Why there isn't a basket on a motorcycle anywhere is beyond me. I feel like only in Malaysia using it. Some part in Singapore and Thailand have that. It is so convenient for simple things.
I completely agree! It’s crazy that thailand is so close and has many similar models but no one uses them. More likely to see a child seat in the same place the knee basket would be.
They do, look back on middle bike, exactly front of seat.in Thailand their law forbidden to lut there. They have to put on front of the bike cuz if you put bike or tall things it will distrub the handle when you ride them.
the things is, most malaysians are fine with anything under 150cc cause either way, people are going to install a big bore kit upgrade anyways😅. malaysians love to modify these bikes with big bore kits, bigger carbs and stuff
those 135lc’s, y15zr and 125zr can maintain a healthy speed of 140km/h on the highways.
but a lot of people do modify these bikes to the limit. if modified those 135’s, y15zr and 125zr 2 stroke can reach a top speed of 200km/h running with a set of small 60/80 tyres 😂.
it’s a part of the culture here to modify bikes. no bikes were left untouched. usually the fast ones looked stock from the outside 😂

Its so refreshing to see a man enjoying the simple things in life. 1000cc bikes are all over social media and you hardly ever see someone who enjoys these small bikes, i mean theyre basically everywhere. You wouldnt see them as out of the ordinary, i own a zx10r and its so nice to see a foreigner looking at these small bikes when especially americans view 400ccs as a "small bike" i mean even owning a liter bike its so nice going on a spin on my girlfriend's ego gear. That thing is a blast and you dont have to worry about dropping the bike, or the fuel consumption. It's a treat after riding a noisy ass bike. Being able to go breathe some fresh air and not having to listen to that exhaust (trust me it gets old)

a very strange place where underbones can be seen everywhere is here in Greece, they stuck around after we first got the Honda cub and you see them everywhere.
It's very rare to see them outside Asia let alone in Europe, but hey we've fallen in love with them here.
Yes! I love that Greece adopted them long ago. I have seen that scene before online and thought it was great. A Thai friend of mine is often sending small bike parts to Greece.

Here in Malaysia, underbone is highly popular. Due to our roads and we love to put stuff at bike basket. In Malaysian market is huge, from scooter, underbone, naked, adventure, cruiser ,dirt bike and superbike but still underbone is our favourite. Even most rich people who own sbk you still can see that their own an underbone for close ride. Wish at least European and usa would use these underbone bike. It's easier and simple. Also affordable maintenance and modification. Unlike scooter, it's easier to change tire and it's use chain. Let's not forget that motorcycle company in Malaysia today already make an underbone more sporty in term of design. Glad you cover about this ❤
The blue Yamaha is LC135 or Jupiter 135. Very famous in Msia. Fav for thief too. You are right, Yamaha is a big name in Msia & in Thai it’s Honda..

Alloy rim because we need to put tubeless tire, to use tube with spokes on our roads especially for commuting is just not advisable due to many nails & screws on the road thrown there suspected by those “Tire Puncture Repair Guy”. These small bikes usually rides on the road closer to the side.. there is where most of the nails and tyre wire debri are located.

135lc, y15zr, mt15 and the r15 cylinders blocks are interchangeable with each other. meaning 135lc’s can be upgraded to a 150cc by using a y15zr cylinder block. this what makes yamaha successful in malaysia. most of their bikes have parts that are interchangeable with other models making finding spare parts easier.

I did see a lot of them around but just not in that line up. I love that Honda doesn’t dominate in Malaysia. Makes for a more interesting bike scene. Glad to know you’ve got the essential basket and alloy rims!

alloy rim + disc brake + fuel injection & spoke + drum brakes + carburetor are the usual two variants offered for the same motorcycle
Since moving to the Philippines last year, I've really developed a liking for the small, utilitarian, cheap & cheerful bikes here. For what I spent upgrading some parts on my HD Springer, I could have bought TWO Honda XR150L's like I have here..
They really suit the terrains they're faced in South East Asia. Perfect bikes.
@@SmallBikeStuff I grew up in South Africa as a kid for 10 years, a lot of small bikes there too. Definitely not like Asia. My first bike (that ran) was a clapped out Honda 50v with the chrome tank panels. Had to push it to start it, no kickstart, had to stall it to kill it, no ignition switch. Learned a lot about bikes with that beater.
In western bike for hobbies but in Asia this small bikes, after salary,,, bring money home.. Week day they ride big bikes for hobbies.. But not for work

I’d love to have a Honda wave in Los Angeles where I live. Too bad most people want to do 140 in a 80kmh zone. Also, closest place that sells Honda wave is Mexico!
Definitely worth bringing one back over the border! Mine isn’t really suited to New Zealand either but I made it work.

