Vintage vs New - Rolex GMT Master | Watchfinder & Co.

- When Hans Wilsdorf first set out to build a watch company in 1905, he set himself a goal: to make the world's best watch. Early Rolex promotional material boasted the number of ways Wilsdorf's watches were tested in, the amount of accuracy records they'd beaten, their waterproof, dust proof and anti-magnetic capabilities-anything and everything. Of the GMT-Master, Rolex promotional material declares, 'If you were flying the Concorde tomorrow, you'd wear a Rolex.' With both supersonic passenger jets and mechanical wristwatches obsolete, can the modern GMT-Master collection still live up to Wilsdorf's goal of being the best?

‘Better that than endless limited editions of the same watch.’
Insane Omega burn.
Hahahah Omega just got roasted
Shots fired at Omega...
F* omega
Shitting on Hublot with that haha
Best roast ever for Omega....
the classiest watch channel on YT
Much obliged!
This is pure gold. This video has been outstanding. The knowledge and the expression are hooking, I haven't checked the rest of your videos yet, but I wanted you to know that this has been the best video about watches in youtube I have seen in a while. Thank you very much for giving this content to us, really thank you.
The condition on that gilt 1675 is absolutely insane. That thing is worth a pretty penny.
But the bracelet has seen better times. Quite a bit stretch at 4:11 :-D
Sandman hard to expect the bracelet to also be mint. When I got my 5513 I immediately sourced a newer 93150 bracelet for it and left the original on the side. More comfortable, less clinky and more reliable. Keeps the original as it is.

