  • PS5 Controller, the DualSense R2 or L2 triggers are becoming loose overtime. This is because of an issue on the spring being used by the trigger buttons right above the Adaptive Trigger motor.
    This quick tutorial will show you how to replace broken spring on Dual Sense R2 button, fixing it's resistance and looseness issue.
    For the springs you can just search "R2 Trigger spring in Lazada or Shopee or any online stores and make sure to get the 'new version' or the springs for DS4 version 2 and up and not the old school one.

      I took apart a DS4 to grab the spring for this DS5 fix, and the DS4 has less parts to disassemble but is much more fiddly. Pretty sure I broke a plastic clip in the DS4 and I was trying to be careful. The DS3 was a dream to take apart. Didn't even need a video.

      Managed to do it. You have to have a pair of tweezers really. Get the spring loop on the centre piece and the bottom clamped in to the non-trigger part, and use your finger to jam them so they don't move, then get some tweezers to force the other part of the spring past the trigger and into the clamp. Gotta push your finger against the spring so hard it hurts a bit to stop it slipping, but it does work fairly easily this way.

    Thank you so much for this tutorial. My R2 button was busted and had no resistance. I found your guide, managed to get a pack of 10 springs on Amazon for 7 dollars CAD and I already have a precision screw driver set. I didn't have a pry tool so I just used a flat 2mm head like you did. Once I opened it up, I found the broken spring near the bottom of the controller. The only tricky part was getting the spring in. Had to use both my precision screwdriver to keep it in place with the 2mm head to move the spring arm into place. Got it after about the 5th try. I was about to buy another controller and your guide saved me. Overall this took about 15 minutes to do. Thank you so much!

    Perfect guide. Thanks dude. I thought my trigger spring had dislodged as I couldn't hear any parts rattling around, but alas, it was broken. Just popped open an old PS4 controller and swapped the spring over. Hardest part was aligning the two black prongs either side of the touch pad on reassembly as they're very easy to misalign. Just be careful with that part.
    Otherwise I'm happy to have fixed it. Sure, I could and should have sent it back to Sony, but lockdown is making that really hard to do. Plus I'm sure they'd just send me a brand new one anyway, so this feels a little less wasteful.

    First of all - if ANYONE has this, it’s too soon. It’s only April and the console only came out 5 months ago. I bought mine in February. It’s already broken. So 2 months of very light gaming. I have a kid and a full time job so I’m not gaming like a teenager for 6 hours a day- but even if I was (and I used to!) no console in my life has this ever happened even dating back to Nintendo systems and I used to throw those things.
    I expect free replacement very quickly with no postage costs given it’s a known fault or flaw of the controller.
    Ps great video man. It helped me take it apart east with no issue. Yeah my spring is just straight up missing and I can hear it rattle inside but I’m not touching it anymore it’s going back.

    I found it easier to remove the battery, I heated up a small Philips screwdriver and and pushed it into the plastic peg that the spring goes round, this way I could keep the screwdriver in place to prevent the spring bouncing off while I used a watch strap tool with a v groove to bring the spring arm up to the locater clip,

    I think they added the Dualshock 4 v2 springs on the new color versions of the Dualsense. I opened my new Dualsense and it had the Dualshock 4 v2 springs. They are thicker though.

      My dualsense also the new batch (the purple one). I opened my dualsense and it's also the same with the DS 4 V2. So that's why i feel the trigger a bit weak? Should i change it to the dualsense version (the straight one)?

  • @hometownhero334
    @hometownhero334 Před 2 lety +1

    Sir, you really helped me out. Have you ever thought about doubling the springs up, just to have a reserve spring already installed on standby or do you think it will make the trigger that much harder to press? You got a sub if you respond?

    • @GlennThoughts
      @GlennThoughts  Před 2 lety

      I thought about that but it wont fit on the plastic holder and it might actually just cause it to breal due to too much resistance. 1 spring is enough. Mine works wonder since then

    Had my R2 break within 2 weeks playing cyberpunk. I thought I felt the adaptive triggers activating a wee bit while shooting and the spring snapped. Seems the exact same springs as the DualShock 4 are used and I won’t be surprised if all the extra vibrations makes them snap regularly

    • @GlennThoughts
      @GlennThoughts  Před 3 lety +1

      It's not using the exact same spring of the ds4. Thats actually the reason why it snaps. The ds4 ones are more flexible and has a good design compared to the thick and stiff stock spring of ps5.

    • @liamfergie
      @liamfergie Před 3 lety

      @@GlennThoughts Well they appear identical. Can’t see why they wouldn’t carry over such a tiny and simple part. Plus I took apart an old PS4 controller, took out the spring, managed to stick in in my dualsense and it’s now indistinguishable from my other dualsense controller.
