Wow, as a Clippers fan it makes me happy to know that Milos had so much great hoops left in him after the team waived him. Sucks it didn't work out for him here but I always loved watching him play.
People from the Clippers organisation were literally shocked, Milos used to smoke, drink and didn't work hard. He took some money, had flashy moves here and there and came back to Europe. Offensively he's a genious, but in defense he never bothered.
@@harderway8568he only played defense for serbia his best games were for serbia
had also an injury after his best pass in the NBA. Clippers Luck...
He had some great games. He is a damn good shooter and could pass the lights out
Mirotic def was fun to watch and he secured the bag either way. Funny how him and Bobby both ended up having very solid careers
Teodosic failure is not quite his fault. He came to a way more physical league at 30 years old, and still played pretty well, but had injuries that he couldn`t recover well enough from due to the high volume of games.

Ah Nando De Colo. He's one of my favorite stories of players who were more successful after they left the NBA. So, he requested to be traded from the Spurs that season. It was simple, he wanted to do more and the Spurs wouldn't let him. Before we traded him, he had some good games but that was to probably increase his trade value. I love the fact he became successful in Europe, even becoming an MVP.
I think Luka is already a Hall of Famer considering it's the BASKETBALL HOF and not just the NBA HOF. After all his European accolades added to his NBA accolades (tbh he just needs a championship), I think that he can arguably be a Hall of Famer at this instance. But I get if you don't put him in there
Since T-Mac was a first ballot HOFer I can confidentely say that Luka Doncic should be a HOFer too even if his career ended today
if Reggie Miller is a HOFer, Luka is a HOFer as well. I can argue this stance any day of the week.
Luka really just needs one major NBA trophy of any kind to be a lock Hall of Famer. But even without yeah between His 4 All Star and 4 All NBA teams. The EuroBasket trophy (first in Slovenia History),and his Euroleague and ACB career he's already got more than enough
Luka a HOFr right now 😅
He totally could be and if you have any doubts I'm sure in two or three years no one would have a doubt
This was another great video, man! I love these higher effort more research intensive productions.

Awesome video, very fun to watch. Having said that, you didnt get ONE name right, not one!
Teodosic had serious injuries and his offence was sweet with perhaps the best passing skills in the league he showed that quickly. He struggled on D though but with the injuries he had no chance
Sasha Vesenkov had a great game last night against the Warriors. Maybe he will succeed in the NBA.
Great video! But Spanoulsis 😂
That “He joined bolonga” was so inspiring…
I remember Mirotic leading the nba in 4th qtr points at one point. The guy was def a solid piece on those bulls teams.

NICE VID
I think Vessleys story is more about how bad the player development is for the Wizards. There’s a reason why they are so pathetic year after year. They get spoon fed high draft picks every season and blow it.

them trading Rui for seconds is proof
Every Euroleague MVP except Luka at 16, is bang average in the NBA, but instead of just admitting NBAs level is higher, you blame teams for not developing. Lol. weird take.
@@Nino-cv4dw the difference is Luka was given the keys as the main guy in Dallas from day 1, while everyone in this video started on the bench, some coaches not believing in them. Thats an unfair comparison.
@@nekomekoplays If you cant even play well for 15 mins off the bench, then why do you even deserve more minutes? You talking nonsense right now. Lol. If Luka plays 15 mins off the bench he'd still give you 25 points. Thats the difference.

Teodosic was old and injured as he came to NBA. And he is not so easy as person. When he is not motivated he plays very bad.
As a blazers fan, I apologize to Rodriguez 😢
Parker - was a Beast! Very Solid Player
I remember Arvydas Macijauskas, Antoine Rigaudeau and Jiri Welsch.
They were absolute monsters in Europe. Completely unstoppable.
They did nothing in the NBA.
Sometimes you just have to find your place.
Most of the european stars failing at the NBA (and the other way round) has to do with the fact that NBA and FIBA are quite different ways to play. Some numbers of many european stars on their prime while playing FIBA sound ridiculous (we're talking about 14-18 ppg) but defense in Europe is struggling, the scoring is more distributed (there's no such thing as "franchise player" taking all the shoots in european clubs) and specific rules and smaller quarter lenghts don't help either.
We could say that a 18 ppg stat in Europe could equal to 30 ppg in NBA.
The Mirotic case reminds me to Dino Radja. Already a star on the NBA, but rejected valuable contracts for returning to Europe and eventually playing for the croatian league in his country.
Spanoulis was amazing. I'd choose him for my team over more succesful guys like Tony Parker all day.
Other guys never reaching NBA like Bodiroga, Gallis, Chikalkin or Djordjevic deserve some love too.
defense in Europe is struggling??????????
Jiri Welsch was a fairly average player in EuroLeague.
Jiri welsch, unstoppable in Europe? Lmao, please watch some Euroleague, or check some statü at least.
Djordjevic played in NBA
Mirotic really was on pace to have a long solid career. He’s honestly a great player. But he wanted to go home and play where he liked to play, he got his huge contact and instead of not being the solidified one option or at least starter in a winning team. He’s the best in Europe and he’s happy. Otherwise he would be a “solid bench option” he got the career he wanted.
I believe he would've been a solid starter in the NBA. They value stretch 4s these days. Instead, he's one of the best in Europe. And that's perfectly fine.
That is the part that lot of people are missing here. In Europe they're stars and then moving across the pond suddenly they're not the first choice (often not even 3rd). And often enough it's not because they couldn't do it, it's because they they're not given the opportunity.
Not everyone is willing to change their role just for the money.
@@karliszelinskis5908 Very true. Also American coaches are often conservative, would question defence of the europeans and prefer a local black guy, unless you stand out 2 heads above everyone else like Luka. No way Mirotic were inferior to Morris brothers or other stretch 4s across the league. He preferred a place, where noone questions his status and where he can live in a familiar culture.
Miss you keeping us updated with the balls lowkey
You should do a video about Deni Avdija he is crazy
I'm a European basketball fan who enjoys both the NBA and the Euroleague, and to be fair basketball in Europe is just significantly slower paced. It is not poor basketball by any means and I enjoy watching it, but it's easy to understand why the jump to the big pond is rough for many.
Also many of these guys just were not given a real chance.
Milos is talented but lacks work ethic, smoking and drinking the way he was isn’t going to cut it in the nba at 30 years old.
Slower pace in Europe...? 😂
classic
@@MicuBambait is 😂
Noticing a common theme. The American coaches don't really give these guys a chance
And the media. If Luka was a US citizen out of the college system he would be the face of the league alongside Steph and Bron.
They have to prove to the coach that they're worth playing.
FIBA & NBA are different. Recent successes on the world stage for U.S. teams has been because they've started practicing together, sometimes 3-4 years ahead of the games, in order to prepare for the difference.
The Euro players that have succeeded in the NBA have hit 4 things all at once:
- Not waiting until their 30s to enter
- Having natural talent
- putting in the same time to learn NBA, as they would to hone their skills
- getting drafted to a team / coach that was a good fit. Spanoulis, for example, got a terrible deal in Jeff Van Gundy. Gregg Popovich, traded for him & would have given him a great opportunity, but the guy didn't want to work for it & I get it.
It is the old concept of whether someone wants to be a "Big fish in a small pond Vs a Small fish in a big pond"?
It would be hard to turn down being a sports God, just to go work your ass off to be an everyday person.
@@DoobieKeebleryeah spanoulis would have been nice as a guard rotation in the spurs line up, shame that he didn't see the vision of pop

