No one could have carried this dance inside a room with such finesse than Helen. She was a brilliant and very graceful dancer and her dance used to be the main attraction in a film. Amitabh is a master of the art of standing still in a song and being a part of the song and scene with his charismatic intensity. Love this song and the legendary dance which many have tried to imitate
Asha bhonsale, Lata Mangeshkar's sister used to sing such songs with aplomb. She still can sing well even into late 80's...
When you watch the movie, you actually understand the whole meaning of the song & you missed mentioning Asha Bhosle Ji, her voice is amazing. I hope you listen her more songs. Loved the reaction. If you close eyes, the song hits differently :)
Helen was very famous in the 60s and 70s for her cabaret moves. Just Google her songs. She was every cine goer's dream, the quintessential sexy vamp, coz in those days heroines were the typical virginal types :) As you rightly mentioned, she is married to Salim Khan and is stepmom to Salman Khan.

Jimmy, the pronunciation of the name Kamini is kaa.mi.ni(basically sound of an additional "a" after "k"). which means desirable/a beautiful woman. Actually the word you pronounced is kind of Hindi cuss word(but commonly used amongst friends) used as feminine of cruel/brute(person) ha ha.
by the way, Helen was very popular dancer & she is known as cabaret queen of Bollywood, you should explore more of her songs like O hasina zulfon wali, Mera naam chin chin chu, piya tu ab toh aaja, aa jaane jaan(most recommended), Mehbooba Mehbooba(Sholay) & o mungda mungda etc. you will love it.

Nice reaction. This was my childhood. Btw please review the 1965 movie Guide. It is an art film and the filmmaking and cinematography was very advanced for its time. It is a classic and a masterpiece.
Hi Jimmy, You need to the tell the context of the song to your friend so he knows what is going on and stop using derogatory terms like horror or frightening etc for song or dancer. Context - Helen (dancer) did not want him (Amitabh) to leave because her plan was to make him arrested by police. Reason - Amitabh Bachchan is Don in this movie and he killed Helen's lover. I don't see anything like dance moves etc. that tag this song HORROR. My husband is an American and he loves Helen in this song. Just let you know Helen is a legend and your friend should not talk she is frightening etc. any derogatory terms.

Helen was such a horrible "dancer" but she was in the right place at the right time I suppose. It's like, she has zero rhythm in her body. Not to mention the highly sexualised "dance moves" which are beyond vulgar. But people think today there is objectionable stuff, yet Bollywood in the 70s and 80s was much worse.
She was a fantastic dancer..nobody in bollywood today can dance like her..