The 150cc underbone is a different beast than the lesser cc. Larger tires and better suspension, good for Malaysia rough roads and potholes. Electronic fuel injection and a hp of 150+ with good torque for climbing. Top speed of 140kmh plus. Good for the highways and small enough to weave thru the city. They last forever with proper maintainance. Almost a perfect bike here. Only minus is that the seats need to be make more comfy.
If they also had the same underseat storage the new wave does I would buy one in a heartbeat!

in the video about singapore bikes, you see way more bigger capacity bikes in singapore as compared to malaysia. This is mainly due to the extremely high taxes the malaysian government impose on bikes with bigger cc (although bikes are supposedly for the lower income group, go figure) and also the weak exchange rate for the ringgit. So bikers in malaysia is in double jeopardy, weak currency and high taxes as compared to many other parts of the world. Motorcycles are actually a very efficient form of transport. No traffic jams, don't need big car parks, fuel efficient and doesn't waste as much materials to manufacture as compared to cars. But the government here promote car usage, which capacity is under utilised as most cars stuck in traffic jams only have 1 driver. To beat the jams, they build more tolled highways (toll, more income for the cronies), more car park spaces are needed and cause higher pollution. In a big way, the government's policies shaped the type of transportation the people use or don't use and unfortunately, those policies are for the officials' personal gain instead of the people or the environment.
High tax minus subsidized ⛽ gasoline , indeed singapore has vast type of motorcycle there but in malaysia from my point of view is for the sparepart afterwards , easier to get your bike fix in no time when all motorcycle alike , just my 2¢ , cheers 👍🏻

I heard that you can easily import JDM cars from Japan in New Zealand. The process isn't that much complicated and not as much expensive compared to other countries. I saw a youtube video of it 10 years ago, I wonder if it hasn't changed now

It seems that some countries prefer under bone, and others prefer scooters. I wonder why? The only under vote offered in America is currently the new super cub. And the maxi scooter seems to dominate Europe.
Yeah it's interesting what countries prefer what style. In New Zealand bike choice is dictated by registration categories as much as personal preference.
Hey mate, have you rode a Honda Dash 125 before? It's kind of like Honda Wave 125, but shorter, with more torque and power.
I haven’t ridden a Dash. Just my Wave 125i from 2015 in stock and modified form. Sounds fun though! I’ll have to try it one day.

125ZR isn't convenient because it's basically gas guzzler haha. I think you can order knee basket from online vendors, it's easier. Bringing that stuff on your own is troublesome isn't it?

@@SmallBikeStuff yeah 125zr price is ridiculous. I think you can get yamaha ss2 for a decent price. Not 125zr performance but its 110cc engine has decent performance. Suzuki equivalent 2 stroke would be suzuki rg or the bigger cc rgv. I believe rg is 115cc and rgv is 120cc. Might be wrong though. When i got my yamaha sport i was just lazy to use clutch 🤣. I like my left hand free.

I couldn't say, but I've seen people of all shapes and sizes riding them. Heavy duty shocks are available for most bikes. It's not uncommon to see 3 or more people on a bike too. So they can handle it.

Maxxis diamond is quite reasonable price & very suitable to use in town but I usually use indonesian brand tyres which is corsa & I use corsa sport rain for my daily ride

Is in New Zealand, motorbike is really used like how in Southeast Asian countries?.. As I know motorbike is rarely be found in New Zealand because people there prefer much on cars over motorbikes. White people seem not really suit to ride bikes due to their body size are big (heavy) and tall. Plus climate is part of the reasons too where countries that have snows during winter, are not a rightful and safe to ride a bike there in such situation. In USA, only in those southern states where bikes are normally used because of no snows/winter in those areas. So they can use their bikes all the times, all year long.
There are a lot of people riding in New Zealand, but most as a hobby. Not as their main form of transport. Small Bikes are difficult to buy as many brands don't bring them in. For example a small bike in New Zealand is considered to be 250cc minimum.