Before this video i was living in a world where you can mess up pronounce only that much... That's a mind expanding experience
Where'd you get the extra 's' in Spanoulis?
Teodosic killing parker in the fiba basket was something
Teodosic “failure” wasn’t really his fault, people saw his skill injuries just got to him.
I watched every Clipper game, Milos was the biggest defensive liability that I have ever seen. Slow and soft. Nice dimes though.
It was, his body is too weak for open, fast and athletic NBA game.

outside of superstars that is literally what every player in the nba does.. jj reddick has done entire podcasts about finding your role and being good at it... outside of luka not a single one of these guys is a superstar.. none of them were going to find success being "the guy" in the nba because none of them were "the guy"... had they played that way the fact that they weren't good enough would have been obvious even sooner...
@@gaseousclay9529 they could be the guy if the NBA would let them.. guys like Teodosic who is a very decorated player in Europe chose to remain there instead of playing in the NBA because not only will he be the main guy but also he will be used effectively
@@gaseousclay9529that's the whole point you're missing. They're the guy. They have been for big part of their careers and when they move across the pond they're treated as if they can't play and best they can hope for is role players.
Can you imagine how long would Harden or James stay in Europe if they were treated this way?
It's not that those players don't know how to play. It's the fact that they're expected to change everything about their game, often giving up their strengths to play a lesser role.
Not everyone is as Lucky as Manu or Tony and gets to play for Pops that is keen to use their skills and strengths.

5:56 my god that is nasty
they all could be nba all stars if given an important enough role. if they fail it's most of the time cause of lacking opportunity!
anybody knows the music especially the music after 24:00?
History can tell you something, but the reality is the leagues changed alot recently. Alot of those Euro stars are killers in the league
They have similar skill to the nba but the spead, size, athleticism, and the open fast play style is the biggest difference
Most of em still come over here and suck tho
Idk i just can't seem to understand why its so difficult for players from the euroleague to translate to the nba.
Europe has different rules. Smaller court and no defensive 3 seconds makes it easier to hide bad defensive players on defense like Teodosic for example. Also it's hard for some players to adjust from having the ball in their hands at all times to just being a role player. There's also NBA coaches who play these guys out of position and not to their strengths, often times they would just stick Europeans in the corner as spot up shooters and that's it.
@@simtelefonbecause there’s other players who do it better, it’s simple really

NBA owners/coaches must give Euro MVPs the leading role on the team in order for them to be successful. Ex Luka and Joker. Most NBA coaches would have made Luka and Joker bench players.
Joker was a second round pick who proved himself like every other NBA player who wasn’t a lottery or first round pick. Truth is these guys were role players at best and didn’t like that because they were “the guy” back home. Same concept of a kid coming out of college that wasn’t a high pick. They were all “the guy” but start off not getting a lot of minutes in the league.
@@keyontecaine8887 MVP of Euro-league is a higher level accomplishment than being “the guy” in college
@@heb597 not really. The NBA jump is a whole different ball game. College and euroball are more similar in play styles. And regardless you have to earn your way in the league, nothing is given
@@keyontecaine8887 euro is a level above college that is why USA stopped sending college kids to olympics. The “earning” part is messed up. If the coach sucks and most coaches suck, then they will make euro mvp “earn it”. This is why euro mvp are busts.
Don’t embarrass yourself. 3 out of top 5 NBA players come from Euroleague and they all claim it’s more difficult in Europe. Obviously some cannot make the switch to a very different style but they aren’t role players and there is a clear bias from US coaches, owners, media and the public - that works against European players. Also - to tone down your ignorance - they do not play in euroleague. They play in the respective national leagues and on top of that compete in the euroleague tournament … a sort of in season tournament if you wish but at higher level.