Price?
Wonderful video as usual.
Although the new ceramic bezel is technically impressive, that Bakelite bezel of the old version just looks SO MUCH BETTER, the color, the tones, the soft look, just WOW
the Number of the new one looks very bulky, industrial
Couldn't agree with you more, that 6542 is so gorgeous
Yep pretty much a Tudor GMT then
Did anyone else notice the second hand moving counter clockwise @4:13? I presume the video was reversed.
it happens to my 5513 sometimes....
4:14 , Something wrong with your GMT master there Watchfinder? Haha!
yeah why is it in reverse?
Because the footage is played in reverse?
Omg I had to watch twice to catch it
*Innovation
I feel like investigating more bezel related information now.
I had no idea of the complexity and at the same time simplicity of the bezel itself.
Thank you for sharing.
The music and your narration are so soothing. Thank you for the top quality content. Subscribed.
I love the history included in your videos. It’s never just the watch it’s the whole story. Y’all are my favorite watch channel.
A review of the IWC Doppel preferably ref 3713 please. The first mechanical split-second chronograph.
can you please make video on new GMT II Oysterstell and Everose gold.
Thanks
The way you move your hands, its like the 2 watches are talking to each other !!! Great video ... :)
best video ever! great drop mic at the end against omega
God I'm in love with your guys channel. That light...camera work...just...WOW!!!
Huge fan of Omega, but that burn on the Speedmasters was CRAZY !
I inherited a Rolex Watch from my father, the watch exactly like the watch on this program. Every time I look at it I can picture my dad in my mine. He died 25 years ago.
Eugene Setiawan 👍😀
I am sorry for your loss.
Want to sell it mate?
My father, diagnosed with prostate cancer but stable, gave me one of these ROLEX, the one on the left, not working, the papers and everything are with him but he doesn´t remember where they are......Don´t know what to do with it.....probably sell it but where......
@@napcalli6330 maybe get it serviced if it isn't working you'll also get more money for a working one in the end
Thank you very much for another amazing Review. Well delivered, executed and informative Review. Very much appreciated and I look forward to more reviews. The old and the new is just as good for the collection.
8:34 You hear that Omega
Yeah but they're not bothered!
Sadly Tudor also...
Omega loves destroying their lines.
Hublot
EXACTLY THE COMPARATION THAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. THANKS.
Glad you enjoyed!
Masterful video - well done. Thank you and keep making them.
The older watch looks so much mmore elegant though…
Classy watch video, therapeutic as well as uniquely informative.
Old vs New could be a nice series for when you get a great vintage example such as this.
That quick yet sharp jab at Omega at the end....
I love the old Gmt master in blue red
Great presentation and great video, the best 👍
I highly appreciate the calculated art in your deliverables.
Just simply a brilliant watch. Have owned model variations since the early 1970's. Don't fly as much as I used to but still a valued piece of daily gear. Quite odd, when not on my wrist, I feel naked and my arm is like a wet noodle, just flapping about. Silly to say the least. Although I have embraced digital and glass cockpits for quite some time now, at heart, just an old analog guy.
I love the classy blend of Pentax MX and Rolex
You should have *way* more than 97,000 subs. This is easily the best watch information channel I've seen on youtube!
Finally found THE watch channel!
Sub 10 minutes videos yet not the in your face yelling with exaggerated gestures.
Every frame could be a wallpaper, great job!
Brilliant report. Thanks!
Superb information-rich video!
Hi there
Can you please do a review on Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue when you manage to get your hands on one?
What would you recommend as an alternative for similar price timepiece?
Thanks
I didn't like Rolexes until I became addicted to this channel.
Munrais sameee
Love the dig at Omega at the end. Classic. Great video.
Why? Not like you own a Rolex.
You guys make the best watch videos, hands down. Keep it up and thank you!
Thank you very much!
Could you do a history of the Explorer I?
Informative video and great production on it!
Thanks!
Can you review CH Ward Apex please ? Thanks
Beautiful video!
Is the Pepsi ceramic bezel only available on the white gold?
Perfect, as always.
Very informative video. You earned my sub!!
4:12 casually turning your wrist to reverse the time. This watch has great capabilities👌
amazing videos!! Would love to see your take on the 116610LV Hulk
But, is there a luminous option for the bezel numbers?
Excellent video as usual 👌🏼
Fantastic videos ..very interesting thanks again.
Another outstanding video!
Great vídeo!
Awesome video!!! Please do the exact same with rolex explorer
Great vid. Could you also do a vid covering Rolex's new 32 series movements vs. the 31 series? I know 90% of the components are new, but what exactly are the key advantages of the new movement?
Talking blancpain..
Maybe you have time to make a vid about the 50 fathoms?
Greetings and Appreciations.
It's definitely on the list!
OOooo if you can do one with that amazing blue dial that would be amazing
A video about my grail watch on my birthday! Good timing!
Alex Christian happy birthday
Happy birthday! Glad you enjoyed.
Can you do a review of the Breitling Superocean professional, circa 2001 (blue face) thanks
The GMT Master 2 116710LN is an amazing watch, fine and perfect in every way possible.
Great stuff!
That 1675 is gorgeous, 1963,64?
Paperwork dated '65
what year is this watch> where can i buy it?
I prefer the fonts on the orginal GMT Master bezel along with the old 12 hour marker. Why the change? It's a perfect dial and bezel if you ask me.
Great review. A side by side review of the 118238/218238/228238 would be great.
What do you know or can find out about the Rolex Geneva Cellini Quartz? I have one that is not running but cannot find anything about it.
I really do enjoy your reviews -- but everytime I tune in, I think Alan Davies is narrating them! Thanks for these reviews.
Great Job
Now this is a nice take and a honest video.
Great video for me it's the vintage 1675 any day of the week, I'm in love with vintage sports rolex I just whish I had the money for one
Nice video. Appreciate your work. Thanks.
The Pepsi GMT is my favorite rolex. Especially the new cerachrome one
Waiting for the Coke GMT reissue
The watch is ticking backwards at 4:16
These videos are art
Despite the little jab at Omega at the end of the video, Omega is still the best value for the money dollar for dollar.
That's Seiko. Compared to Rolex, both are shit.
At 4:16 the second hand was going backwards...obviously ran the film in reverse but it looked weirdly interesting regardless
What was the name of the movement company? Agler?
Another amazing video about one of my favorite watches. I know this isn't a history of the GMT II but it would have been nice to mention the Panam connection
Thanks! I'm saving up the Rolex brand/industry associations for another vid-keep an eye out for it
sophia loren lugs 1986- Fat Lady
that vintage Gmt looks a lot like the Tudor black bay GMT! its like a new version of it
I bought my first Rolex for my 26 birthday. A submariner two tone date black and gold... 6 months ago. Can't believe i missed this channel. You are as articulate as they come. and absolute poet. You my friend, make CZcams videos sub-par to the quality of NASA's spacecrafts. Never seem anything like this.
You are the David Attenborough of watches. Every word in you dialogue is meticulously written. What was the brand that rolex bought in 2004?
That's very kind, thank you! The brand is 'Aegler'.
Watchfinder & Co. Can you please make a video explaining how the heiluom escape valve works on hight end diver watches.
i must say this channel is really doing a great job i mean I really like the video you’re making, different and very elegant. Im literally waiting to see you guys grow into a big renowned channel. All the very best for future n keep doing good work🖤
Thank you-here's hoping!
I like the fact that the old one has an yellow touch man so cool I like it more than the new one!
the old one is really a beauty!!!!!
At first my grail was the ceramic Pepsi. Now that I see the vintage one, I'm starting to reconsider my goals
"Endless limited editions of the same watch" sounds like omega
Another winner!!!
Despite i can't afford one, the first time I saw rolex as a child, it touched my emotion eventhough I had no idea about the value of it. Rolex a crisp name ringing luxury and Indeed a beauty beyond compare.
4:13 Rolex innovated reverse time 🤣
Can you review the Vostok amphibia side by side with a submariner ?
This is why all these Kickstarter watches fail. They need to do something different.
Great video
I like the vintage watch more. It has nicer proportions. And the bezel color is more unique.
Awesome video.
Great piece! You sound just like Noah Taylor in Vanilla skies.....Support!
Watching this with my 1675 Rolx GMT-Master.
@4:13 ahh, the elusive back-tracking rolex GMT.
Patented leap second adjustment! 😉
No way to get all information clubbed the way you presented it, thanks for sharing.
I really think the old GMT master more beautiful than the current one. Looks vintage, classic. Very nice. The new one of course is also gourgeous.
NeoAndersonn The new one will become vintage aswell. But yeah right now the old one has that vintage aesthetic.
Royal oak perpetual old vs new. Please!
How much are one each
The 16750 is my Holy Grail :)
I am always thinking though the new GMT looks absolutely more modern and premiere, the numbers on the bezel look too big and aggressive than before, which make me prefer the old ones.
I think the ceramic shining aspect makes it less elegant though. I prefer the old one.
