way to connect with ones inner child too. 😊💛

same here! Great to hear
i'm a 46 year old man and crawling around my apartment... these movements are great, so much more fun than static holds and stretches too
Great video guys, I'm going to do some crawling for my warm-up tomorrow morning.
Thanks for the video! I love how you can gently ease into and increase mobility with these movements.
Can I do these movements every day?
I love this, bro. Thank you so much for thus. I dance and train bjj and these are most of the things we drill, but you added ones I didn't know about.
Cuddos!
Thank you guys for this. I've been lifting and training endurance for several years now but have always thought something was missing in my health and longevity goals.
it will be interesting to see how these benefit your lifting and running
Fantastic. THANKS!!
Lovely!! I just animal moved today after my 2 miles walk with weight vest on. Animal moves are the best to adjust my body and stretch it, too!! ❤ thanks for sharing these!!!!
i agree they give some sort of "reset"
I love the idea of this. I had carpel tunnel surgery and was rendered unable to put my weight on my wrists. But its getting better. I will practice this cat crawl until I can use my wrists again.
Very wee explained, both basics and progressions and modifications!
Woooow , wonderful content, Love it. Thank you for sharing

Great content, great vid. Well done! Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful fluid movement
Great vid! Thank you!
There's absolutely tons of benefits to this. There are reasons babies first learn to crawl ❤

Very good! Thanks for sharing that! Embarrassment is an issue for me to do that in public but at home it's been great so far
Looking forward to doing this with my little one, looks like fun.
love to have a follow along video combining a few primal movement to work out the whole body
I love this.
I am still going to do some stretching, too.
Primal fitness, I love it. ❤️
I LOVE this video, Josh & Trevor! This gives me a special aspiration. As a dancer, I’m inspired by these movements and want to master them. Back to MSN!!
