What is Kapeng Barako? Let's have a Farm tour at Nayong kalikasan coffee farm.

Liberica coffee is popularly known as kapeng barako in the Philippines. It is considered as the world’s rarest coffee specie. It accounts for less than 2% of commercially grown coffee. Barako coffee was introduced by the Spaniards to the Philippines in the 1740s. Barako coffee was originally planted in the lowlands of Lipa, Batangas. From there it spread to other areas in the province, and Batangas became known for its coffee locally. In 1876, barako coffee cultivation spread to the neighboring province of Cavite. At present you can find a lot of barako coffee trees in Alfonso Cavite which is located in the boundary of Tagaytay City in the north area and Nasugbo Batangas in the South area. Let us take a farm tour at the Nayong Kalikasan coffee farm in Alfonso, Cavite to know up close and personal the Barako coffee trees.
